Chemistry experiment 24 - Oxidation states of vanadium

Vanadium has four oxidation states in aqueous solution; +5, +4, +3 and +2. Each oxidation state has its own color. In this experiment, sodium sulfite and zinc powder are used to reduce vanadium.
Hazards:
- Vanadium compounds are toxic.
