I wish it didn't hurt others so much if I chose to exit. It is the only thing keeping me here. I feel so guilty even thinking this way. My family have given me nothing but love.
Just don't say that you're Billie Elish fun too. Cuse it looks like you've heard ,,I was buried" by WoY and thought: ,,oh man I think deppresion now." Just to feel little bit different and unique
The absolute suicide anthem... not that I would think of suicide, never considered it but what David Gould accomplished here is beyond comprehension... I do understand what someone in that state of mind feels... Woods of Ypres are one of the ultimate sonic Creators in this fokkin' Universe, God bless you!... an I know for sure He listens to doom!!!
@@skadi2998 I admit, to call a song a 'suicide anthem' is quite macabre, nonetheless, probably no other song dissects and describes this strange process more adequately than this one. Not that I agree with or even approve of such a deed but I can relate to the state of mind in which one finds not having any other option left. Suicide is not a choice as is being stated so often, it's a desperate act of someone who's thinking is overwhelmed by too strong negative emotions.
@@4GeRLvX there's much more to the song than a simple 'suicide'. Say, check the ''I was buried in Mt. Pleasant Cementery''. Mr. Gold was dealing with loneliness and a breakup, which can be, I DARESAY humbly, seen throughout the IV album. It's a recurring theme. I trust we're having a civilised discourse, yes? 🙃 Ask yourself, why does he, while talking about himself being dead, suddenly start talking about the BEDroom of his dreams? For the final time I close the door that will open for SOMEONE NEW? Or in the very beginning he mentions 'All the things WE BOUGHT' and that they're to be disposed of. Return to the Mt. Pleasant again - Death is a recurring theme in his music, but most likely of his emotions, not his body. In that song, he accentuates on using metapors like 'Buried (alive), alone' 'Recently fitted for a suit, now lying in a box' the extent of describing the sensation he experienced is insane. I like to think he LOVED life - in Death is not an exit, there's an existentialist note that can't be overseen. However, whatever happened to him, it was unfortunate. Music gave him a reason to exist, and I respect that. Music can be beautiful even if it's sad. But don't attribute 'Suicide' in any way or context to his life's work, he deserves more than a superficial and plain attribute like that.
Agreed... and I’m well aware about the complexity and multi-layerdness of his music, but speaking concretely about this song “By the time you read this” it is above all a peek into the mind process of someone who has already decided to comit to that “decision” I do not know and do not dare to assume whether David battled with his own suicidal thoughts, deriving from how frighteningly accurate the lyrics are, it’s highly likely, and you know once you had them too for whatever reason, anyway he doesn’t fight this battle anymore and his oh so powerful legacy stays for Eternity to come.
I found out about Woods of Ypres about a week ago. I was listening to Shards of Love which I love. I noticed comments saying “Rip David Gold” I didn’t know to much about the band but I loved them after listening to Kiss My Ashes Goodbye. I had the songs on shuffle and came across this one after I found out about him. Not a joke but the irony in it after finding out. It’s sad 😔
By the time you read this, I will already be dead Do not reply to this, it is only to be read By the time you read this, I will already have been killed Do not reply to this, but notify my next of kin Self administrate your estate, Pick up the pieces and give them away Let them take all the things they want and dispose of yourself Photos and notes go into the sink Under all the hot water the faucet could give Now my dreams are just running ink Going down the drain By the time you read this, I will already be gone Do not reply to this, but realize what you have done By the time you read this, it will already be true Do not reply to this, just understand what you made me do Oh, oh By the time you read this, I will have gone the way good men go When they go bad, where they go bad By the time you read this, I will have gone to the place where good men go Where they go wrong, when they go wrong By the time you read this, I will already have been changed Do not reply to this, after I've experienced maximum pain No longer good to anyone, and never would be again Know that I spent my final days, endlessly tying the endless loose ends One last look around the place, with sun shining into empty room For the final time I close the door that will open for someone new The only change I make before I leave, is in the bedroom of my dreams Where I covered the walls in deep blue paint, rather than my blood and my brains By the time you read this, I will already be dead Do not reply to this, it is only to be read By the time you read this, I will already be dead /\/\/\/\/\ Yeah, someone could just look them up, but I did the leg work this time. OMG they are awesome! I can't believe I was just told about them. They're like a perfect blend of Type O Negative with Moonspell with Paradise Lost and some Slayer and Morbid Angel all blended together perfectly!

I don't think so, there is nothing to indicate it was, and he had a lot of plans and was seemingly enjoying life. No one has commented on if he was drinking and driving or on drugs at the time of the accident. Only info released is that it was an automobile "accident".
@@AdoreYouInAshXI As far as i read, he was walking on the street. According to what i found out, it was pretty much the same way, the lyrics of his song "An Alternate Ending" describes it.
Quarantine music for me....
Not a sick joke, simply stating the irony about finding this song right now, a few years after he was already dead.
RIP David Gold.
+Michael Clark Same bro. The feels
I've only really started listening to Woods of Ypres, and I already knew he was dead. But after hearing this song, that felt just so weird.
David Gold reminds me of Van Gogh in sense that both of them got more recognition after their deaths.
@@semarko thank you for bringing me back here. I forgot how good this band was.

There will never be another David gold

Nah, I've been depressed for as long as I can remember.
Don't feel guilty, it's the way it is, we're all created equal and there's only One to judge afterwards...
I miss you, David Gold 🖤

A very, very good song! It is so powerful and now actually also sad because it is true i read this after he died.....

With the difference that he did not kill himself :)
By the time you read this, I will already be dead

By the time you read this, I will already have been killed
Do not reply to this, but notify my next of kin
Self administrate your estate,
Pick up the pieces and give them away
Let them take all the things they want and dispose of yourself
Photos and notes go into the sink
Under all the hot water the faucet could give
Now my dreams are just running ink
Going down the drain

Oh, oh
By the time you read this, I will have gone the way good men go
When they go bad, where they go bad
By the time you read this, I will have gone to the place where good men go
Where they go wrong, when they go wrong
By the time you read this, I will already have been changed
Do not reply to this, after I've experienced maximum pain
No longer good to anyone, and never would be again
Know that I spent my final days, endlessly tying the endless loose ends
One last look around the place, with sun shining into empty room
