@@GeographyNow as an Ethiopian, I would like to point out at 11:00, when you said "...get out of the "Amhara land" and go to the city of Adama, into the neighboring Oromia region..." that's technically wrong. Because the capital city of Addis Ababa is inside the Oromia region. You'll see plenty of people argue that it's not an Oromo city and all, which is politics and I'm not even interested in that kind of discussion, because I couldn't care less. I'm just pointing out the fact that if you go and watch any map on the internet, you'll see that the city is literally situated inside the region of Oromia. It's not even bordering the Amhara region, let alone being an "Amhara land". It's surrounded by Oromo land to the north, south, east and west. It's just not considered part of the Oromia region, but instead called a city administration because it's the Capital City. And since it's a land of 80+ ethnic groups, the capital city not being confined to a single region, is a political fair play in my opinion. It's important to point out that that was never a fully complete or even recognized "colony" and it was at a constant state of domestic war in which the Ethiopian side never "ceded" so it wouldn't be correct to call it a "Colony" - Eritrea on the other hand....

Bro you really should come back. The development since you last came has been monumental!! Almost unrecognisable. Trust me. Come back. I’ve lived here for almost 4 years and I can barely believe the transformation.
Great video! A few clarifications 1. Godjo means a thatched house and each tribe has their own style of building it 2. Harrar is not a ethnic group but a city 2. Kitfo has to be minced beef mixed with clarified butter and traditional spices. You had the cubed meat which is “koort sega”. 3. The Ethiopian donut is actually an Italian influence called “bombolino”. 4. The banana root paste is actually not from a banana tree. Though it resembles it, it is known as the false banana tree & originates from the lowlands of Ethiopia.

so glad you enjoyed your trip to Ethiopia ✨ and lil correction, we have raw meat in 2 ways, the chopped kind (the one you tried) & the minced version ( which is more popular). some people have it completely raw or medium rare. The minced version is made with spices so that all the bacteria gets killed off and it’s called kitfo not ‘kifto’. It’s not for everyone, but it’s something you can grow to love & even crave at times 🥰 i hope it didn’t upset your stomach too much hehe

By far, my favorite video 😊 (I'm Ethiopian 🇪🇹)
love this soooo much!!!
Can't wait for you to come to West Africa and hopefully visit Sierra Leone...
You’ll a experience hospitality at a whole different level!
Oh man, you seriously have no idea how much I am down for West Africa, although it is a little bit more difficult, especially if you are doing land, travel crossing borders, but still, I’m down
great, relaxed video, I liked it! Hope you make more soon
More are definitely coming! Thanks for watching!
Awesome video great to see your visit went well in my country 🇪🇹 hope you come again !
I absolutely would love to in the future
I used to binge your channel and I think life just made me lose touch with it for some time but I've been absolutely loving the letter videos and coming back again to see and to learn even more than before so keep up the great work man!
Loving the epistolary videos - keep 'em coming!
....I can't believe I ACTUALLY knew what that word meant
Ethiopia, only African country that resisted colonialism! they also have a unique writing script and that cool stuff with that Haile Selassie guy
The only African country that *successfully* resisted colonisation. Everyone else tried but got overwhelmed.

Great video. Absolutely beautiful country. So much rich history.
pretty cool to see you releases this after so long. please keep doing more letter videos like this.
I mean I had the footage just sitting there in my hard drive for years... It was time!
I’m really loving you being a travel vlogger. I hope to see more of this from Geography Now! I think it’s time you hit the road, and spend the next ten years going to every country you taught us about! 😎
We should all rally together and make sure he has a place to stay all over the world!! 🥰
Definitely more content like this coming! 👍👍
I just discovered your channel much love from 🇪🇹
Really enjoying these letter to (country) videos, would love to see more of em! Excellent as always Barbs
Dude! Phenomenal! This brings me back to when I was traveling too (and I hope I looked as good as you did ;) great choice on the montage music; this was surprisingly nostalgic yet unfamiliar, learning about people through your efforts to connect with the geograpeeps and more. Thank you for all the years, truly
Ha ha, thank you, I’m still a little “rusty” with my mini documentary editing skills, but I’m trying to get there!
I LOVED the video !
greetings from Baghdad
🇪🇹♥️🇮🇶
u just gained a subscriber ......dude i watched the video as if i didnt know ethiopia at all its so great...now there is so much change and u wouldnt even believe ,,,and there exist so many naturalistic features that u havent seen ...hope u will be back to see ..thanks
Glad you liked this!
I used to live there and all I can say is Ethiopia is love.
A nice short video of my beloved Ethiopia on your layover. I enjoyed watching your VLOG.
Great to hear the youth are coming back to the country
I can totally understand why, just like Abdul said in the video, there are many “good pieces to work with”
been such a big fan man since i was 12, keep up the good work
Fantastic video as always, Barb! Thanks for being such a beacon on RUclips and for the entire geography community :)
Thanks!
so glad you enjoyed your trip to Ethiopia ✨ and lil correction, we have raw meat in 2 ways, the chopped kind (the one you tried) & the minced version ( which is more popular). some people have it completely raw or medium rare. The minced version is made with spices so that all the bacteria gets killed off and it’s called kitfo not ‘kifto’. It’s not for everyone, but it’s something you can grow to love & even crave at times 🥰 i hope it didn’t upset your stomach too much hehe
Yeah sorry for the spelling typo, lol
Thank you for this video! FYI, that was not kitfo - that was "Teray Siga" literally translated as "raw meat"
Oh ok, Abdul in the video told me "Kifto" but I guess it has another name
@GeographyNow Kitfo is still raw meat too but it's grounded and seasoned with clarified butter and spices
I'm doing my part to help the algorithm get Barbs more recognition, because I want to see more of this type of video! Excellent style, fantastic guests, it lingers just long enough on the moments for it to be special, but doesn't drag or repeat itself. Great editing, shot selection, script, order of events and descriptions. Keep it up!
I actually really appreciate this comment, I’m still trying to figure out how to get into this format. But I do owe a lot of the footage credit to Kaleb, he’s seriously the best.
A lot change in Addis Ababa.
You need to visit again
Really loved this! Pretty cool this was Kaleb's first international trip as well.
this letters to series shares exactly what feelings and experiences you get from twenty-first century travel
Dear Barbes...Thank you for your kind letter and I wish for you to come again and visit more of Ethiopia.❤
I don’t blame you for wanting ti go back!
As an Ethiopian i appreciate this video so much, anyone who wants to visit Addis and see my beautiful city for yourself, I am more than happy to help you with anything! We are a welcoming and happy country so please come and visit! ❤️
Nothing makes me happier than when I hear people from the country approving of the video I made for their country, I know obviously there was so much I missed out on, I didn’t even get to check out the major sites and stayed relatively close to the capital area, but still,I tried my best and hopefully I can come back and see more
@@GeographyNow I only saw one real mistake which was the kitfo/kurt confusion which others mentioned. If any of you come to Ethiopia to explore let me know because a lot of development has happened even since the last trip. Anyone coming to Ethiopia can reply to me here under this comment, we can get in contact and help you navigate the country however you need. I am an Addis lij but I have seen many parts of my beautiful country and I have contacts who will help you
I'm really liking this format of video. Good job Berbs.

Been following you a long time. These videos are fantastic. Great way to level up. Now I just need to see you make one for every country and then switch to every state in the US. Thaaaaaanks
