I’d forgotten the Winchester House in San Jose CA is mentioned in the novel. Having visited it in my boyhood, I can vouch for its resemblance to Hill House!

A masterpiece of a haunted house story. Subtle, nauseating, manifestations of darkness perceived differently by each participant in the experiment, according to what lies hidden in their own unconscious.

Brilliantly read, I love it. I've never read the book only saw the Netflix series which I found disappointing. I can happily say this is nothing like it. Can't wait for your next instalment!
The Netflix series was an abomination. The original film will never be replaced. Terrifying.
