Great Content ! Young Man I used to Drive For Shelton Trucking BK in 2009 15 years ago.... I was a company driver when the original owner was still living..but P & S bought Shelton out some years ago...When the owner passed away....They used to have all Mack Trucks in there Fleet BK then...Shelton was my First Flatbed Trucking Job... I got all my flatbed experienced from Shelton.... Driver Shelton bn hauling that copper for over 25 years or more...I used to haul that copper with them BK in the days.. I remember picking up a load of Copper from New Orleans delivering the load to the Carrollton Ga that same customer... They didn't used to tarp those copper loads that's crazy...I guess bc they used to steal those copper loads off the flatbeds BK in the days..lol... Driver flatbed is alot of Physical work specially doing a lot of Tarping...I bn there done that !! I bn Trucking 20 Years this year...✊💯💯 Stay Safe & hydrated in the hot weather Driver..Be safe on them Big Roads !!!
Thanks boss. Appreciate the insight.
Invest in a set of 4ft drops will make your life a whole lot easier
I’ve heard. I ordered some this past weekend.
Five dudes loading me at once is crazy work
Right. I was lost lol
Enjoying the content
Thanks boss.
You need to go to the truck stop, and get moving blankets when you get your time back.
I got some now.
What up KO? When you get a chance, may I suggest getting a pack of DOT certified brass fittings? Super easy to connect to broken rubber air lines. Plenty of videos showing us how to connect on RUclips. We gotta keep you out da shop bro. Stay safe
Right! I’ll be looking for that and getting some tools as well to keep on the truck.
I worked with flatbeds before transitioning to tankers. The reason for tarping copper is not to protect it from the weather, but to hide it from the public, indicating that it is intended for long runs. Hopefully, you don't get a split load delivery that requires tarping. Those are the worst to untarp and tarp again.
Yea that’s what they say but I seen other drivers with the same load that never tarped it and was going the same place as me. Even works at Shelton too lol that’s why I was confused
@ko One thing I learned as a flatbed driver is that when it comes to copper, if you know the route and there is a low probability of it getting stolen (which is nearly impossible without you noticing, since copper is heavy), don't waste time on tarping. If they question, response will typically be something along the lines of I untarp in the morning or I stop a couple miles ahead to save you guys time on waiting. Majority of places check if there any sign of theft even if tarp.
I one time drove with the pin in because i couldn't get in out but nothing happened for 500 miles
Damn lol
Have you looked into getting some light weight tarps?
Yessir. Just ordered some this past weekend.
@@LifeOfKO You should be good then! They come in handy.
So you don’t leave Florida?
Yes. They mainly do the south east. Since I’ve been here mainly just Florida and Georgia for me.
@@LifeOfKO that’s what’s up!! You think they got teams?
@dimitriedmond4657 I don’t think they do but I’m not sure.
Why did you leave f2f did you have a hard time dealing with brokers because of F2f MC
Naw. I wanted to do flatbed. Couldn’t do it there. Needed 2 years of experience
Yep nobody works with them
Did you log on duty secure your load
If I know I’m gonna be there more than 2hrs I go off duty. That way I get my 2hrs back once I’m there 2hrs.
Yes I log on duty time. Not the whole time.
My twic card was $125
Same here when I got mine a few years back.
You really paid to get an air hose fixed and you are an owner operator WOW 🤯🤔
I didn’t know being a owner operator makes you a mechanic over night 😐
@@LifeOfKO It doesn't but paying for something so simple like changing your airlines that is crazy to me you could of bought the airlines and changed them yourself and you would of safed you time and money. And you don't have to be a mechanic or have mechanical skills to change something so simple like air hoses.
@compgeek43 it’s very simple correct. I don’t have the tools to do it on the truck or I would have done that myself.
@@LifeOfKO And just a quick tip from someone that has been an owner operator for a long time sooner or later you are going to have to develop some mechanic skills to save money because these mechanics out here will rob you blind for the simplest repairs. Repairs that you can do yourself I am just saying you learn and you save yourself some money and time. Keep Trucking and continued success.
@compgeek43 thanks boss. Appreciate it. I’ll be getting me some tools to keep on the truck soon. I’m mechanically inclined already.
