  • A Trip to Colibita - The Gem of Transylvania
    Discovering the Charm of Colibita
Welcome to Colibita, a charming village located in the Bistrita Bargaului commune, Bistrita-Nasaud County, nestled between Bargau and Calimani mountains. Often dubbed as the "Sea in the Mountains" this place promises a blend of serenity and adventure that caters to every type of traveler, a testament to its breathtaking allure and thrilling experiences.
A Town with a Rich History
The village of Colibita was once located where the current lake now lies. In 1979, the village was relocated to nearby hills in the locality named Mita, to make way for a reservoir lake. Before the lake was filled, the area was meticulously cleaned, with even trees removed. One of the prevailing legends of the region speaks of a church submerged within the lake - locals claim that when the water level drops, the cross atop the church becomes visible.
    Local Economy: A Sustainable Living
The village's economy is primarily based on agriculture, livestock farming, and woodworking. This locally driven economy presents a sustainable model, with potential growth in eco-tourism and opportunities for investors interested in supporting community-oriented projects.
    Activities: More than Just Sightseeing
If you're an outdoor enthusiast, Colibita is a haven. Whether you want to hike to Taul Zanelor or the mineral water spring at Borcut, mountain bike, kayak, climb, or fish in Colibita Lake, there's no shortage of activities to explore. During winter, sleigh rides become a popular pastime, offering a magical experience amid the snow-clad surroundings.
The journey to Taul Zanelor, a naturally dammed lake in the Calimani mountains, is an enchanting one, taking you through dense forests and rushing rivers. The trail is easy and doesn't require complex equipment, making it accessible for most visitors.
    Unique Attractions
One of Colibita's significant advantages is its reservoir lake. It allows for rafting and kayaking on the Bistrita Ardeleana all year round. And if you're up for a spine-chilling experience, visit Dracula's Castle near Tihuta Pass, just a stone's throw away from the village.
A Dream Destination for All Seasons
Colibita, a picturesque Transylvanian village, holds an irresistible allure. From its compelling history and warm community to the plethora of activities it offers, Colibita is a haven for those who seek to escape the hustle and bustle of city life. Be it the mystic whispers of its submerged church or the thrill of rafting on the Bistrita Ardeleana; every aspect of this beautiful village offers an invitation to discover, explore, and fall in love with Colibita.
