      Anything by Queen - be it live or studio. They´re well known for almost always being BETTER live, but some of their best stuff was too complex for the stage, so they didn´t do it live or only in a "medley". My favourites: March of the Black Queen (from their second album; Queen 2, Bohemian Rhapsody, You take my breath away, Innuendo, Mother love... anything, really. You can find whole concerts online - e.g. Wembley 86. Their 20 Minutes at Live Aid are legendary, but really- that was just Queen being Queen.

      I like this friend! He listened intently and didn't talk through the whole thing. Easy to see that he was truly appreciating it.
      My very favorite Queen song is a lesser kniwn sing from the album News Of The World. Try "SPREAD YOUR WINGS". You've heard alot of bangers, this song is BEAUTIFUL!!!

    No autotune. No tricks. No filters. Just four guys, some instruments and a stage. Magic. They don't make stars like this anymore.

      Respectfully, not 100% true. I saw an amazing band live in October with no auto tune, no sweetening, no click tracks, With some of the best Singing playing an instrumentation I'd ever seen and by far the best production I'd ever been to. Who was it you ask?? Queen+ Adam Lambert!!!
      Well there never will be another Freddie Mercury, Adam , the old boys and the new boys, are still utterly unamazing!!!

    There is no one greater than Freddie Mercury as a front and vocalist. Roger Taylor slays on drums and backing vocals, Brian May in backing vocals and guitar and John Deacon on base and backing vocals. It doesn’t get …ANY BETTER! My suggestion is LIVE AID. The best 20 minutes in rock and roll history. You have to see and hear to believe it. Check it out. Freddie owns the stadium. Also it was a worldwide simulcast at the time. Historic performance.❤

    I love watching young people discovering Queen for the first time. They are truly a timeless band. It's interesting that your friend mentioned being born in the wrong generation. Those of us who were around at that time have a strange sense of pride that these magical beings from a magical galaxy chose our generation to share their talent with. Turning around and sharing it with new generations is just what we do. Tip - you really need some headphones. What you just heard isn't close to what you will hear with headphones.

    Facts about queen: Freddy has a degree in graphic arts and created the queen logo, Brian Maye lead guitar has a PhD and astrophysics and is also been knighted by the queen of England, Roger Taylor the drummer has a degree in biology and John Deacon, the base player is an electrical engineer.probably the most educated band ever. They rehearsed like crazy, they all wrote number one hits and they all played multiple instruments. They are in fact my very favorite band.

    • @timg5011
      @timg5011 5 месяцев назад

      John Deacon took his electronics degree and turned it into a guitar amp for Brian. It's known as the Deacy (say "Deeky").
      In a happy coincidence, it matches the guitar in being built from spare parts - a circuit board from a radio discarded in a dumpster, a speaker cabinet, and a 9-volt battery.

    Believe it or not, Brian "Guitarist" May and Roger "Drummer" Taylor are still touring as Queen ! :) They have Adam "American Idol winner" Lambert on vocals. John "Bassist" Deacon decided in the mid-late 1990s that he'd had enough of being a rock star and he could live off his royalties thank you, so he bought a nice house in a nice suburb and doesn't appear much in public any more. Good luck to him, thanks for the songs, I say. (Check him out in this video; he's the one in blue. He looks so relaxed, just wandering round the stage, like he's rehearsing in a garage with some friends or something... :) )

    The full Montreal concerts has been remastered and formatted for the IMAX stage. I saw it a couple of weeks ago. I figured this song was near the end or maybe the encore. Nope, this was just the third song of the concert. This performance was just third, I can't believe it.

    You’re right, a whole different level! Very few bands just had a vocalist, most also played instruments, while singing!

    It's wonderful to see you young guys listening to some of the best damn music ever performed!! I spent my 24th birthday at this very concert. 8th row and center. I could see the sweat on his brow! Freddie was the goat, to be sure! Happy to see it impressed you two.

    You kids are very lucky. The possibility to access and enjoy great music from other times. When I was in school (Bogota, Colombia) you discovered music that the radios played. Maybe you could go to a bookstore and find music magazines (paper) which arrived 2 or 3 months late, and thus know what was cool or in fashion. The other way was to have vacations in the US. There you would hear more music and you would dive in the record stores and buy cassettes or vinyl records. When you arrived back to your country you would share it with friends which would record the heck out of them. I learned about music with old tapes that where recorded over an over. Hope you keep diving in the great music that was, and that will survive for ever. Composed, written and performed by great artists of the time.

    Queen was unusual because they had 4 strong song writers.
    They are actually the only band in history to have #1 Hits written by every member of the band.
    All four members have attended universities:
    Freddie Mercury - Lead singer/songwriter/piano - has a degree in graphic design and illustration;
    Sir Brian May - Lead Guitarist/songwriter/vocals - has a degree in physics, is a Doctor of Astrophysics and was a "science team collaborator" with NASA's 'New Horizons' Pluto mission. He has an asteroid named after him. He built his own guitar - "The Red Special" with his father when he was a teenager.
    Roger Taylor - Drums/songwriter/vocals - has a degree in biology; and
    John Deacon - Bass guitarist/songwriter - earned a degree in electronics with first-class honors.
