- SEGA's 2010 spy RPG Alpha Protocol was a video game that many thought could have been something special, but with a lack of sales and a bunch of flaws it never quite reached its potential.
However, over a decade later, Alpha Protocol now has a cult following with many wishing SEGA would let developers Obsidian publish a sequel. But... they won't... and now you can't even buy a digital copy of this game!
I'd never played it before and I decided it was time to put this James Bond RPG to the test on me Xbox 360!
SO! Is Alpha Protocol worthy of being a cult hit or is it just a bit shhh...

This game is awesome!
My first Obsidian game, and one of my favorite spy thrillers! With leveled-up abilities and the ability to handle characters exactly as you feel, this allowed for so much creativity in gameplay. Honestly, this game and the Syphon Filter series needs to come back eventually. And just to help you out, SIE (the mercenary in the train yard) is German, and Sis (the girl on the yacht) is of indeterminate nationality.

I got it on GOG. Still holds up IMO, playing a second playthrough on Veteran Mode.
Is this game worth it in 2024? it is on Steam for $15? I think it is a tad too expensive.

@@HoodArcade it's between £10-£30, but that's mainly due to availability. It's old enough now that lots of copies are lost to time.

@@HoodArcade I'll be honest, I tried to enjoy it for 20 hours or so. It has it's good points but it just wore my interest down. I didn't even get stuck on something hard or confusing, I just realised the rest of the game is going to be much the same as I slogged through already.

Flawed masterpiece. I bought it for PS3 because I was new to NCIS and wanted something like the show and this was the closest game was this.

The physical edition on PC needing a server required activation step after installation in order to play is some nonsense for 2010. I don't even think Battlefield 3 did that. Needing an activation patch in order to play nowadays in ridiculous. Did Sega just hate the PC version? Easiest way to play the game is on console.
100%, the console version is still worth owning!
I played this about 1a year and a half after it came out. I didn't get my PS3 until November 2011 and beat this for the first time in January 2012. I took Tech Specialist and Engineer for my first run because if a game has a Tech Specialist or Engineer type class that's what I always make my first character

I finished four, have one in progress and lost a partial run due to having to reset my PS3 to factory spec a few years ago.
