Sounds like it's time to buy one and start building!

    • @juliescrazybuslife

If you think about where you can park the shuttle bus once you are envisioning living in it, perhaps renting a spot on a friend's property where there are no homeowners association regs or out in the country with the same thing where you rent or even work in lieu of your stay there. So once you have that part figured out, think of it like this... If you took 4 months rent or mortgage payment and add it together, you could probably buy a bus. Think about whether you would want to do a roof raise or buy something that is already taller. This is why I chose a shuttle bus. So once your first investment is buying the actual vehicle, you've just bought your house! Every cent that you put into it is an investment! Just like a home or dwelling there will always be maintenance and upgrades needed along the way. Once you realize this, then you realize that you can do this! Does it go as planned, hardly ever! Downsizing is the first important thing because you got to get rid of everything you don't need. It's excess weight. We've been taught to buy buy buy but when you are in any kind of a bus or nomadic life, you realize you have more than you really need. It's actually the beauty of it! Look at what you can use that you already have for your bus. Or if you're lucky enough to have materials available, got that sucker and start building your home! You're worth it! At that point you can pretty much live anywhere you want to! If you don't like your spot, turn the key and drive off :-)

I’ve never seen the solar panels mounted like that on the side of the vehicle. A+ creativity when faced with the desire to keep the existing storage space on the roof. They do face a greater risk of either vandalism to the panels or damage from road debris, so it’s a trade-off which I’m sure they must have evaluated.

Love your bus and think you are smart to "seize the day" and live life now. I about worked myself to death--very stressful management position--for ten years, before I took early retirement on my 60th birthday. I make a fraction of what I would have earned if I had worked 4 more years, but who's to say you'll have them? Also as I hope to live to ancient, like most of my relatives, I'll get that money back and then some over the years. Your philosophy on life is also mine. Well met.

👍 great video. Was great that it addressed some of my concerns about beginning bus life. Right now Eric & Robyn are at my place building out my bus. Eric is AWESOME ! CARPENTER ! Originally we discussed building out my galley. I figured I could rough out the majority of the build and didn’t need perfect. But I didn’t want my cabinets and counter tops to look “cobbled “ together so I reached out to them. Eric has jumped right in to the whole bus build (though he said preferred smaller projects) and is a blessing of information and decision help. Robyn has become a wonderful friend who is a joy to be around and she and my brother are having cooking contests. Happy crew 👍🏻😁
As Wanderboom he is posting videos of my big bus build so pop over to their channel and check it out. I’m looking forward to beginning my nomad adventure. But absolutely best of all is knowing I have the excellent enjoyable friendship of Robyn & Eric out there, no matter if we’re traveling together or not. A meet up in the desert is definitely in the future. If they are any indication of the caliber and quality of people you’re going to meet out there ….. I agree with Robyn ….. “Let’s go !” 👍🏻😁❤️

What’s the long term plans … like when you’re 10, 20 years older ? When you physically can’t live in that ?
We traveled for a few years in a class C. Loved it. We miss it, but we bought some cheap land and my husband has built our house. No mortgage … we pay as we go. So, that is also very freeing. The thing with traveling in a motor home, is you most always have to pay to park it somewhere.
But I do love the traveling lifestyle. We plan on traveling again when my husband retires in a few years.

He said I wish i could've did things different instead of being a workaholic. 6 months later he passed. Him knowing he had 6 months to live he never mentioned it or complained. This hit so close especially the part about the soul sucking corporate matrix. I'm 53, just got fired from a job I thought I would retire from, whole future just shot to shit and me nearly homeless contemplating my existence and researching peaceful ways to just check out of the whole thing. The opportunity to buy a shuttle bus or skoolie is on the table and before I rent another apartment I'll spend my unemployment lump sum on my new house on wheels. Invest in some starlink equipment and start scraping for interiors. Thank you for your tears ma'am, as I gather them with mine. This was inspirational and got me vision boarding to manifest my semi-retirement and forever home on wheels.

Wow...this really got to me when you talked about life expectancy...my sweet hubby is 14½years older than me. We've had our own HVAC/R company for 32cyears. He's 67 years old now. And still runs circles around out MUCH younger technicians. I've been BEGGING him to retire, sell our home and travel together in a van or schooling. We're both previously divorced and have a blended family. So we have never really been alone. All I want to do is be together and live a nomadic lifestyle. He was TOTALLY AGAINST it until the last 2 months. He doesn't want to get rid of our house (we own outright), and is nervous about leaving the business in someone else's hands. When you started crying and describing exactly why y'all decided to do this, I broke down. 💔 😔 Praying that he'll watch this video and SERIOUSLY CONSIDER doing this with the time we have left. I love your build and the woodwork. My husband is also a carpenter, and hand built beautiful solid maple cabinets for our kitchen and s huge beautiful table for our 8 person family. We were blessed with 6 children (3 girls & 3 boys). Now we have 13 amazing grandchildren!! My dream also includes building 2-4 loft bunks to be able to take our children and/or our grandchildren on trips as well. Thank you for sharing this personal information with us!! God bless you and keep you in your travels!! ✝️ ❤️ 🙏🏼 🕊

I've been in my shuttle bus conversion for 3 years now and I'm just eyeing your side solar panel setup! I'm sure it's nice for shade too! Have also been considering a trailer but haven't been able to decide. Awesome rig!!

Curious to know how much more weight does the wood cabinetry & counters add compared to cheaply made crap? I LOVE your wood work!!!! 👍😉
Showering is over rated when living tiny!! A bed bath ( if that's what they are still called, do people remember those?) 🤣🤣🤣 Are perfect daily to get rid of stink. Lol A bar of soap, a bowl of water & a wash cloth....WHAT A CONCEPT, right? 🤣🤣🤣
Best part of day....WAKING UP HAPPY & STRESS FREE!!!!✝️🙏
    BLESS YOU BOTH!!!
I noticed your NV plates, Im in Reno.😉

The cedar is actually very light and the way I built the cabinets has far less heavy particle board or plywood.😉👍

Looks like a comfy home. As to the curtains, the first person one who critiques them is the one who makes the new curtains... And they'd better be perfect! Love all your doors and the openness of the interior of the van, it's connection to the outdoors. The outdoor shower sounds like fun. I've looked at them on Amazon and thought that would be great on a camping trip. This setup works well for you guys, go forth with God's blessings in good health and happiness!

I dig it. I've seen your bus on another channel. I like the solar panel idea. I was trying to figure out a way to put them on the side. That would work, and protect the windows to vent.
