Just bought some matchboxes for my dad, it’s family tradition and remembered this restoration channel specifically, so I went searching for Matchbox Garage content and was disappointed to see he hasn’t uploaded in 2 years. Your videos are the best restoration videos on RUclips, Rob, we miss you.
We miss you Rob. Please let us know that things are OK with you.
Hey Rob, hope all is well. Just revisited this vid and the last. Wish you would come back and show us the grand finale! You are certainly missed, sir!
Miss your vids Rob, Hope all is well with you and fam, and YES you are absolutely right, a 10-15 minute vid does NOT show ALL the work that is put into a casting resto.
Hey rob I notice you have not put out a video this year I hope you and the family are well and I look forward to seeing your completed cougar
Everything OK Rob? Looking forward to seeing the end of this.
Hi Rob. Glad you are back. I always enjoy your channel. I decided to try diecast makeovers myself. Hope you post more.
Would look great in green! Thanks for the detailed look at all of your work in bringing this Cougar back to brilliance.
Wow!!! Talk about mirror like results from polishing!!! It is really starting to take shape!! Can't wait to see it when it is completed. It will look better than it did when it was brand new! Awesome, Rob!!
Glad you're back, Rob. You asked for suggestions on a color scheme, here's mine, a 1970s green with a black or much darker green vinyl roof.
Hi Rob hope all is good. We need you back love all the work you put into your video's.
Is this the very last matchbox garage, where are you rob. Bring some closure to your fans please
This one is coming along nicely Rob. I reckon it would look good in a metalic dark bronze with some nicely scaled four-spoke retro wheels (Mk 1 Escort style). Looking forward to seeing the paint job!!! Keep up the good work.
I'm thoroughly enjoying watching your process. Thank you for taking the time to explain step by step how and why you do what you do. The kid was right! Those red (and white???) seats will look good with a black exterior! Keep up the great work!
Super shine! I think it would look fab in a transparent purple - like a candy.make the most of that shine Rob
I have been looking forward to this video. :) I think it is really great that people will have a chance to see just how much work goes into restoring, restomodding, and/or full on customising a diecast vehicle! :) Thank you so much for posting this series Rob!! :)
As for a colour, I love the idea of the green or purple...both would look beautiful on that car. :)
Good day Rob. I am also glad your back! I do enjoy your videos!
Where has Rob gone? Please be OK fella, we miss your content! And those dulcet tones!
Check out his community page for a link to a podcast he's done recently
my folks had one of the first two cougars delivered to Tulsa in 1966
it was olive green outside and inside with a white vinyl top. the headlights folded closed when off your grill shows the lights on
love your work.
Rob... we miss you and your jobs
This one is progressing really nicely and I think it would look nice in the gold but in a lowrider style. Can't wait for the next episode 😜
Hello Rob,silver plated Mercury cougar LOL,I would say gold with a black roof, with the details,it will make a awesome model.
I love the in depth stuff on occasion. It's fascinating.
Dark hunter green with a black vinyl top is a classy combination.
The smooth cadence of your voice, coupled with a full belly and the 3 yr old napping.. .. I fell asleep 😴
When, I awoke, I was excited to see what you accomplished! It looks super shiny, and ready to go!! I hope you chose a deep forest green :)
I have always wanted a green Mercury Cougar!
Stay safe, and hey to all the family :) 👋
BTW, my 10 year old daughter says "hi guys!"
She loves catching videos with me, especially when she sneaky peeks over my shoulder 😄
Thanks dude
Hope all is well with you and your family are you still doing the videos ?miss seeing them I have a few cars to send you if you’re still doing them
A guy I went to high school with had a 67 cougar that was painted teal. It was beautiful. As far as your polishing goes never use the bottom of the wheel. Use the front of it. I polished metal for a while. We used 10 HP stand alone buffers. Be careful around openings on the casting. The wheel will catch and pull it out of your hand. I dislocated a finger polishing a motorcycle hub once. Great work!
Thanks for the advice mate 😃
Amazing amount of work going into the polishing! It’s looking very good indeed! Looking forward to the next chapter.
Was happy to catch a glimpse of the old Brazil 🇧🇷 in the reflection of the polished car! Glad it’s survived the move! :-)
Have a great weekend mate.
The flag is up mate 😎
I definiitely like the idea of green
The chrome effect is very good, congratulations! I follow your restorations, your work is very good!
Oh, how I miss the foot long hotdog jar!
Rob, I think many of us are wondering if you are alright. Please let us know.
Metalic purple with a black "vinyl" roof as a nod to the kid.
The Cougar Eliminators in gloss black with a white interior were a beautiful combination, but since you're going candy, the dark candy Apple red with a white interior would be sweet!
With all that polishing , yiu could paint in in spectra flame Rob 🔥.... 😆
There is a real Cougar here in town, and it is gorgeous in a metallic forest green.
Merry christmas to you.🇳🇴🇳🇴
Very nice work as always do not stop so cool thanks Lee
You should get a fine mesh strainer for your sink so you don’t lose any small parts..another great video👍
Hey Rob! Where are you mate? Give us a sign if live. We are looking forward to hear and see from you!
Come back rob! We need more vids! Hope you and the fam are well
Looking forward to part 3
Looks great so far!.. I'll be anxious to see her all done!
Cannot wait to see this one done in the next video. Hope you are all well mate xx
Hi Rob - great video. Spectraflame Pink (the one that goes pink / green / purple) in those candies you have. Keep up the good work.
Mark.
Looks great so far.
Dear Rob, it has been a while. I hope you're doing fine mate. Your videos and yourself are being missed. It would be great to see you again. Maybe do another model in those nice candy paints. Or just enjoy the model being submurged in the foot long hot dog jar. Always aiming for that 💯%. If and when you're ready to dive back in, I, we will be right here, enjoying every second of your video's. Thanks for all the great content you already made. 💪🏻 Carl
If you don't go to Black I would go with the green. Take care Rob
Clear yellow (possibly Tamiya) over that polished metal would work a treat!
very nice results awesome cheers KC
Cars of this period of time needs to have the right colour. They have to be orange like the "General Lee" or red like the "Striped tomato" or even light blue like Axel Foleys Chevy Nova. Maybe a ligt green or a yellow. But no gold or silver, no black or white. But at the end it is your choice and we all be surprised how stonnish it looks at the end. As always. Carry on mate. I like your vids as a series and i am looking forward to the next part(s) and many more cars.
Greetings from Germany!
Rob, I'm in the green camp. Maybe a dark hunter green with a matte black roof (to replicate the vinyl roof many of these cars had). Would look really sharp and very classy.
I agree green too with the black roof
Awesome - I was looking forward to part 2
Dark metallic green, black roof. Too much compound in one application tends to clog the wheel and reduces the effectiveness. Creates more unnecessary work. Little amounts and you get better results. You may have to do it a few times but in the long run it is better result. Enjoying this series.
Hey Rob, Hope all is well with you. Missing you doing any videos. Rather enjoyed watching them. Like others have said....lets us know whats going on.
Candy apple red with a black roof. :)
You might consider Burgundy Metallic. It was a color offered for the Cougar and is very striking. It would look very nice with a white interior. Just a thought. Thanks for sharing this build.
Is Rob ok he’s not making videos no more
Hey rob!
I hope you’re okay miss your videos
Miss you and your videos hope you comebacl soon
They did the Mercury Cougar Eliminator in Orange , that would be a great color for this model, you could do it with a black vinyl effect roof Rob
Is it all over?
Color shift paint with a black roof and tan interior
Awesome
I’ve seen samples of a Cougar color called Nordic Blue that would be very cool.
Hi, I have a little thought about the fan assembly due to the vibration I feel from it. If enviroment has high level of humidity caustic fumes can attack and corrode progressively the plastics. You should go for a metal fan assembly on the next maintenance.
The 68 cougar was sold in 29 colours. I love onyx and or black cherry. There were 16 interiors check out light aqua metallic
Where are you Rob, we are missing your content
Hello rob!!
Are you with life?
Black & Gold 2-tone
Chocolate brown!
WOW, This Car Look's Nice And Shiny. 😃👍. And It Would Have Been Great If You Could Have Unscrewed The Chassis From The Bodyshell And If You Could Insert Micro LED's And That You Could Power Them By Using A Little Circle Battery And A Little Button Underneath To Turn Them On And Off.
Candy green with gold flake and black roof
Just to ask, in the rubbing down and polishing, have you ever considered, using a light use of Tcut, on the body of the stripped base of the car, to get rid of the scratches. Before Base coating and respray.
Purple! Hope all is well.
You could make it green and purple. It would be like the Jokers henchmen in the 89 Batman movie. Then do a black interior.
Purple spectraflame would be cool
Lots of time and work . How about sparkle silver , or jet black . Great work as always .
Hey man hope all is well missing the Chanel
@Myammi Rose yeah he never said he was taking a break or stopping so yeah hope all is well
5 months later still nothing
You going to do any more videos ? Been awhile mate
Hey Rob long time no see how's everything things have changed from yourself too
Hi Rod. Not been commenting a lot on your work, bit they’r great. About the color for the Cougar. Why not go for black with gold details! Best from 🇳🇴
Hi Rob. I found my 10.8volt Dremel to be too powerful and noisy when paint stripping models so now I use a Proxxon 12 volt tool. Have you tried these less powerful types of machine or does your technique better suit the higher power machine?
Mercury. Cougar. Matchbox. No. k21 restoration part2. Like
An abrupt end to this series and channel?
Metallic green....
Hello everybody, does anybody know what happened? Why is he not producing anymore his videos? Hopefully he‘s doing fine?
Original gold or a nice shade of red would look nice on it
Hope you and yours are alright, man. It's been quite a while.
hey rob,
Cougar's in the 1968 year came in a red color that is really cool. Your doin a rat job on this project Thanks
I have a small collection of Matchbox vehicles but am not good with power tools etc. I want tp clean them maybe polish them is a better way to put it. Some are loose but in cases others boxed. Not many boxed as they are getting too expensive. What product should I use for best please? Also should I use something different for the bases? It's OK if you are too busy to reply. It's Christmas after all. Great videos and terrific work. Keep it up if you can.
Hey Rob, shall I make your choice even harder and suggest orange as a color? ;) It would certainly look most excellent in a early 70's color like lime green or purple. Go with the green then ;)
Rob bro.
Where you at?
Hello machtbox garage new restauration hot wheels ou machtbox. Sa serait génial de revoir des news vidéos de restauration 🤩🤩🤩
The cougar eliminator came in orange or a yellowish color
Hello Rob, I'll begin by saying that I''m a great fan of your work. I would like to ask whether you've ever considered "cheating" by using a "Sharpie" directly on a polished casting and then sealing it all in with clear lacquer? I'm experimenting with it and so far, the results are pretty good. I've got a "Spectra-Flame" effect with a fraction of the effort and cost. The obvious other bonus is the colour spectrum available. Worth a go?
Nice video New Subscriber for you 👍
Maybe a bit late to the game here, but I'm thinking blue with white racing stripes.
