Dragonball Z Abridged Parody follows the adventures of Goku, Gohan, Krillin, Piccolo, Vegeta and the rest of the Z Warriors as they gather Dragonballs and fight intergalactic evil. Cell had the most antagonist horror movie introduction. it was scarier than an actual horror movie villain.

they used the androids as such a subtle distraction to the confusing questions that were coming up because of cell you legtimately think piccolo is just off on some side quest until you connect the dots that the city wasn't the aftermath of the androids but rather from someone else.. and that he was still there for piccolo to run into
Not the scariest, but definitely the most bone chilling
if it was in any other show they could genuinely get some good horror out of him

One of the few times dbza did a serious Schene better than the original.

i don't really get it though, in the original he's not exactly reluctant because he knows fusing with piccolo is the best way to protect the earth but here it seems like he doesn't want to just for a joke that kami doesn't want to give up a title, it might be sad or emotional if he actually had a good reason for it but otherwise this is still just a joke dub so

I love how even though it's funny, they make them legit scary. They did the same with freeza and their writing for both of them top tier. It's hard to express how much I love TFS and DBZA and how sad I am that they can't/won't continue, however I do respect their choice to respect akira and especially after passing I can't imagine they will touch the buu saga plus dbs :_)

8 years later, I come back to this show for nostalgia, and I realize in the Year of Our Lord 2023 that Trunks says “crapbaskets” because Future Gohan said crapbaskets. This show is brilliant

In the manga, it was explained that all aircraft got repelled when coming too close. But later on, basically everyone spent some amount of time on there, so it was probably forgotten about.

This episode went from Roshi's boob jokes to a genuinely terrifying rendition of Cell's entrance. The writing these guys do is pristine!
Perfect example of how inspired by the Simpsons they are - I remember in one video, I think it was Masako going over his favourite episode of TFS, he said they based Goku on Homer Simpson, which I can really see when he think how he speaks in episode 1, 2, 10(pt1/2/3), and against Frieza
I love how Roshi is the closest thing to a father figure Goku has. Him saying “That boy can’t handle his grapes” just felt so fatherly and sweet considering Goku hasn’t had that since he was like 8.

That Cell intro is legitimately chilling. I was a kid when DBZ came out and the original scene actually gave me goosebumps, but this is a whole other kind of terrifying. I think tfs did it better than funimation
Dbza did a scary and funny intro for cell, if you're going off of how scary it is then Funimation did better.
Imperfect Cell in general is just fucking terrifying. I remember watching the anime as a kid and coming to this part and the scene of him drinking that guy will forever live in my brain. It straight up gave me nightmares for a couple weeks. His appearance is also just very off putting and scary. 8 foot tall bugman with a tail that he uses to stab and vacuum out people’s innards, he’s what horror movies are made of.

The fact that Krillin is just completely in love with 18 and points out some actually adorable details about her character is so damn wholesome. Best romance, at least in the abridged series.

Jamiroquai's "Cosmic Girl" playing while Krillin gushes about 18 is something I've never noticed before, but is pretty much perfect.
I'm going to say this. Tfs is hilarious but goddamn can they add tremendous atmosphere to things. Cell's introduction is absolutely chilling.
The work they did throughout the entire series is simply brilliant. It can't be understated just what they did here. It is truly a masterpiece of fanfic. All I can say is that if every one of these guys aren't hired up by professional Anime studio's then these ppl don't know what talent is.

First form cell has always scared the absolute shit out of me. I think it's probably cause his whole "drinking people" was like, the first kind of body horror I'd seen at the age of 10, so that really stuck with me. To the point where those weird squeaky footsteps always give me chills

Goku is allergic to grapes so much that even grape-flavored medicine is a thing he is allergic to. This is why he died before Trunks came back in DBZA.
Gohan asking to keep Cell's mold is kinda wholesome after seeing him researching bugs in Super Hero. Along with confirming #16 to be Gero's son, I feel like Toei is taking notes from TFS.

The only reason that joke is really there is because Goku doesn't spend much screen time per episode with his family.
But honestly outside of his first time dying, and leaving for a year to train (which that one is a bit selfish), 85% of Gohans life, Goku has been there for him.

Yeah lanipator is really good with voices. Check out his yu yu hakusho abridged, except for the girls the characters sound almost exactly the same as the original

For a small bit of dialogue, it yields a tremendous amount of meaning. Before Kami exorcised all the pure negativity and evil ambition from his body, he must've been pretty miserable when he was whole. Discovering that his exorcised negativity created King Piccolo must've been a depressing reminder of the things he used to feel. Even though Piccolo Jr. is not his father, and he redeemed himself through his bond with Gohan, he's still bitter reminder of Kami's severe emotional state before the Kami/Piccolo split. Kami did try to kill Piccolo Jr. at the end of the first Dragon Ball at an angry whim, after all. Still, I'm glad that in the parody, Kami seems pretty content to be in Piccolo Jr.'s mind with Nail as a room buddy.

the interaction between Kami and Piccolo nearing the end of the episode just shows they are not only great at writing comedy but if they wanted to they could easily be serious and still be good

in my opinion the interaction between kami and piccolo was them saying we aren't just about comedy, we can do serious and we can do it damn well.
If you've seen recent episodes, you could see that they're trying to tell the story in their own way in general. Every little element. They've developed a "TFS canon", so to say.

You guys made Kami's departure much more potent than I found it in the original, despite him not really being gone in yours (which is awesome, love the interactions in Picolo's head)
Derek C this series is so much better than the original. It's little stuff like that which make it hilarious.
The interactions in Piccolos head are definitely one aspect that make DBZA outshine the original.
This is one of the funniest episodes yet. Every scene with Gohan is hilarious!

Between Cell's intro and the conversation between Kami and Piccolo, I prefer this episode to what happened in the actual series. A rare serious moment, but completely worth it.
