Polygondwanaland is eternally underrated. An unfolding masterpiece where you notice new things on every listen. Putting PMDB and Fishing for Fishies in your top 5 is a very respectable choice though. Can't believe those are considered deep cuts at this point.
Tbh I would put Poly at 1 and kick Nonagon out of the top 5 altogether, but I’m totally okay with the rest of his top 5. I’d maybe move Rats’ Nest to 5 and bump the others up but I am a big fan of the rest of his take.
Polygond is highly praised among the kg community, and the public didn't think it was that bad either, i think it has a strong cult of fans spinning it :)
1. Polygondwanaland - This is the band at their absolute peak in my opinion. Crumbling Castle and the Horology suite showcase some of their best lyrical writing ever ("from under the skin the flesh has rotten - poison has spread through words unsaid... our time has come, transcending us above the one to ego death") and it's all set to this wonderful ever-changing pulse of synths and bass. 2. Nonagon Infinity - A completely new sound that as far as I know has never been heard before or since. This one is still growing on me - I "got" Road Train a couple months ago, and then a week later I "got" Wah Wah, and now it's my favorite on the album. 3. Float Along-Fill Your Lungs - This one isn't my favorite in terms of the album as a whole, but with the triple whammy of Head On/Pill, 30 Past 7 and Float Along itself (which I consider their single best song overall) means I'll always keep coming back to it. 4. Murder of the Universe - Han-Tyumi's tale simply gives me goosebumps. It's also impossible to recommend - "yeah this one's about a robot who wants to be human, so he builds a machine that vomits and combines himself with it, and then destroys the universe by vomiting too much." statements made by the utterly deranged 5. Butterfly 3000 - I had Black Hot Soup stuck in my head for three days straight once.
imo i gotta disagree with Float Along and Murder Of The Universe for the top 5, Float Along is much more forgettable than a lot of their other joints and, while the Han-Tyumi part of Murder Of The Universe is top 3 moments of the band, it's just a third of the album, and personally what i think is the only truly great third of it Polygondwanaland is my absolute favorite and Nonagon Infinity comes very close too, Butterfly 3000 is a wild pick but somewhat agreeable
Rats Nest getting the credit it deserves. An absolute grinding creature, far from the heaviest or most innovative thrash record, but the lyrics are so absolutely cutting and the grooves are so angular and bizarre, they just lodge themselves in your brain. Organ Farmer alone goes toe to toe with any death metal record for being unsettlingly gory, visceral & bizarrely funny without getting so wordy or over the top that the shock factor gets lost. Tracks like Superbug & Mars For The Rich have aged like fine fucking wine with the pandemic & Elon has getting worse & worse respectively. Fucking love that record.
Flying Microtonal Banana will always be my favorite, not a bad track on the album, even the outro song feels in place and concludes the project very well! 10/10

Petrodraconic Apocalypse is an easy 10/10 for me, record of 2023 even. Idc if you wanna label that as recency bias, but for someone who isn't nearly as big of a fan of the band as most people (not in the sense that I don't like them, and more in the sense that i can't keep up), it definitely got me hooked from start to finish, which a lot of their other albums I've gone through so far haven't really done for me personally (Yes, even Rat's Nest). Microtonal is sick though, Rattlesnake is a Top 3 song
W take, fun to see you give FFF some love even though a lot of other records could fight for that spot. Mine would probably have Polgondwanaland at second and I‘m in you mind fuzz and third. That record to me is the most Gizz sounding album even though it might not objectively be the best.

2) Polygondwanaland
3) Quarters!
4) Paper Mache Dream Balloon
5) I'm in Your Mind Fuzz
Petrodraconic Apocalypse is an easy 10/10 for me, record of 2023 even. Idc if you wanna label that as recency bias, but for someone who isn't nearly as big of a fan of the band as most people (not in the sense that I don't like them, and more in the sense that i can't keep up), it definitely got me hooked from start to finish, which a lot of their other albums I've gone through so far haven't really done for me personally (Yes, even Rat's Nest). Microtonal is sick though, Rattlesnake is a Top 3 song
Is Nonagon still an 8 or has it changed from that at all since the review
Should be a 9.
@@theoneandonlymichaelmccormick10*
@@reesetlewis3651 Oh, it’s a 10, but it should be a 9, for the bit.
WOOO PAPER MACHE APPRECIATION
Same for all of them except number 1, that goes to Im In Your Mind Fuzz for me
1. Petro
2. ITRN
3. Poly
4. Nonagon
5.FMB
1. nonagon
2. Float along
3. Im in yer mind fuzz
4. Microtonal
5. Paper mache
W take, fun to see you give FFF some love even though a lot of other records could fight for that spot. Mine would probably have Polgondwanaland at second and I‘m in you mind fuzz and third. That record to me is the most Gizz sounding album even though it might not objectively be the best.
Holy shit W list. Sketches is my fav album but I wouldn’t even mind taking this list
Really sad I didn't get to see Fantano's favorite album, "Murder of the Universe," we understand melon, you are captive to the masses, we MurderStans will understand and we support your quiet revolution.
The number 1 has to be Red Rocks Live album. Arguably not just their best, but the best live album of all time.
I beg to differ, definitely not the best live album ever, but the best thing Gizz has ever done!
1998.12.28 is a better live album, but both are amazing
parannoul better
Sanfransisco live 2014 and every other live show after is the best.
Chicago '23 for the win
Nowadays, only with King Gizzard can a 7th album (Paper Mâché) be considered in their "early dicography"
5. Eyes like the sky
4. Mind Fuzz
3. Ice Death
2. Quarters
1. Polygon
Eyes like the sky is by far their most underrated album, cool to see people giving it a mention
The video: 🤫
The Ad: 📢📢📢📢📢📢📢📢📢📢📢📢📢😭😭😭😭📢📢📢📢📢📢📢📢📢📢🩸🩸🩸🩸🩸🩸🩸🩸
1. mind fuzz
2. nonagon infinity
3. polygondwanaland
4. paper mache
4. murder of the universe
"this thing is insane" THIS THING BEST SONG CONFIRMED???
Oh phew, someone agrees. (Wish outro was more prevalent in studio)
In no particular order, my favourites gotta be Poly, Changes, LW, Mind Fuzz and Omnium Gatherum
This band said “we’re dropping 5 albums this year”, and just dropped 5 of the best albums of the decade, none of the albums was “the one you can skip”.
i really vibe with his appreciation of paper mâché, definetly underrated
Hot take: Fishies is the closest KG have gotten to dad rock thus far.
1. Nonagon infinity
2. Polygondwanaland
3. Infest the rats nest
4. Fishing for fishies
5. Flying microtonal banana
Surprised Poly didn't make it but thats the joy of KGATLW...there's something for everyone.
MY List:
1. Polygwandanaland
2. Infest the Rats Nest
3. Petrodragonic (early for this but I'm loving it)
4. Microtonal Banana
5. Tie- Nonagon Infinity/Paper Mache
"in honor of the new king gizz album," even with the video dated, i don't think any of us can be sure which album that would be referencing
1. Infest the Rats' Nest
2. Nonagon Infinity
3. PetroDragonic Apocalypse
4. I'm in Your Mind Fuzz
5. Butterfly 3000
#5 fishing for fishies
#4 fishing for fishies
#3 fishing for fishies
#2 fishing for fishies
#1 fishing for fishies
this is almost exactly my top 5 as well.
You did better with this list than I expected. Please do a tier list tho
1. Nonagon Infinity
2. Flying Microtonal Banana
3. ICE, Death, Planets .....
4. LW
5. Dawn of Eternal Night (recency bias?)
LW getting no love, unbelievably underrated.
Its in my top 5
Fellow LW enjoyer
LW is so underrated. Tho I enjoy it way more if I listen to it along with KG. For me KG&LW together is ther microtonal masterpiece. +1 hour and a half of pure bliss
jesus can't believe poly didn't even hit the top 5! 😂
I like that they predicted Covid on Superbug from Infest the Rats Nest
I’d do sketches over fishies, but you didn’t even care enough to give it a real review.
At number 1. We have....
Every song.
Number 2. We have...
Truth is they’re all #1 Gizz don’t miss
Can you do a tier list of Busta Rhymes' discog?
Anto's lack of time for Poly is o_0
Paper mache recognition let's fucking go
Melon is afraid of narration, which is why he constantly underrates MotU
5 mind fuzz
4 butterfly 3000
3 LW
2 ice death
1 nonagon
1. Nonagon Infinity
2. IDPLML
3. Flying Microtonal Banana
4. Butterfly 3000
5. Paper Mache
as someone who just got into King Gizzard and the Wizard Lizard because of FUNKe... HOW DO YOU SURPASS NONAGON INFINITY?????
funke mentioned!!!
Mind fuzz should have been on here
It's pretty hard to choose but
1. Poly
2. FMB
3. MOTU
4. IDPLML
5. I'm in your mind fuzz
I actually agree, I would perhaps change the order of these though
1. Ice, Death, Planets, Lungs, Mushrooms, and Lava
2. PetroDragonic Apocalypse (after a month since release I can honestly say that this and Ice are interchangeable for my favorite Gizz albums)
3. Infest the Rats’ Nest
4. I’m in Your Mind Fuzz
5. Nonagon Infinity
Honorable mentions: Made in Timeland, Eyes Like the Sky, Changes
A Heavy Gizz Fan i see. Also Ice, Death Is a freaking masterpiece. Iron Lung alone slaps
