- Demo a Kubota SVL 75-2 vs our rental Cat 249D series. I was impressed with the Kubota but I just can’t stand the cab fit and finish. I wish we had a 259D as I think it’s more the same size but it’s all they had for us to rent. Long video but few cold ones in the garage and enjoyed comparing these two!
We’re construction workers not socker moms we can deal with noise and rattling sounds we only run kubota and there very reliable machines we have 2 excavators and 2 svl95s great machines
Kubota excavators are fucking horrible. Unbalanced, underpowered trash. They are cheap. Thats it

I've actually got both of these machines (both open station). They're both good machines. A more comparable comparison would be the 259d. Anyhow, you're right when it comes to refinement, the cat is way better in the department. It's quiter and smoother riding and has been pretty reliable. Again, not quite comparing apples to apples, but the kubota is just a lot stouter machine. It lifts way more, it runs hydraulic attachments better, like you said its kind of the linebacker of the two. Kubota's simplistic design was intentional, theres not many bells and whistles, not much sound suppression, its rougher riding. But the thing is I can work on the kubota because its simple, not as much computerized mess to deal with. It will take a serious beating and keep on going. I've put almost 4000 hours on the kubota with almost zero issues, its literally a tank. The cat is good too, but they both have their place. The kubota is made for leather glove drivers, the cat is made for white glove drivers!

I have a cat 257d and really like it. Very smooth. The key does that because you're supposed to wait for preheat. You're doing that wrong.
So many people think cat is the most superior brand of construction equipment made. But myself i hate cat products especially the ctl's the front glass is like looking through a magnifying glass, the visability around each side and behind is horrible. Cab space is super small and cramped, the rear camera is hard to see when on a bright day. As for the kubota the cab is great, visability phenomenal, power is good comfort great, the flaws are the controls seem cheap, and most ive ran dont track straight. The number 75 represents the hp
yes 75 does, I bought an after market rear camera for my svl-75, works great for $150 bucks
I own a kubota svl75-2 and i have just under 100hrs and i love it ! I tested a cat 259d and it was a dog power wise. I agree with the sound and cab features you where spot on ! To sum it up i love the hydraulic control the kubota has !! I own a cat 262c and it sucks running it all day because of electric controls.
Tony Lowe yeah I didn’t see much issue with electronic controls but there is definitely a difference. Kubota was super touchy.

CAT all the way. The cab is easily 10yrs ahead. Fully sealed cab, heated seat, Bluetooth connection, lcd display, rear camera, suspension seat and no agricultural seat, AC is top notch, lock in windows, attention to detail throughout. I can actually talk on the phone and people can hear me on the other end.
Ozy_Hodler but you can’t run the cat with the front door/windshield open has to be closed at all times, on the other hand the Kubota Can be running with the front door open or closed so you can talk to your crewmen or get out Incase of an emergency, oh and btw cat uses kubota engines 😉
@@javenmontoya138 why buy a CTL with air if your going to run with the door open or why have any glass since running with the door open is so much better? I prefer to not eat dust, wind, rain or snow so I keep my door shut. If someone comes up to talk I open the window, it can very simply be opened or closed while going over ruff terrain. Why is this a comparison between a 50hp an a 75hp machines than say the 50 hp doesn't have the same power? These comparisons are funny to read. I'll stick with CAT thank you.

Sounds like that cat could use a good greasing. I was always a fan of the pilot controls until I got on a foot controlled bobcat t770. It took a while to get used to but now I won’t grade with anything else. I was never a big fan of cat skiders and i personally have never ran a kabota but would probably pick the kabota over the cat. I like power and toughness over comfort and I run these things all day every day to finish grade type 5 rock under concrete roads and I like a machine that can plow through the middle of a rock pile without bogging down. Having run Cat I have to say they do ride nice and run well but on a daily basis my Kubota is so much easier to swap out attachments the vision out of the cat is worthless and the hydraulic attach is nothing to brag about plus the whole door thing when moving hay bales to feed cattle the Kubota is so much easier to get in and out of. And as for price I beg to differ on Kubota not being cheaper than cat cause I priced both out and Kubota easily beat Cat Aggressive Kubota dealer always wins out over cat for me cause I hear the excuse well its Cat but yet they use a Kubota motor
Cat uses the cat c3.8 engine. Not Kubota (299d)

I know several different reviews not just on this one but others people are worried that the AC won't be adequate or the heat won't be adequate and the Kubota with the vents all on one side I own a 2022 svl75-2 now I'm coming from a 763 bobcat which is 21 years older that only has heat on one side and it only has heat on one side the Kubota you are warm your feet are warm everything's warm just aim the events where you want the heat to be and it heads that way it's awesome the power is awesome I love the overhead door I'm able to get out with the boom in all positions when I'm by myself climb over top the boom chain something down on a trailer I have zero complaints about our Kubota I've now ran it 100 plus hours the power is unreal I'm sure there's bigger units out there but I love it and as far as the dealer goes no complaints there they've had everything that I've needed in stock and they've been over backwards to accommodate some of my requests.
Who cares if its loud. Does it get the job done is what matters. Good video
I have been running 259 B and D for several years now great machine easier to service I like the door on the kabota better if you run all day the air ride seat is way better and my dealer Warren Cat has great service and cat is less to purchase
Your float is on one of the overhead buttons, on the 299 it’s above the parking break if I remember correctly
If u have leather hands go with Kubota, if you have baby hands go with Cat. 😇
My Kubota svl75 cab is quiet as can be and don't rattle. It's also a brand new unit so they have probably updated them..those windows only rattle on one side which leads me to believe they have rattled loose. If not you could just put some foam tape on the other side and they would stop...I'd take Kubota reliability and performance over cat.

That's funny I own a 2019 svl75 , rough ride , undercarriage sounds like a train car , cab rattling, pump noise. I own bobcat 2017 bobcat t595 much better ride and very quiet. Kubota is a beast though
I owned a svl 75 for about 6 months and hated it. I now own a 259d and love it. Way smoother, back up camera is awesome. I can turn the radio on and run the machine for 8 hours a day and not be worn out at the end of the day. In my opinion the the CAT blows kubota away. Never had a problem with the dealer(Yancey bros) and they have been helpful in every way. The 259 is great although I will be upgrading to a 299d in the next year or so to run high flow mulchers.

Josh Cage that's what I paid for mine. Make them throw in the extended warranty if you can, also get counter weights if you are running any kind of brush cutter. I run a skid pro open front standard flow.

That cat has electric over hydraulic on the sticks, Kubota is hydraulic rover hydraulic. So your going to have full control with no delay, the cat will have delay... I don’t like delays. And more visibility.
Not just that,with EH controls,youre into greater expense,and a lot more to go wrong.Mechanical or pilot controls are simple,straight to the valves,very limited in the electrical area.
Good info, but -1 for running that thing with garage doors closed and everything sealed. Hope the dog is ok.

Got a 2021 cat259D3. The 249 is underpowered. I don't like the door, I don't like the float. But... Cat is just more advanced, more refined, more comfortable. Most powerful ctl I've ever run is the takuechi, and I've run em all. They are very much like a Kubota. I'd still take the Cat.

I thought I loved Kubota in the beginning I had one 90-2 and two 95-2s now I have a Cat279d3 the thing is so much better all around for the operator. Sure the Kubota is stronger not by much though. I was eating dust black all up in my nose Kubota was killing me! The Cat is a dream inside. Heat seats, back up cam, air seat standard! Bluetooth radio and the cab is one piece so it’s actually pressurized! Kubota doesn’t break down it’s super strong but the cabs are loud and built like shit! Cat all the way!!
Cat makes a great dozer, but a crap slid steer only one worse is a bobcat....stick with orange
What's the advantage of tracks vs wheels? Does Cat make a tracked unit?
3cl1 tracks far better in dirt or soft surfaces
Tracks exert WAY less pressure on the ground and do less turf damage, they can be operated in very wet and muddy conditions. Less chance of tipping on slopes. They don't rock as much while transporting heavy loads across terrain. They cost significantly more, 10k-12k. They are more expensive then tires to replace as well.
I have a 249 d. I love it. Makes me loads of money.

People forget to realize you’re in a heavy piece of machinery. Keep it simple, no need for all those displays and screens gizmos
They keep the inside simple because then you don’t have things breaking all the time. 10 years behind I don’t agree with that at all. The seat is good and the controls are way better on the Kubota then the cat and at the end of the day that is all that matters. Controls matter, not how much air u get or how laud the engine is. They make ear protection with radios for that.
Cat is a stupid LOOKING LOADER but you need to grease that machine PLEASE!

My local Kobota deal stopped selling these due to all of this issues their customers were having on these track loafers. Wiring issues, hydro issues and heat issues on regen...

Jesus christ, put a radio in it, you wont hear any of the rattles. The Kubota is a better machine. I just cant stand the electric over hydraulic stuff. Also, what are y'all using the float for, I've been running skid steers for almost 20 years now, ive messed around with the float but see absolutely no good reason for it unless your grade work sucks and you need it so your work looks better.

If you do ever break down, especially with the bucket in the air, how are you going to get out of the cat...? Oh wait you cant, the door seings out. Haha you have to push out the back window. Had to do it with a case and a coupleWe own a svl 90-2 right at 1100 hours and this thing is a beast, tipping weight is right at 9000lbs and thats great since we set culvert ends all the time down here in north texas. Idk other than the noise, every other aspect of the kabota is better. Better tracks, bigger final drive(also welded to the carrage and that is NICE alot less wear), more power, super responsive, fast, and everything is so acesssble. Kabota is just a more dedicated TRACK LOADER. Cat and all of the other competition use the same cabs and everything, just slap tires on them and call them a skid steer lol Kabota hands down.

In the 289D I looked at a couple of weeks ago, the CAT salesman said the relief valve over the operator's head would release the bucket back to the ground should the hydraulics fail or the engine stalled. I have no experience here, just passing along the answer when I asked "What's this?"
That is true. There is a relief valve next to the seat to lower hudraulics. The D series have a thing called ride control which is above your head on the right that allows the boom to act like a shock absorber when using high speed function.and you can use it as a float if you need float. The cat also has return to dig and work tool positioning functions. The best part about cat in Australia I have found is the capped servicing price and the 3 year or 3k hrs warranty. This is not just on the drive train but on the entire machine. 24hr servicing means I drop off after work and pick up in the morning. I had the best part of 8k hrs on my last Cat skid steer and over 3k on my D series. I paid more for the cat than other machines but the D series has stepped and they have listened to the guys operating and working on them. The lay out under the cab is a step up too. Nothing laying on the bottom of the belly plate sitting in the crap that accumulates there. I have not operated the Kubota but spent years in Bobcats and the cat and the cat team over here has been a great fit for my work.
One thing is clear. It must pass the dog sniff test =]

I own a High Flow model SVL-75-2, when just moving dirt... I never idle it up all the way, no reason.. Mulching.. Yes.. have to..
When you get the Cat or any other brand that is stuck or down in a ditch or need to just get out with the arms up.. Try that with any of the other brands.. Cat brands are awesome... there is no question.. But Kubota is solid as well IMO..

@@bobwhite825 When I was first looking at track loaders, that never crossed my mind until I went to look at the Kubota. Then it clicked, and with the polycarbonate 1/2" shield, not going to just break that thing out with my Coffee mug. So far.. I have enjoyed owning the SVL 75-2.
From experience I'd choose cat over all of them all day. Much better quality better service and more reliable. And cat service guys are available everywhere.
Cat is also a good 10k+ more

Josh Cage eh I'd be cautious with cat. To them you're just another number. Also, I've seen a lot of 259's have axle problems. Best of luck with whatever you purchase.
we bought a 249 two years ago and after demoing deere, kubota, bobcat, jcb, we found the cat was only $900 more than the cheapest which was jcb. The cat was super smooth and quiet ,,,we knew in 5 years the cat would be worth more than jcb....still love the machine and no trouble

Best bet is to look into the used market at the auctions(online etc) and take the serial numbers of some used machines that interest you and go to the dealers and pull the service history on the machines. Most dealers will do that for you. Also look up the prices of drive motors/pumps/and ECU's and compare the prices across the brands. That will tell you the real story.
If there is no sequel to this skid steer adventure is probably because of carbon monoxide poisoning
Start adding up those Cat repair bills over the life of the machine and you'll shit yourself. Parts cost are also rediculous. Kubota drivetrains have been in the skidsteer market way longer. They are tried and true!!! CATS are way Overpriced. All those attention to details you talk about, over time windows rattle, carpet just gets filthy. They are not Cadillac's. They are pieces of construction equipment.
Parts cost lol. Not exactly comparing apples and oranges here but my 277B caterpillar has routinely received cheaper parts from the dealer than they have from a third party. Dealer price myth is just that. A myth. A whole auxillary valve with fittings and solenoids was 320 from cat. Seems fair imo.
Extremely unsafe you have the engine on while your garage door is closed!!

Doesn't that CAT machine run a Kubota engine? Or a Yanmar? Must say something when they don't even run their own engines. I think I'll stick with my SVL75-2 and all the extra bucks left in my wallet.
Sarah Sliverman cat runs cat engines. I think some older models had a perkins engine
The Cat 259D uses a Kubota V3307 engine. The 249D I believe uses a Perkins.
