- I thought it would be fun to dive deeper into Blackpink's history. I found out that there were many more members apart of BLACKPINK originally, but what happened to them? This is a video to answer this question.
Before anyone asks, I prefer OT4 Blackpink and I absolutely LOVE the group that debuted. The only purpose of this video is to teach people more about BLACKPINK's origin. After making this video I feel closer to BP and I hope you do too.

When I made this video I expected a lot of people to misinterpret my reasons for making the video and I DEFINITELY didn't expect 100k. The reason I made this video is just to show more of the history of BLACKPINK as a group that most people hadn't known before. I am absolutely OT4 so don't worry (as some of you have asked). I'm not sure what to do next but BP's comeback is soon and I'm ready to make more videos for you guys to watch 😊

That's pretty much the general idea how "YG" work/develop/manage their artists/trainees,at least that what i have undestood from listening and following YG's artist musics since i discovered Bigbang's Lies in 2007. Remember Hyunseung of Beast got critized and kicked out from Bigbang by YG just because he has this "poker" face all the time when he was a YG trainee as one of the reasons? he was mad talented and he is now too dont get me wrong. Also don't get the idea that only YG is the "mean and picky" CEO in korean music industry tho.
Apparently he “doesn’t have the time” to manage all his groups and artists properly. I’m a YG Stan but I’m still here w8ting on a Lee Hi, One and a Winner comeback.
Very picky and a perfectionist. He actually wants to make his version of SNSD but he couldn't get as close as perfection but to 4. His criteria is not only talent and looks but the relationship between the girls. Jennie and Jisoo have always been close and BFF while Jisoo has taken Lisa under her wings while she is struggling to adapt to Korea. When Rose came the four dorms together. Rose is the final piece to YG girl group[ puzzle but Jisoo is the glue of the group.

RenRen RenRe I agree with u. Bp has international fans, but they need local fans too. At least. Twice is more huge in numbers in terms of all category. Yes BP is far more talented than Twice but bp is not stable in terms of promotions, cb, ALBUM (a physical one), commercials, etc. But if YG promotes them more and give cb's to the girls at least quarterly they will be able to surpaas twice, but not this soon or their upcoming cb in June yet. It always takes time. AND THAT IS THE FACT. having different opinion doesn't mean we're haters of blackpink.

Okay, as the writer of this original comment I guess I might as well give my opinion as well...
Twice is very popular in Korea & Japan where as Blackpink is widely international. That’s mainly where Blackpink struggles and Twice rises, since their a Korean Girl group.
However, as BLACKPINK is my ULT GROUP, I personally think that once BP comes back they’re gonna BLOW AWAY ALOT OF RECORDS. The international fan base is KILLER. The mere fact they could have been an OT9 would have literally made fair competition for Twice.
No hate on either group bc I stan both but that’s just my opinion bc I’m a BLINK AND A ONCE. 🤷♀️
RenRen RenRe Blackpink have a bigger fandom than Twice, BP have 9.2 Million Instagram followers and 6million RUclips subscribers!
KPOP DETECTED Twice is still much more popular in Korea, where it actually matters. BP is more popular internationally but that doesn't mean much.
its so sad to see that those 5 girls didn't make it to the end (with YG) specially the oneswho debuted yet disband and the one who joined PD48.. we can really see their determination ... it was really rumored that YG will make its "YG GIRLS GENERATION"..anyways im still happy for BLACKPINK as 4 😊

The Ark was actually a great girl group but their concept didn't really sell much that's why they disbanded a year after they debuted :(

And antis say that YG just picked 4 girls and put them in a group...in YG trainees live in a internal survival show, the project of a group starts with a lot of members, and then the trainees get cut out, antis think the Blackpink members trained 4-5-6 years by just chillin in the cafeteria.

Being in yg is a test of patience tbh, but the payoff amazing. But also cuts make sense, every group runs through it most notably exo had 120 possible members, cut to 60, then 24, then 12

4 members = fair lines distribution , i prefer the BP of today tbh
The only real fair line distribution was on "Boombayah" and "Whistle". On "Playing With Fire" and "As If It's Your Last", Jisoo barely sang, and in "Stay", Lisa had almost no lines. Hope they next comeback will be fair again.

Rojé 0805 yea, they indeed have the visual worthy type of face (IDK what i'm talking about but they have the feel of one) but she(Jisoo) also did photoshoots w/ Lee Min ho and not just acting, and as I have seen that Nayeon of Twice (who was supposed to be the visual of the next girl group of JYP but Tzuyu and Mina came sooo) and that's probs why I think YG already decided that Jisoo was to be the visual of their next group eventho Miyeon and Jinny were still there

NGL they should’ve added a 5th member for variety... a deeper soulful voice could’ve had added a different dynamic/flavour to the group. I love BP as it is but, being super honest, their (singing) voices are... basic and makes me wonder how they’re going to grow/develop as a group and change things up, I do hope they surprise me and make me feel stupid for ever writing this comment bc I love them very much :)

They’ve been around for two years now, other than 5 songs (plus covers) they’ve made appearances in variety shows, vlives, etc. whatever extra especial thing they can do with their voices or as dancers they’ve already shown, that’s why I’m scared for their development as artists, plus even though they haven’t have had a comeback they’ve been half *ssing every performance. I said I wanted to be surprised so I’m not going anywhere I want them to be successful. Now, as a fan yourself you can either take this the right or wrong way, but I’d appreciate that you nicely tell me why my statement is wrong rather that just being petty and say “you’ve made this judgment based off of 5 songs? Wow....” :)
jenchuliChaeng In you area - You don’t have a good sense of the industry or how it works, you’re just talking in a very biased way, it’s cool that you just see their good side/attributes but they need to improve A LOT, they’ve show most of what they can do and if you can’t see that then you - probably - are not a singer or dancer, there’s room for improvement and of course they will improve and when you see something new they come up with that they’ve improved, it hasn’t been there all along. I don’t even want to talk about past members mentioned in the video bc I don’t know them, so Miyeon having or not having stage presence doesn’t make Black Pink any better. I’m not saying they should add a new member now, it’s too late for that, I do still think would’ve made the group more interesting, yes.There are PLENTY of groups who perform the same song FOR YEARS but they are greedy enough, they want to succeed so bad, that they NEVER half *ss ANYTHING, to their disadvantage they are a team and even if one is lacking in a performance the whole thing looks like a mess.
BP is actually my favourite girl group right now and the one who needs to improve the most is actually my bias, Jisoo. I love them very much, but even as a fan I can see they lack and that’s not a bad thing it’s just being realistic.

For example imagine how freaking good the the song is going to be if BlackPink has someone like Wendy from red velvet, girl my wig is already snatched also It's add the variety to the group They can't make same thing forever.That's seem bad but that's just how the industry work. They are always a newer fresher group wait to snatch the crown.
In the end I don't hate the OT4 I think they are perfect in many ways this is just my opinion.

Wow so sad seeing the ARK mentioned so underated and now gone. Reckon if it had been 9 members we wouldn't be screaming for comeback all the time. BlackPink as a subunit coming back once a year would make sense under this format perhaps there might have even been another subunit as well but we will never know. Interesting that JYP got there first with his own version.

Tiffy Wiffy sub unit is like a grp under another group.
For example: TTS is the subunit of SNSD, EXO CBX is the sub unit of EXO, VIXX LR is the subunit of VIXX.
So subunit consists of some members of the main group and they will perform as the subunit.
So it's like a family tree sort of stuff (like NCT)

The process of creating a group, with adding and eliminating members to see which line up works the best, is practice in all of Kpop. YG however is pretty vocal about the groups he's creating, so when he was running his mouth about the 9 membered YG style SNSD, even teasing members that would feature and subsequently didn't make the cut.... that makes them come off as a little incompetent tbh.
LMFAO the original lineup was Euna, Eunbi, Jenny, Lisa, Miyeon, Jisoo and Rosé. But Rosé didn't have the chance to be in the group when Euna was here. Jinny Park was NEVER confirmed to be in Pinkpunk, same goes for Hanna, they were just close to the members especially to Jennie and Lisa, YG never confirmed that Hanna and Jinny will be the members, it was just YGNGG assuming. OT9 never existed, it was ot7 and ot6.
Hanna and Jinny were at some point considered to be in the lineup, I followed blackpink since forever. yes they were not completely in but they were considered at some point, especially Hanna you could see them always with blackpink members in many unseen pics, but later they were not seen as much together, and this is the time they were not part of the lineup anymore and Jinny was transferred to f2ne1. For whatever reason Hanna didn't make the cut and Jinny was assigned to the other YG girl group. Hanna was Eunbi replacement I think YG probably thought Hanna was not charismatic enough and maybe her featuring with JINUSEAN made him realize she didn't fit blackpink as much.

Ot9 exist! If you follow them since pre debut you'll know that yg said that we should be expecting ot9 back then, then turned out to be 7 and 5 members but ended up with 4
Jinny and Hannah was part of BP lineup briefly. U can see their predebut pictures where Jinny, Hannah, Miyeon used to be spotted together with OT4. But there are lot of unknown girls that didn’t made cut (for example the one in Lisa’s Who’s that girl the 5th video, there are 7 girls Lisa, Jennie, Jisoo, Euna, Eunbi, Miyeon and other girl)
Lastly it was a long journey for all the girls and I wish them all the best

It seems like Miyeon was the closest to actually debuting with the girls... Most of the others left significantly before or after BP debuted. I’m glad things have worked out with her with (G)I-DLE. Considering how tough it is just to debut, she can count herself among one of the lucky few that could have been in multiple successful groups like Hyuna (WG/4minute) and Soyeon (SNSD/T-ara).

If im honest, these girls would have added to the group, everyones saying they're glad that blackpink have four instead of nine and the only downside i see is that the line distribution would go to shit.

I'm still wondering because since I've became a BLINK I love Black Pink for what their are, even their weaknesses I learned to loved it also but if Black Pink is 9 would I still loved them for what they are
Since November 2017 I found out they supposed to had more members, but if they're 9 I think I will love them also but not how much I loved the originally known Black Pink, the Black Pink consisted of only 4 members

Things happen for a reason. Honestly, I probably wouldn't be a blink if there's OT9 cos I cant have 9 eyes! It's already hard for me to have 4 for JenChuLiChaeng but I love them too much! LOL Like how I love Twice but I can't stan them hardcore cos theyre too many and it's so confusing who to have as bias. I love the Blackpink now because they're all different from each other.
