That campaign gave me trust issues in games. When they show me a character i say ''i think he will betray me'' and when he/she does i say ''i knew it''. Since mw2 i can't trust any character at first glance
I still remember the first time I played the mission I looked down and saw Shepard level his sidearm to roach's gut. It was one of those "THE FUCK?"/"Oh Shit.." moments.. never will forget it.
The following is based upon starting the mission "No Russian" and the below-mentioned timeline. Keep in mind that General Shepherd wanted a war, after losing the Marines (from the Nuke in CoD4) he wanted to get who was (ultimately responsible) and that would lead to Makarov. As far as I can piece together, Makarov knew Allen was planted in his organization because Shepherd told him, Not to mention that Makarov also know that Yuri had infiltrated the team when he was shot in the parking garage before the attack. Moving forward no one would have cared if they found a FSB Agent like Yuri, if the police could blame Allen working with the CIA. This sparked the war that Shepherd wanted and once he betrays Ghost and Roach, it becomes clear that whatever was on that DSM would link Shepard to the crimes committed at the Airport. Shepherd played his cards right however he should have made sure that all of the "former" Task Force 141 members died instead of having Price and Soap come after him. The mission does spark the conversation about mass shootings however the bigger picture was to start the war Shepherd wanted. I hope this may clear up anyone who still is wondering why Shepherd betrayed them that day.

Yuri didn't infiltrate Makarov's group. He was a part of it before he got disgusted with him due to the nuclear attack. He betrayed him and Makarov shot him in the parking lot.
Yuri was Makarov's ally, Yuri was part of the group until he called quits and leaked the information that Makarov was planning to massacre hundreds of russians, have you ever stopped and thought "How the fuck did Shepherd know that Makarov was gonna launch a massacre on Zakhaev Int'l Airport?" However, Makarov figured this out tho then got Yuri shot at the basement, and with the knowledge that Yuri leaked the information, Makarov is gonna suspect that Shepherd probably planted an agent with them, thus killing the new guy in the group.
I instantly knew Shepard was a bad guy due to his lack of tacticool gear. The man is breaking army regulations by going into the field without proper protection and armed with a non-sanctioned sidearm, this guy can't be a good guy.

The reason why sheperd betrays task force 141: " Sheperd enlist Private First Class Joseph Allen into the CIA as deepcover. Makarov plans to make a massacre reffered as " No russians ". He recruits people to join him in the massacre: Alexei borodi ( Allen ), Lev , Viktor and Viril. Sheperd says to allen to try to make friends with makarov so he wouldn't recognize allen. In the massacre alexei borodi ( Allen ) is wearing an american combat suit. At the end makarov kills alexei borodi ( Allen ) letting he's body in the airport cargo parking side. Russia wanna start WW3 because russians we're killed by feet of an america. Sheperd wants to start WW3 because american soldiers we're killed by russian feet ( In this case the marines in CoD4 that we're killed by the nuke ). After that, soap tracks down the weapons used in the massacre and searches how makarov got them. At the end the origin of the weapons belonged to brasil rio janeiro. Makarov got the weapons from a guy named alejandro rojas which he was a soldier. They also track down rojas assistant. The one who gave the weapons to makarov was rojas assistant. Both rojas and he's assistant had troubles with the militia. Task force 141 is sended there to capture rojas and interrogate him. They send from task force 141 roach, ghost, soap, meat and royce. They locate rojas assistant location and find him having troubles with the militia. At the end the squad interrogates rojas assistant and as to split soap and ghost interrogates rojas assistant. And roach, royce and meat to the favela. The favela is filled with militia and the only one who survived the favela was roach. Otherwise, meat and royce are K.I.A by the favela people. At the end, rojas is captured and interrogated by soap, ghost and roach. Rojas tells soap about a few places that makarov had interest. The gulag is one of them. While that the US gets invaded by russian forces. Rangers and the Air Force are launched to repel the attack. While that, task force 141 locates a petrolium plant that is filled with hostages and hostiles. Task force 141 disables the petrolium plant and proceeds to the place that makarovs has interest, the gulag in there is located a person who hates makarov too. The Navy of the US works with task force 141 to disable the gulag defenses. How ever task force 141 rescues a person who hates makarov intensely, captain price. Sheperd wasn't surprise that was captain price. Sheperd tells price to focus on makarov instead of what's happening to US. Price cuts down connection with sheperd and him with task force 141 goes to a russian base that has a nuclear submarine. At the end price launches the nuclear missiles to hit the US but it was to clean it from the invaders or russians. This gives makarov an alert and it totally dissapears from the radar. How ever two places from makarov we're found by task force 141. One of them was the safe house and the boneyard. Task force 141 splits again to search for makarov, Price and soap would head to the boneyard in afghanistan. And roach and ghost would head to the safehouse near the russian border. How ever the places we're on full alert so they decide to be prepare in case of anything. Roach, ghost, ozone, scarecrow, archy and toad are in the runway to clear makarovs house but they finnish getting ambushed by russian forces. The full task force makes the fastest way to the safe house, there was no sign of makarov in it but there was a file with many documents with it about makarovs intel. Roach, ghost, archy, toad, ozone and scarecrow has to hold the safe house for a while to launch a DSM to load up the files. While that scarecrow and ozone are K.I.A by russians forces while they we're protecting the DSM from hostiles and archy and toad dissapears from task force 141 radars while on communication. Sheperd didn't wanted bad reputation for him so he decides to betray task force 141. Taking away the DSM from ghost and roach and killing them in cold blood. Reason why sheperd betrayed Task Force 141: When price disobeyed sheperds order to catch makarov and go after him, sheperd knew that the operative they made of going after makarov was going straight gone if any more issues that we're important were going to divert task force 141 from the main objective and were going to extend the operative. Sheperd didn't want this and he also wanted to became a war hero by catching makarov. To avoid more issues or problems like the one that happened with price, decides to betray task force 141. edit: This is how I see MW2 and review it.

The reason shepherd betrayed is because when getting the DSM, he realized Makarov had McDonalds wifi, and wanted no one to get in his way to ask Makarov why he had shitty wifi and give him Google Fiber
TF 141 did not know that Makarov and Shepherd had worked together to create the airport terrorist attack, rather what happened was that Shepherd knew Makarov's safehouse contained the DSM that held information proving their involvement together. He refused to allow them the chance to spoil his victory and the plans of the Four Horsemen.
It’s funny though because mason was never reznov’s friend. In vorkuta he knew mason was an American CIA agent with connections he can pretty much go anywhere he wants so he reprogrammed the brainwashing that they already did to him in the bay of pigs to kill dragovich steiner and kravchenko because they betrayed the Soviet Union and mother Russia. However mason could not kill them unless reznov helped mason break out of prison. Reznov died from his own selfishness it’s crazy lmao.

No, Shepard gave Joseph Allen the undercover mission into Makarov's Inner Circle but let Vladimir know in advance. It was all one massive play to provide himself and Vladimir Makarov with the power to wage war and "bring out the best" in humanity. Don’t quote me on this but the marines work with JSOC but the marines guide there own branch besides I’m not sure if this was intended but when your first deployed to find al Assad your flying on Us Army Uh-60 Blackhawks but taking off from LHA Carriers which the navy uses and for the whole Marine campaign they use Cobras and Sea Knights which are marine helicopters so it was a Joint Operation

Yuri didn't infiltrate Makarov's group. He was a part of it before he got disgusted with him due to the nuclear attack. He betrayed him and Makarov shot him in the parking lot.
Yuri was Makarov's ally, Yuri was part of the group until he called quits and leaked the information that Makarov was planning to massacre hundreds of russians, have you ever stopped and thought "How the fuck did Shepherd know that Makarov was gonna launch a massacre on Zakhaev Int'l Airport?"
However, Makarov figured this out tho then got Yuri shot at the basement, and with the knowledge that Yuri leaked the information, Makarov is gonna suspect that Shepherd probably planted an agent with them, thus killing the new guy in the group.

I instantly knew Shepard was a bad guy due to his lack of tacticool gear. The man is breaking army regulations by going into the field without proper protection and armed with a non-sanctioned sidearm, this guy can't be a good guy.

The reason why sheperd betrays task force 141:
" Sheperd enlist Private First Class Joseph Allen into the CIA as deepcover. Makarov plans to make a massacre reffered as " No russians ". He recruits people to join him in the massacre: Alexei borodi ( Allen ), Lev , Viktor and Viril. Sheperd says to allen to try to make friends with makarov so he wouldn't recognize allen. In the massacre alexei borodi ( Allen ) is wearing an american combat suit. At the end makarov kills alexei borodi ( Allen ) letting he's body in the airport cargo parking side. Russia wanna start WW3 because russians we're killed by feet of an america. Sheperd wants to start WW3 because american soldiers we're killed by russian feet ( In this case the marines in CoD4 that we're killed by the nuke ). After that, soap tracks down the weapons used in the massacre and searches how makarov got them. At the end the origin of the weapons belonged to brasil rio janeiro. Makarov got the weapons from a guy named alejandro rojas which he was a soldier. They also track down rojas assistant. The one who gave the weapons to makarov was rojas assistant. Both rojas and he's assistant had troubles with the militia. Task force 141 is sended there to capture rojas and interrogate him. They send from task force 141 roach, ghost, soap, meat and royce. They locate rojas assistant location and find him having troubles with the militia. At the end the squad interrogates rojas assistant and as to split soap and ghost interrogates rojas assistant. And roach, royce and meat to the favela. The favela is filled with militia and the only one who survived the favela was roach. Otherwise, meat and royce are K.I.A by the favela people. At the end, rojas is captured and interrogated by soap, ghost and roach. Rojas tells soap about a few places that makarov had interest. The gulag is one of them. While that the US gets invaded by russian forces. Rangers and the Air Force are launched to repel the attack. While that, task force 141 locates a petrolium plant that is filled with hostages and hostiles. Task force 141 disables the petrolium plant and proceeds to the place that makarovs has interest, the gulag in there is located a person who hates makarov too. The Navy of the US works with task force 141 to disable the gulag defenses. How ever task force 141 rescues a person who hates makarov intensely, captain price. Sheperd wasn't surprise that was captain price. Sheperd tells price to focus on makarov instead of what's happening to US. Price cuts down connection with sheperd and him with task force 141 goes to a russian base that has a nuclear submarine. At the end price launches the nuclear missiles to hit the US but it was to clean it from the invaders or russians.
This gives makarov an alert and it totally dissapears from the radar. How ever two places from makarov we're found by task force 141. One of them was the safe house and the boneyard. Task force 141 splits again to search for makarov, Price and soap would head to the boneyard in afghanistan. And roach and ghost would head to the safehouse near the russian border. How ever the places we're on full alert so they decide to be prepare in case of anything. Roach, ghost, ozone, scarecrow, archy and toad are in the runway to clear makarovs house but they finnish getting ambushed by russian forces. The full task force makes the fastest way to the safe house, there was no sign of makarov in it but there was a file with many documents with it about makarovs intel. Roach, ghost, archy, toad, ozone and scarecrow has to hold the safe house for a while to launch a DSM to load up the files. While that scarecrow and ozone are K.I.A by russians forces while they we're protecting the DSM from hostiles and archy and toad dissapears from task force 141 radars while on communication. Sheperd didn't wanted bad reputation for him so he decides to betray task force 141. Taking away the DSM from ghost and roach and killing them in cold blood.
Reason why sheperd betrayed Task Force 141: When price disobeyed sheperds order to catch makarov and go after him, sheperd knew that the operative they made of going after makarov was going straight gone if any more issues that we're important were going to divert task force 141 from the main objective and were going to extend the operative. Sheperd didn't want this and he also wanted to became a war hero by catching makarov. To avoid more issues or problems like the one that happened with price, decides to betray task force 141.

It’s funny though because mason was never reznov’s friend. In vorkuta he knew mason was an American CIA agent with connections he can pretty much go anywhere he wants so he reprogrammed the brainwashing that they already did to him in the bay of pigs to kill dragovich steiner and kravchenko because they betrayed the Soviet Union and mother Russia. So when Shepherd saw them walking out alive from Makarov’s safe house he knew 141 would figure out He was the one who let Russia attack the United Sates, Luckily Price was the one who knew Shepherd was Responsible for the Attack on USA, and that my friends, is why 141 is worth more than an army named Shadow Company and a General named Shepherd.
