i've moved to this a couple of months ago and agree - decent everyday brew. I've bought amazon solimo, note d'espresso and pelican rouge over last couple of years but this is now cheaper and as good or better than those.
HI Mark. As someone who has done the same as you and bought the cheaper coffee beans from Amazon. How does this Aldi house blend compare to solimo and Pelican rouge? Its insane how much prices have gone up. I remember buying 2kg of Solimo for £12 and have seen it as high as £22-23 in recent months. Pelican rouge used to be about £8-9 per kg. Now its something like £10.40.
Interesting how different peoples taste profile can influence their opinion. I have just bought a bag of this yesterday; it was/is really fresh with a BBD on the bag of Feb 2026, and I wasn't that impressed. OK, its only £2 but in comparison to Waitrose Italian blend at £2.50 I felt it came a bit 'short'. This said, I pulled the shot a bit long [16g in, 32g out. ~35 secs] so it would have been over extracted, and once I have dialled it in properly it may improve the profile.
@@dmcerrrmmmm Well I had another espresso [16g in, 32 out, 28secs], and although I was better I still didn't think it was anything to 'write home about'; the Waitrose Italian style beans currently at £2.50 a bag is much better value. That said, if you like coffee with milk i.e. Latte, Cappuccino it would be fine...just that I prefer my coffee black.
M&S and Asda do some decent ground coffees especially if you like a dark roast... Aldi, Lidl and Tesco are no go's for ground coffee...Tesco do sell one of my favourites from Taylor's of Harrogate though their After Dark ground coffee is excellent but another dark roast...probably a few more to mention but I'd have to have a think about it...if you like light roasts it is very hard to find a good one in supermarkets.

The taste of this varies from time to time I have become less of a fan more recently and it's no longer my automatic go-to as the price has risen too.

I'll try and get a bag but there are no waitrose anywhere near me...maybe I'll try online to buy.
