Happy New Year to the McNairs!!! Thank you so much, Lashonda!! I know y'all will have many wonderful adventures in 2025 and I'm looking forward to them, as well!! Thanks again!! :)
Hey Dan, what an awesome way to ring in the New Year! Those shots of the colorful lights at your campsite were just magical-such a cool vibe. And you know I completely agree, a fire is an absolute must when camping. It’s not just for warmth or cooking, it really becomes the heart of the camp. There’s something about sitting around the fire that makes everything feel more connected and peaceful. Wishing you an amazing 2025, full of more paddling, camping, and adventures. Thanks for sharing this great start to the year! David PT
Thank you very much, David!! And well said: "the heart of the camp" (the fire). I agree and will remember that!! Likewise, I hope you have wonderful 2025 filled with many more great adventures!! Dan SP
🙂 Thanks Dan! Great vid....first trip I went on, I had no idea what was going on, I brought a bag of trail mix and some pork rinds or something...on a 3 night trip. And it was freezing at night. I think I was expecting 7/11's out on the side of the river 😆 when we finally got off the water, we stopped at a DQ, and that was the best bacon cheeseburger I have EVER had...got to have our good food with us to enjoy nowadays! I do like that grill!
Ba, ha, ha!!! That's cracked me up, Rob!! :D Well, at least you were getting out there and adventuring!! We stopped at subway on the way back from this trip and I got me a foot-long sub!!! :D I was very pleased with that grill. Looking forward to trying it again, soon. Thanks, Rob!!
That's very kind- thank you! I was pleased with how this one turned out. I used less music and more ambient sound...and a little more of me talking...lol. Thanks for the kind words! Happy New Year and God Bless!!
I remember that spot. Glad you had a good opportunity to camp. Food looked incredible! Hoping to get out and camp soon. Depends on the weather. Great video!! God is Good!!!
Hey Stranger!! Yes, I figured you'd recognize it. We were heading to where you and last camped, but this spot was closer and we were done with the wind...lol!! God is good!!
Ha, ha!! We both (Spira especially) loved that spot. We had a great time. We pushed over one widow-maker for you...lol! It was completely rotten, but still took some effort (and even the hatchet) because of it's size. But as you said, ALWAYS a great time on Cotaco Creek!!! :)
Another great video, Dan! It looks so relaxing to eat a good steak around the camp fire. Happy New Year! Looking forward to seeing where all you go in 2025!
I appreciate that, Dewey!! You should start sharing some of your adventures this year!! You see some wonderful things from your kayak and I know others would enjoy it, too!! Happy New Year my friend!!
It's great to have a video from you this early in the year! The glowsticks were fun! In their light, you looked a bit like Father Christmas. I couldn't paddle on New Year's Day, as there were 60-70 mph winds here, and I live near a lake, so I have no protection against wind. But I had nice paddles the days after Christmas. Happy New Year to you and your family!
Looks like you almost started the trip with a splash. The steak looked amazing. Great way to wrap up the year and start the new one. Have a blessed week, brother.
Haha, just missed you again, me and my brother went camping the night before and left the creek at about 11:30. We fought up that current to go camping. That was rough...
LOL- no way!! I was VERY surprised to see how much current there was and I was so thankful we decided to put in at Upper River Rd. Man, I bet that was a workout!! It was barely flowing when we left the next day, so either TVA was only running one generator or the rainwater finally equalized. I'm sure we'll meet soon! :)
Great kayak camping 🏕 new year trip man . I wish I could have done that man . Dan i have a question buddy ? In the video at 23:06 the camping 🏕 cooking set do you have the amazon link to that man cuz I would like to get me a set man . Thank you for sharing this video buddy .
Thanks, Mack! It was a great little trip. I meant to put the links in the video description already, but forgot. I just added them. Not sure if they work from comments. Thanks!

@SouthernPaddler Thanks you so much buddy I got it . I really appreciate that .
Where is Cotaco Creek? I Googled it and it's shows a small area just south of the Tennessee River. Is that the same creek?
That's correct! It's a tributary of the Tennessee River on the South side near Valhermoso Springs, AL.
