Decimate SHOULD NOT be used to reduce triangle count in a mesh as it tends to destroy topology unless used wisely so pointing people in that direction is just completely WRONG! This video itself isn't a good example of how to optimise a mesh although is does contain some good tips such as deleting faces that will never be seen etc. Optimisation should be thought about BEFORE you even start modelling. Knowing what your target poly count is going to be for each mesh is essential and making a high poly mesh straight off & then trying to optimise it after is just a complete waste of time. Its faster to make a low poly mesh made from different objects for Roblox and then once have the basic mesh created (Blocked out) then decide which parts of the mesh can handle a higher poly count and rework/remake those parts. Most of the time with Roblox you can get away with using really low amounts of polygons so long as the mesh "resembles" the object that's been modelled. Most people won't care how many polygons an object is made of so long as it looks like the object it's supposed to look like.
@@andyengine2661 If the asset is a minor thing in a game, if you use decimate does the topology still matter? It will look messy in blender but in roblox it would look normal right?
“With great bevels, coke great responsibility” 😂 Amazing vid btw Robuilder. Although I did not understand like half the terms in the vid, it was pretty informative and may be sth I rely back on when I actually do modelling. So thx :) ❤
i have a character BASE thats a skinned mesh and has around 5k tris, isnt the max for skinned meshes 21k tris (or was it verts i forgor) so is my base ok? remember its a character base so it has no clothes or accessories
Nice video ! I will definitely be using this for tips!
me too
best way to reduce triangles dramatically is to use decemate it removes an insane amount of triangles and keep the same formation and look of the mesh
Decimate ruins topology and is highly not recommended for optimizing meshes.

No decimate is terrible and ruins your mode the actual BEST way to reduce triangles is retopology

Nice thanks for the tutorial!
13k is still pretty high for a game asset that small

you should look up videos by Grant Abbitt if you're new to modelling with blender as his tutorials are brilliant for beginners.
@@andyengine2661 Tysm. Ima watch him
e
thx for helping an absolute noob at modelling ^-^
bro i was just wondering how to optimise meshes life saver :o

wow! this was really interesting and educational. Also the robot is soo cute!!
Thx I realy Needed a good tutorial
how long did it take u to learn how to use blender and how long for atleast good building to
Literally couldn't of come at a more perfect time
thx for the help my man
What is the application called?
Do you think you can make a menu tutorial for Roblox
F1 fans that think that’s Carlos Sainz
Day one of asking Robuilder to to do a video on how to texture waterfalls using water fall generator plug in, great video btw
:/
well it's kinda easy
I want more blender tutorials
Bots be raiding the comments
It sucks that RUclips doesn’t remove the bots
garten of banban devs need to see this video
WOW
You are the Best!
Hi
Wow
Nice
Yuh
No offence, but Eternity is him
