I really need to learn more about what the advancements in material technology they've made recently - whatever they're using for the skin on these is astounding. Louis looks amazingly fluid and bouncy as well, and that's without half of his surfacing even finished. Add in the Zootopia freestanding AA and those little Star Wars droids and Imagineering is on fire right now.
I remember when the Imagineers on a panel were discussing the immense possibilities for Galaxy’s Edge. I recall roaming droids and random rooftop battles as two of the standout topics. Droids are a start; now let’s bring in more live characters!
Characters mean casting actors. There are already characters that roam the land; more so than other lands at WDW. Disneyland that is arguable in Fantasyland.
Actually a great point, if they can match that ride they’ll have a top ride in Disneyworld. But it has to use mainly live sets/animatronics, the screens on Ratatouille and Runaway Railway feel less than Disney quality
Yeah, speaking personally I'd be satisfied if they came out and said, "We're not building anything new but we're 100% committed to bringing everything that already exists up to peak maintenance and quality and bringing staffing levels up to cope with attendance."
This! 💯 A lot of their attractions are so broken down and tired. They're in badly need of a refurb. With the exception of EPCOT, the entire WDW parks in general could use a major refresh. Everything looks so dated and old. I understand they may not like to close rides down for long periods of time but it has to be done. I know it'll piss off people who came there for vacation but it just has to be done. Sometimes you can't even go on some of the attractions without them stopping 2 or 3 times (sometimes for a long time too). This totally ruins the experience on the attraction. They need to do what UO did and just spend millions redoing walking paths around their parks, repainting buildings, refurbing interiors of their stores and restaurants, redoing facades, refurbishing rides with updated ride systems and projections, revamping menu's in their restaurants to update them, etc. I'd rather they did this before doing anything significant and definitely before they even start to consider a 5th gate. They can't even take care of the 4 gates they have now, they don't need a 5th gate to take care of on top of the 4. This isn't meant to be a knock on WDW...I like going there and I go there a lot and these are my observations while I'm there. The parks just need to be modernized which I know will piss off the boomer generation who just want WDW to be the same as their childhood but it can't stay that way forever. They need to cater to the new generation and keep their parks up to date with newer appearances and attractions. No company is too big to fail and if you don't keep up you will fail.
I hope the new animatronic bears that are coming to the new country bear jamboree show is going to be the same great quality that's coming to the new princess tianas adventure.
I was just at MK this week and spent some time around Big Thunder. It's a heavy-traffic area today, I hope they imagineer additional ways to navigate around Tom Sawyer and Big Thunder
OK, here are my overall thoughts. I love the new animatronics for Tiana‘s Bayou Adventure, I’m still not really on board with the whole Encanto and Indiana Jones for Animal Kingdom but but I do have a glimmer of hope that they can make it work, the Star Tours update is surprisingly good even though I’ve been pitching many times to change the entire ride into a WALL-E Dark Ride, and I really hope that we actually get a more concrete plan of what’s going on behind Big Thunder Mountain
What I would love for WDW is better food. Even compared to the variety and quality at DL, the food at MK is pathetic. The themed food, like at Tokyo DL should be that standard at WDW.
I love the quality of these new animatronics coming to the Princess Tiana's adventure. I hope the animatronic bears for the new country bear jamboree show gets the same great quality. Besides if your gonna revamp a fan favorite attraction it only makes sense to go all out.
It’s rumored Iger said the ride is boring, but after seeing the AA it might not matter. If it ends up being you just float through a party with great music and a few funny sight gags I think I’ll be happy.
Was sad to see Splash Mountain go but if they can make improvements and have it be a really great ride, I have no complaints and look forward to riding it. And the New Orleans theme is so fun, they can do a lot with that too
Same here, I looooved the zipadeedoodah track, would sing it all day at disneyland, and the characters were cute and original, but Princess and the Frog is a great movie, New Orleans is a great theming, and I’m sure this will be a great ride!
So excited about the Tiana animatronics. Give me old school dark rides with awesome animatronics all day! Also, I think that South America expansion for Animal Kingdom is going to be fabulous. So many great animals they can introduce.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure animatronics look amazing, now this may not happen but if Disneyland Paris is going to get a Lion King attraction I hope they bring the characters to life in this way, sue this hasn’t got to do with what I watched on this video but animatronics are a great way of telling a story in any attraction in Disney parks.
Just a fun thought for the Indiana Jones ride, the Yucatan peninsula was where the asteroid crash landed into earth 65 MYA. If the Imagineers went there, it could mean that we will still have the dinosaur animatronics.
I don't have a problem with little projects at a time. My problem is finishing the projects on time with minimal cuts. Disney needs to step up and come up with people eater projects. Not every new ride or experience needs to be epic but magical is what will make people happy. As for cost, people pay for what they want. The purchase can be a new truck, expensive vacation, new phones, or whatever makes you happy. Value is a personal matter. Lay off of Tom please. My poor one income family of seven made 2 trips to WDW when I was a child. Yes, we camped, didn't eat in the parks, and no souvenirs but we had a good time anyways. Vacations are what you make of them. It isn't always about money. Shoot I was 50 years old when I finally stayed on property.
These are some great looking animatronics. Much better than what I’m feeling about the big green blob of an exterior. Encouraging progress for sure. Hope there are some great songs to pair with these characters.
It’s frustrating to see these awesome looking animatronics and knowing the potential of Imagineering and then knowing that they have too short change a Tianna attraction by pigeonholing it as an overlay vs being able to create a brand new attraction for Tianna (*that would expand capacity & would’ve kept Splash around)
There was no world where Splash was kept around. Sorry to be the pessimist but it would not have happened for long. Splash was on its way out and looked dated for a while.
@@AppleGaming4RealWhile yes I agree there was no way Splash was staying around, I would like to mention that I believe it only started looking dated around 2017-2019, it was pretty well maintained up until around then. But yes, even if Tiana got her own attraction Splash would have just been rethemed to something else.
I am glad that Disney Parks are making some positive changes, and I agree that it's tempting to "want to hate" Disney. But I think the real problem I have is with the rotton core of Disney--their film division. The damage has already been done, and no amount of successful theme park recovery is going to fix the problems with Star Wars, Marvel, etc. 😢
Gonna be honest Tom think since you and Disney partnered up again lot more “positive” coverage of Disney rather than what we loved which was real unfiltered coverage I think what no one wants to bring up is the amount of new rides universal has brought in that time period over the last decade as well they opened a water park, velocicoaster minions new Harry Potter world dreamworks land coming, kong ride, Jason Bourne show, Hagrids jimmy fallon ride and they have two less operating parks on top of a brand new theme park in development
I agree!!! Saying that avatar, Toy Story land, GE were constructed with Epic universe in mind is silly. The scale and potential immersive experiences that Epic will offer will be far superior to those expansions. Tron and Guardians were decent additions but wouldn’t pull me away from going to epic. Avatar land will be close to 10 years old when epic opens. I’m surprised Tom didn’t have a laugh when Iger countered the question with the answer he gave.
Love this and I agree this could be the start of stepping up . With Epic at Universal and an increase in spend at Walt Disney world it’s a total win for Orlando and us Theme Park fans
If only that Frontierland expansion was Western River Expedition. Re: Bullish about spending, that's just the problem. Losses ( or underperformance on movies ) and bullish spending, compensated by raising prices, reducing features and inadequate CM cost of living raises. If only the adults were back in charge, not the wild spenders. Fix and clean what's broken before you build new. Clean your house before buying more stuff, etc. Responsibility first. Too bad about Peltz.
You realize Pelz would just cut things to increase profits...and if WRE was built it would be closed by now for being racist and trivializing culture and firearms
I work at an attraction in Las Vegas, and the last two weeks of spring break have been bigger than ever. (At least way bigger than this time last year). Might be a very busy tourist season this summer across the country. (Or not? Lol)
Animatronics look amazing definitely what should be released in this day and age being 2024, however I hate to think what it will look like in a year, Disney better maintain them or it will turn into rise of the resistance where when you go through the ride it is a game to count all the broken things lol P.S. they need to fix rise completely and ASAP that ride needs some serious downtime
The animatronics are absolutely amazing, ESPECIALLY mama Odie, LOVE IT. shame after the first year we will prolly never see them working again :P sadly the more complex and high tech the animatronic, the more likely it goes down.
tom, you hit the nail on the head with the whole chapek-iger transition. i tried telling people to give change some time, but nobody wanted to listen. its so hard trying to fix a ton of small problems that all accumulate to a big problem. we dont know what all was going on behind the scenes, and tiana's bayou adventure is a good example of that. its not fair to the team behind that ride to scrap everything they worked on story and concept wise that they made during the chapek era, and it shows with the supposed "bob iger says the rides boring" thing. thats why they are putting so much into it with set dressing and animatronics. they're making up for what they lost in the earlier stages. give it some time. we'll see disney bounce back even if its not a lot.
Tom, I'm right there with you on being optimistic on Tiana. Loved the hidden Mickey's in Louis' sheet metal. I truly hope the majority, if not all of the beyond Big Thunder is Villain's land!
I was there on the 4th, too! Didn't have park hopper so I was stuck! Lol it was miserable and I felt bad for the kids being pulled and dragged through all those crowds with not enough to do because the wait times were so long. Glad it was a solo trip for me, so I didn't have my kids with me.
Not random about April 4th. It was a complete madhouse! I was there. I have never seen more people shoved into MK. I waited about 40 minutes for some corn dog nuggets AFTER pushing the 'I am here, prepare my food' button at Casey's Corner! Also, we all stood in a GIANT crowd for at least a half hour after MK fireworks because no one could move anywhere...at all! Genie plus was a disaster, and cost more than ever - $39.99. It was SO sad to see all the kids being dragged, pushed, pulled through the giant crowds of people, or shoved through crowds In a stroller. Everyone was so miserable and you had touch other people everywhere you went. It was NOT magical.
What does that mean? Mystic Manor rethemed is just any of the trackless rides. What makes Mystic Manor what it is, is the theme, story, characters, and scenes. I’m sorry, making it trackless doesn’t make it Mystic Manor. Ask Runaway Railway…
I am so sad to not here zippity doo da in the parks anymore but I am SO insanely obsessed with these animatronics. I do everything I can (legally) to see all the cool animatronics disney puts out. Seeing those I feel like Walt nd Roy would actually be proud of those. I can't wait to see them.
I really wish they would just scrap Indiana jobes and make it a full flushed out coco ride focusing on the alebrije since animal kingdom was going to focus on the mythical. It seems weird to have two animated movies and a non animated movie in the same land/area
They changed it to Indiana Jones and Encanto because people complained incessantly about the original, intended reimagining...Which actually made more sense thematically than what they're going with now. Tom did a video where he mentions this.
You look rested! Hope the sinus headache is gone! Wow! Tiana looks good! I think they might end up doing that ride right and it is nice to the bear butt in the log. Cute and funny. Galaxys Edge droids are cute. I hope they will be a regular part of the park.
Your honesty is why i'm an avid listener and subscriber :) Yes, I wish Disney was a bit more thoughtful from the beginning when it comes to attraction and land additions over the past decade, but I can't pretend that they haven't been taking steps towards positive change with the knowledge that Epic Universe IS coming. I may have qualms because i'm of the demographic that can only visit the parks rarely due to finances, but the reality is that i'm not the target audience for consistant parks visits (which is where the bulk of income would likely be) so of course the changes in business models wouldn't be in favor for those like myself. I (and by extension 'We') will need to be patient. Give the changes in motion time to come to fruition, and that one trip I can pull together in a couple years can be just as magical as the one's I remember growing up 🥰 ....still hate Zootopia going into the tree though 🤢 Why that record breaking film doesn't already have a permanant land in Animal Kingdom i'll never know.
I really hope this expansion is not just talking and no movement. I agree that things take a long time to improve or be created but i still think universal is moving far faster. For the last few years Disney hasn't had any real plans and their current plans have been milking loyal customers and the proof is in the pudding.
Disney negative community listening only to the echo chamber of negativity not the truth. WDW is still far beyond Universal. We shall see once EPIC Universe opens next year. Until then what has Universal done??? It’s okay i will wait???
What about all the closures universal has had? We’re just gonna ignore all the attractions they shut down like Spider-Man and others and not to mention universals hours are terrible when I was there in January
I was lukewarm on the Tiana Bayou Advebture, I was concerned about the quality, and the music. I an bow excited for the project, though I doubt it will open before my early June trip, I will see it in February. I just wish they had waited to redo the Country Bears until Tiana opened.
It needs an attraction other than RoR...It's basically just a half-assed themed shopping area in the end. Kinda like Dragon Alley in a way but at least Diagon Alley was extremely well done inside and out and has interactive elements around the entire land with their wand experience.
Those new attractions lack from reliability and thus accessibility. It cost time and money to get on those new rides and some have replaced and not added to park attractions.
Typical Disney, half of their new attractions are just an existing ride or building reimagined (Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, the latest Star Tours, Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, the upcoming Indiana Jones, Country Bears, etc.)
Disney needs to step away from trying to preach to its audience about social justice and get back to the magic. Things are looking good and I am excited for the future.
The animatronics for Tiana's look great. I'm so glad they've given up on those wretched projection heads. However, while I do think it's about time they included central and South America in Animal Kingdom, I absolutely don't think jamming all this IP into it is the way to go about it. Neither Coco, Encanto, nor Indy have even the slightest thing to do with nature or conservation. If they could ever get their heads pulled out of the IP mire they'd see that... Honestly at this point they should just give up pretending that AK even has an overarching theme anymore.

The Louis animatronic by itself must have cost a fortune.
So looking forward to Tiana's!! No screen faces.
All the animatronics are incredible but my favorite is Mama Odie. I really loved seeing all the detail under Lewis’ skin, it was amazing.
Great job with the news. Keep all the content coming from Japan Tom! It’s wonderful
Im glad to finally SEE the animatronics. It’s inspiring confidence for the overall quality of the attraction.
I hope they add money to the maintenance budget so all the broken things can be fixed.
Yeah, speaking personally I'd be satisfied if they came out and said, "We're not building anything new but we're 100% committed to bringing everything that already exists up to peak maintenance and quality and bringing staffing levels up to cope with attendance."

True but will Disney actually maintain them or will half of the stuff be broken like Rise of the Resistance in less than a year lol
@@adamp2384 maaaaan I'm trying to stay positive but you ain't wrong.
They should’ve scrapped Indiana Jones and Encanto for Pixar’s Up and The Emperor’s New Groove
Me too
As much money as they are making, these droids should be daily thing at all times.
You look rested! Hope the sinus headache is gone! Wow! Tiana looks good! I think they might end up doing that ride right and it is nice to the bear butt in the log. Cute and funny. Galaxys Edge droids are cute. I hope they will be a regular part of the park.
does anyone really want indiana jones anymore?
Things will be better from here
Test Track 3.0 World Of Motion concept is released
Unfortunately
Its still Test Track by Chevrolet lol
General Motors owns Chevrolet, they’ve always sponsored that pavilion even in the world of motion days.
Chevrolet is the only reason it's being refurbed in the first place. Who do you think is shelling out most or all of the funding for it? GM!
Give the changes in motion time to come to fruition, and that one trip I can pull together in a couple years can be just as magical as the one's I remember growing up 🥰
....still hate Zootopia going into the tree though 🤢 Why that record breaking film doesn't already have a permanant land in Animal Kingdom i'll never know.
I’m also excited about epic universe coming and also hated about zootopia into the tree of life
I really hope this expansion is not just talking and no movement. I agree that things take a long time to improve or be created but i still think universal is moving far faster. For the last few years Disney hasn't had any real plans and their current plans have been milking loyal customers and the proof is in the pudding.
Have you not listened to a word he said?
Disney negative community listening only to the echo chamber of negativity not the truth. WDW is still far beyond Universal. We shall see once EPIC Universe opens next year. Until then what has Universal done??? It’s okay i will wait???
What about all the closures universal has had? We’re just gonna ignore all the attractions they shut down like Spider-Man and others and not to mention universals hours are terrible when I was there in January
@@zarajenkins6948probably didn’t 😂

Just found out Test Track is closing 3 weeks before our trip. It's my favourite ride. Gutted.
Just think of it being even better next time you come. Itll be worth it!
I trusted your channel more when you weren't on the media list.
The video thumbnail makes it look like Tom got a huge mohawk.
But why do t we ever get any of the fun droids and stuff at WDW galaxy’s edge? When u walk thru there it just seems dead
It's because Disney wants people to go to Disneyland! I know this is a dumb reason but٫ that's just how it works!
Being hopeful here. Think of DL as a beta testing site. DL works out the bugs, and WDW gets a finished product.
@@veronicareitherreese6671 No! That's not how it works around here!
@@jeanhealy3132 That is why I used the word hopeful.
I Think that Coco should come to Epcot
I was thinking the same thing
They could integrate it a little more in to the Mexico pavilion yeah.
Yea sorry, I feel Mexico (Coco), Colombia (Encanto), Indie (Central America) all 3 makes sense to me for AK
I was lukewarm on the Tiana Bayou Advebture, I was concerned about the quality, and the music. I an bow excited for the project, though I doubt it will open before my early June trip, I will see it in February. I just wish they had waited to redo the Country Bears until Tiana opened.
Droid walk duck
Galaxy Edge needs an expansion to further take into Star Wars universe.
Typical Disney, half of their new attractions are just an existing ride or building reimagined
(Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, the latest Star Tours, Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, the upcoming Indiana Jones, Country Bears, etc.)
Disney needs to step away from trying to preach to its audience about social justice and get back to the magic. Things are looking good and I am excited for the future.

Can you show us your Big Bad Wolf plush in the next video or vlog? The Tokyo merch is always so cool!
Now I can’t wait to go on Star Tours.
