If you want to add another layer of encryption - engrave all numbers and just memorise the last one - like a pin code number. Write it down somewhere else, keep it in an email, keep it on a keychain, engrave it to the inside of your wedding ring, tattoo it to your under lip, transfer it to a QR code, print it, and stick it behind a clock.
Beautiful hardware, and I understand the need to brand the product especially since it is a new company, but is there a way to not have the "Cryptotag" words there? I get it, if there's no brand then there's no recognition. But given that this is a security product, I would have thought it'd be common sense to not have the words "crypto" screaming on the cover of the device.
I agree... additionally, i'm a little confused given that it can easily be translated by anyone. It's basically a fancy piece of paper with your seed phrase on it.

Good video. Straight to the point. However, for old fogies like me you should have spent time sowing how to convert a word to the numeric code and back. I don't get that part. But thanks.
If you want to add an extra layer of encryption put in the numbers backwards. This way if someone were to find/steal it they will translate it incorrectly keeping your crypto safe.
The number wich are already on the plate itself, are they printed on, or are they cut into the titanium? Like in a fire, would the numers still be visible? Otherwise you would only see you punshed holes without the actual numbers..
It's a good question and I'd like the answer as well - but realistically speaking, the worst case scenario would be you having to compare it to an unused one.
@@virtualmartini They are laser cut into the titanium. So they should still be visible after a fire. It would also be possible to compare them to an unused one, yes.
You wouldn’t want to do that. They can save those words when you enter your numbers or words. The BIP39 wordlist is delivered with it and you can also find it om Github. It’s open source. So you don’t have to convert them for yourself, they’re already converted
As Indy stated, it's not safe to generate words into numbers and vice versa on a website. The wordlist is delivered with the CRYPTOTAG and also available on our website. It is an industry-standard, so also on github.com/bitcoin/bips/blob/master/bip-0039/english.txt 🔒
I may be dumb, but the plate itself isn't secure? so just like if someone steals/finds your paper copy of a seed phrase they can find/steal this and gain access, so what is the point?
The point is that it is physically resistant to other things that would destroy your backup such as a flood or fire. You still have to hide this thing to keep your keys secure.
Great explanation. This is for the HODLers.

Bad idea, with the other 11 or 23 words available, the last word is easy to brute force. (Only takes 2048 tries ifirc)

Thanks for the review! Much appreciated!
One thing though: Favorite is 0673...and i hope you did the other words correct bro :D
Classic rookie mistake right there in the explanation aaand its gone!
Yeah I looked it up when he said that and was like uh oh
Lol, I was just looking up the numbers and thought the same thing

You is bad!
don't do that. there is a checksum in the last word
@@UserHuge Why can't you do that? Checksum has nothing to do with what he's saying. Am I wrong?

Why he should destroy his plate for nothing

Hi what's the best site for converting bip39 code to words as can't find a site where I just input number to generate my word cheers

Is this best for keeping in a safe or if you were on the go and needed your seed phrase with hardware wallet?
Not on the go for sure. Ledger hardware wallet for on the go, this for in safe.
Not in the safe either, unless you have a fully hidden safe such as a secret compartment that has the safe inside it.
how any seed phrases can you store? Meaning, like 2 sets of 24 words for example? Thanks
According to the website, you can store up to 24 words, so 12 words on each plate. You could store 2 wallets if you used 12 word mnemonics though.
Excellent greetings here from Brazil. Hug!
Then some clown finds your Zeus and starts punching random holes😢
Sleep more bro.
