  • Here's the test so far. Not looking good for the home team. If anyone has any good ideas as to what to do with useless Lifepo4 prismatic cells, please let me know, I have access to about 100 of them. Next step looks like recycling.

Nevermind my stupid question. Thanks for the interesting video no less.

I lost many of these because I didn't know that you should never attempt to charge a LiFePO4 battery if the temperature is below 32°F (0 degrees Celcius). Doing so can cause lithium plating, a process that lowers your battery’s capacity and can cause short circuits, damaging it irreparably.

Oh man, that sucks. An expensive lesson no doubt.

That‘s sad…. Why dont you leave it on rher for like… a year? They probably heat up, but that could help. Or you could also do small cycles. Also if it isn‘t much. Cycle them. That really helps with lead acid.

Left a 32650 from a led solar light for a night and it's gone they are not so bulletproof as many know..

Wow what bummer all that lithium and none of them were good ouch.

It hurts to see what could have been an excellent battery bank DOA. No doubt. Kids, disconnect your BMS before long term storage, that’s the lesson here.

I was just shipped "new" cells, one at 1.5V...

      That's a return or a refund.

@@NoelBarlau Hoping for a refund, perhaps it still has some capacity remaining.

I have same situation with egolf lithium cells. Any ideas how to revive them? Some sit on 1.2v

All you can do is try to put them on a constant voltage constant current power supply and see if they come back to life. There are no special tricks. Sorry.

What happen to the cells ? Afterwards you still have them so do you remember what’s the weight of each cell I got some small lifepo4 a123 and they also dead from a skateboard unit and my charger didn’t even let me charge try multi time and w different cells nope it’s like they are shorter inside or chemical reaction is dead . I had this happen to lithium ion but those work easy w my charger takes a long time but it does it but this lifepo4 nope and they are 26650

    Do they have BMS?

    • @NoelBarlau
      @NoelBarlau  2 года назад

Nope, they're completely dead. No need for BMS.

I had some 0 volt life po4 prismatic cell and configure them into a 12v battery. I use one of those smart htrc bat chargers from Amazon and hook them up into the repair setting for like 2 days, then it recognized them and automatically charge them as a 12v lifepo4 battery.

They been working fine. That repair setting does wonder it even repair some very old lead acid batteries back to life. It’s worth giving them a try. I pay like 40 bucks for that htrc smart charger from Amazon

It brings to mind that scene from The Princess Bride: "There' a big difference between only mostly dead and all dead."

@@NoelBarlauAbout the celk that regressed.. if the capacity is as much as you say then that's normal even for a brand new battery. You gotta give it DAYS/week or 2 to draw a real conclusion.
