‘Opened the floodgates’: Albanese government has ‘lost control’ of Australia’s borders

- Nationals Senator Matt Canavan has slammed the Albanese government for having “lost control” of Australia’s borders and “opening the floodgates” after Covid.
Labor’s primary vote has slumped to its lowest level since the 2022 election, according to the latest Newspoll.
Support for Labor has fallen by one per cent to 31 per cent, while the Coalition’s primary vote remains steady at 38 per cent.
“There simply isn’t enough homes in Australia,” Mr Canavan told Sky News host Paul Murray.
“The reason there isn’t enough homes is that this government has lost control of our borders.
“They came into office with the job of opening up after Covid. They just opened the floodgates.”

EXACTLY correct. We need to STOP non-citizens from buying Australian domestic housing, EVER, and legislate those that do own domestic housing must sell their current holdings within 2 years to get Australian families into home ownership.
In most Asian countries you cannot buy property unless a citizen, w3 should be the same, plenty of properties bought by overseas clients sit empty, this is an investment by the rich, and do they actually pay any tax on the empty property, even if they do they are rich don’t care

Current year 12 students are allowed to do tests at home and with access to the internet. People are saying they can cheat, but the scary thing is there is no job for these students and no middle class average working life ahead of them. The government has completely given up on the next generations of Australians and tbh the current. It’s cheaper to import workers that raise them up and give them a life justifying their taxes. This government has cemented that this government no longer cares about its people and Aussie way of life.
Why do we allow politicians to do policies that they didn't run on when we vote for them. There was no talk about giving the 3% Aboriginal population the power to decide what you the other 97% did with their land by having a "Yes" vote. If you didn't run on the policy, you can't implement a policy unless you let the people vote on it. Politicians do the will of the people!

I just paid my gas bill, I compared it to one I received in 2021 and my current bill was just under double what I paid for the same time in 2021. I compared rates.... The increase was just under a 90% increase....thanks Albo... Your gone at the next election!!!!!!

When rent rises. The income of the owner of the property rises. So does that mean that the owner pays more tax? When petrol costs rise does more money go to tax. When everything rises there is more money going to tax. Where does all this tax money go? How much tax money has been acquired in tax since when? ?

Housing policy…stop immigration for 4 years…close down half of the universities and direct kids into building trades also stop The Arts courses in schools and Unis. Stop all major building plans and have all tradies from these sites start building houses or start building up with actual large house size apartments.

Politicians do not want more affordable housing built. It is a fact that most of them own 3-4 properties each themselves. And nobody wants low cost or more affordable housing built in their locales because it would change the supply and reduce the value of THEIR houses/assets So they keep importing more and more people to push up the demand and prices. It's the vested interest that is causing this problem.
That argument falls flat the moment you ask these homeowners what having a homeless camp in their street does to the value of their home. Which is preferable, having social housing in your street (with a good tenant) or having people living in the street because they can't afford a roof over their head

Sorry, I don't see how that complicated proposition saves squillions rather than costing it. Solar panels are expensive wherever you put them. Spread them out across that many rooves and yikes, how do you even service it all? Personally I back establishing nuclear power.
How about doing what some other countries are doing and cover huge carparks( supermarket etc.) with solar panels instead of destroying farmland.

Money saved in Capital works for Solar farms, purchase/confiscation of productive farmland, money saved on transmission lines( more destruction of the environment!) I'm no genius yet I can see a better way than what Bowen is doing!

Its all these things mentioned in the comments , here is one example, i have a manufacturing business, sinse labour/greens/teals have been in power my power bill has risen by $18,000 , i have to pass this on to the customers, nobody is happy about that , this is where the inflation starts , more income ,more tax for the government, we dont make any more profit , this is only one category , ther are hundreds of examples like this in business , the government loves the high cost of living , the gst alone is massive revenue, the tax we pay after being taxed , its top to bottom there is no escape from this government's costs to Australians
