ok now that i finished the video i want to write a response. i can 100% relate to you when you say that you felt like you had to prove that you are worthy of the opportunities you've gotten through grades. Last semester I took a SWE class and after getting a poor grade on *one singular* assignment, I had a huge breakdown because I was extremely afraid of being bad at my major. As one of the only women and Latine people in my classes, I have a constant feeling of "i dont belong here" or "people assume I'm stupid." I'm SO glad you're talking about this because I really needed to hear it. But one small critique I do have is that going to Cornell brings you a degree of "ivy privilege" which, in a way, takes weight off of your GPA when it comes to employment. Nonetheless, I do agree that GPA is not make or break when it comes to CS. The fact that even now I feel an urge to say that I've maintained a 4.0 shows that there is more self reflection to be done. there is more to life than school :)
thank youuu for sharing, and i definitely agree about the privileges that i have as an ivy league student and some of the pressures that are alleviated because of it! i really appreciate your perspective and if you ever need that reminder that you belong in tech and are worthy of being in any spaces youre navigating im here for you!!!!
You don't regret getting A's in college. You regret your motivation (and mindset/methods) for getting A's in college . Edit: I wrote this comment before getting to 12:16.
