It’s honestly so nice to follow a creator that is feeling what we are feeling. I feel so validated. I’ve also had trouble reading my book the past week but I keep trying.
You are not alone right now. I’ve been sick with fear since last week, but I’m trying to keep a routine and let it not get the best of me. I need to find your club on Fable, maybe we should try to read banned books!?! Idk man. I’m sending you love though.
Not necessarily banned books... But I feel that perhaps reading Margaret Atwood's The Handmaid's Tale and The Testaments would be in order. Well, and perhaps Wicked by Gregory Maguire also, because they both deal with ideological backlashes.
Nah, I want to thank YOU for keeping the posts up for so long, I`ve been watching you since 2017? maybe longer... And you are my comfort watch ever since! When I feel bad, feel down or anything... I watch your videos. Thank you so much!
I agree its been a incredibly difficult couple of days but currently all we can do is hope for the best and prepare for the worst and take care of ourselves. I watched a few documentaries last night on womens rights movements and suffragettes and it filled me with such strength. The fight was never over. 💕
I deleted TikTok and Facebook, but I kept Instagram! I’m so happy you made this video. Honestly I saved your last two reading vlogs for after the election because they bring so much peace. Thanks so much for being so relatable and being you!
Sending you all the love from Canada 💖 I have been feeling sick over the election for the past week, and also actively been replacing my doom scrolling time with reading.. Your reading vlogs bring me so much peace, I usually save them for the weekends to get me through my typical weekend anxiety, but I’ve definitely been rewatching your old vlogs for comfort the last week. Grateful to see you’ve uploaded! Also, your channel REALLY helped me get back into reading. I got back into reading last year and managed 14 books after years of little reading, and this year, I’m about to finish my 40th book! The community you’ve created is very special. Courage, dear heart! I’m glad you’re carving out space for yourself. Take care of yourself 💖
I’ve been following you since 2017. The doom scroll is real. I’m so trying to get myself out of the habit. I’ve banned my kids (12 &7) from social media but often feel like a hypocrite when I’m still on my phone and went down the proverbial rabbit hole!
i genuinely am starting to think i really need to delete tiktok because of how bad the doom scrolling has gotten this past week. it’s so discouraging to constantly see political content and i get stuck feeling guilty for not talking about it “enough” but i feel so exhausted mentally and emotionally with how this election has turned out. sending love and hugs, you’re not alone💙
I deleted tik tok and twitter from my phone earlier this year and it has been amazing for my mental health. I allow myself to occasionally get on both sites on my laptop, which helped with the transition away from them, but the impulsive doomscrolling is so much harder on a bigger device so I almost never go to them anymore. It’s scary how addictive they are!
If you can’t get yourself to delete the app, something that worked for me was just putting it into a folder on my phone I don’t regularly go into. That way you can’t just click into the app, you have to go looking for it. It’ll help you pause and think without realizing it. I hope this helps 😊
I'm so sorry to you and all the women in the US. I've been following both your channel and the news v closely from europe, and I wish you all the strength and courage for the next few years :(
Your videos always help me relax when I am stressed or anxious, especially these past few weeks. Thanks for sharing this idea, I definitely need to replace my screen time with some escapism by reading too!
I’m with you. I downloaded an app blocker for all socials and I have it set to lock me out until later in the day. It’s been SO nice not to make doom scrolling the first thing I do every day when I wake up. I’ve been doing more reading and just practicing being present ❤ sending you love and solidarity. I know we’re gonna need it.
I feel like I am grieving. As an american I always would have said that the USA was not perfect by any means and had a LOT of issues but overall we were a good country. This past week has completely changed my brain chemistry. I am embarrassed to even say I am an American and have nothing but shame for this country. So in a way it is almost like the country has died to me....at least the country I thought I lived in.
I still love my LV reverse monogram kislux clutch! It's versatile, fits a variety of items, and is definitely a workhorse! I think seeing it everywhere (like the LV speedy) is proof that it's already a classic.
I love the way you say you hadn't left your house for over a week - I completely empathise with that. I'm becoming so much worse at going out and socialising and , like Clay, my husband tells me it's good to get out and see people but I'm happy in my own little cosy home bubble with my books and the dog and good food and all the cosiness of winter.
The doom scrolling is getting to all of us after the last week, I think. I deactivated FB this morning and now every time I start to pull up the app on my phone, I pull up my Kindle app instead and read a few pages of my current book.
Thank you for this reminder to stop doom scrolling. I’ve been making myself sick with it. Reading in a cozy space seems like a perfect alternative..after watching your vlogs of course ❤
I quit most social media earlier this year (and I have never been on tiktok), and it has given me back time, mental space, and sense of cyber security. I watched this feeling inspired, I hyped myself up and started listening to my audiobook but then fell asleep for 3.5 hours, woke up at the time I normally go to bed, brushed my teeth and slept for another 8 hours. At least I didn’t doom scroll… 😅
Just wanted to leave a quick suggestion to use Polident tabs for stained coffee mugs (the tabs for dentures)! Pop one in a mug with boiling water, leave for a bit, and your stain will be gone!
I spent all of last Wednesday randomly breaking out in tears and most of the time I was in public because I still had to wake up and go to work and I had to remove all my social media off my Home Screen or straight delete because I didn’t want to doom scroll.
Same on the doomscrolling! I finally deleted TikTok and Instagram off my phone yesterday. I'll probably re-download at least Instagram at the end of the week, but I needed to cut myself off.
The weather is finally nice in the desert, so I'm trying to go for a walk after work more. I had a few months of reproductive organ issues and it made things really difficult because I became anemic. I'm slowly getting better and am wanting to focus more on my mental health and physical health. I am reading more but still have those exhausted evenings when I just doom scroll.
Yeah I’ve also been on social media way more than I’ve wanted to be. It’s just hard. Hard to not want to scream from the rooftops but also hide. I have actually channeled a lot of it into reading. I’ve read 4 books sine the election and I usually only read 3-5 books per month.
I feel you Regan, it’s been an extra hard week. I’ve been drowning myself in thriller audiobooks to get my mind off things. Thanks for using your space for positivity 💙
4:30 completely off topic, but I’m watching this video while eating my breakfast oatmeal porridge from a bowl that looks identical to those in the video
I started Anne Leckie with Translation State which was a choice lol, but i really liked it, then I read Ancillary Justice and did not like it as much, should I continue on with the other two?
I completely deleted TikTok the Thursday after the election and I cannot tell you how much better I feel. Honestly, choosing to be less informed and in the loop for a little bit after constant political stuff for a year 😅
Sending all my love and support though this hard time! I love your videos and am happy you can find some peace with your cozy hobbies right now! I’m not even from America but I have been doom scrolling myself so I can truly only imagine how bad it feels for y’all right now!
I panic reread Fahrenheit 451 after the results and it only made me feel worse. I’m now reading Rhythm of War and honestly it’s such a great distraction.
I don't live in America but I understand the feeling. I live in Paraguay and have been watching you since 2013/14? And love your videos so much! Thanks for uploading and reading instead of doom scrolling lol
It must be because I'm not American that I don't get the doom scrolling. I don't know enough about American politics to really comment or tell others how to feel....but you all still live in a lucky country and last time Trump was President the world didn't end in fact there was more turmoil after his term. Ofcourse it's ok to be disapointed and have concerns but I'm sure the fight for what people care about will continue. I feel like the media has blown so much out of proportion so yeah stop social media. Like him or not fear him or not he can't rule forever and the tide will turn back again. It's just how it goes.
Going forward, I hope people learn to go to reliable news sources and NOT social media, particularly TikTok, for politics and news. We wouldn’t be at this juncture if people would just stop turning to social media for their information.
Im very happy about the election results! Politically we are not on the same page, but I love your channel and videos and will continue to enjoy them 🩷
Why do you feel the need to say that you’re happy about it when she clearly isn’t? This election more than ever is not a differing of opinion it’s a differing of core values and beliefs. I am not even American and I can see that. Regardless of how you worded it that still comes across poorly. Maybe you should keep those opinions to yourself because if you truly loved her channel and videos why would you want to rub the fact that you’re happy in her face?
@@Hamsterdance1995your response is the perfect example of why some Americans don’t like to talk about politics or voice their opinions. Too much negativity and and everyone has a right to their opinion. What matters is that people are being respectful and able to have a conversation. Maybe if you’re not American then you probably shouldn’t have a say on the matter….
@@Rachlemmthe whole world has an opinion on US politics because of what a shit show it has become. Being Canadian I have a front row seat to what’s been going on and it does involve everyone in the world since America is such a global powerhouse of a nation. The reason I responded in the first place is just to say there was no reason for OP to even say that anything in the first place. If you’re going to come into a safe space for Regan where she has already expressed her feelings on the matter there is no need to comment that you’re happy about it? I don’t have to agree with everything a RUclipsr says to have common sense and decency to know when adding to the conversation isn’t necessary. OP didn’t have to say anything but instead she expressed her opinions and I expressed mine back. If Regan had up a video of her dog being sick I wouldn’t turn around and say “well I’m having a great time because my dog isn’t sick” that would be a jerk move. But what do I know eh I’m just a Canadian.
@@Hamsterdance1995I personally don’t get why you’re getting so worked up. The person who commented isn’t all up in Regan’s face about who won the election.
Not every subscriber on here will feel the same and vise versa and that’s okay, all you can do is ignore it and move on with your life if you don’t agree🤷♀️
@@Rachlemm your final sentence is the exact point I’m trying to make so …
I don't get this new doom scrolling trend. Bizarre to me.
social media & news addicts, why so may people are crashing out..
@davidd4696 something like that.. sadly a lot of emotional reactions instead of critical thinking going around.. not accusing anyone here of that, just my general sentiment.. feels like I'm in The Twilight Zone lol.
@@the_eerie_faerie_tales That's why i advocate for people to get off of these sites, they are catered for chaos to keep you on them constantly. Another part of the problem..
At least for me, it's more that I just scroll through my phone when my brain is tired and I don't have the mental capacity to read. I'm honestly not even paying attention really to most of it.
Sorry, cant listen to this any more!
This whole month and especially since the election I’ve been doom scrolling TT and my mental health is in the gutter. I need to take a break. Appreciate you! 🤍
