The supreme master when astride a thoroughbred. Apart from his hearing and speech problems, Lester always thinks carefully about his answers when interviewed. As a lot of
people have commented he really was the greatest ever. He could ride a waiting race in front,
or come late with one of his legendary finishes. I remember how excited the racing world became when he announced his comeback in 1990, and when Royal Academy won at the Breeders Cup, well, it was just a fairy tale that you couldn't believe. The highlights were shown on Channel 4 late that night, and I'd indulged in a few beers in the pub and came home to watch the races. Dayjur jumped a shadow, and would have won for Willie Carson, and then 'The Long Fellow' punched Royal Academy home to win, and I sat and shed a few tears at the sheer enormity of the achievement. Undoubtedly - The Greatest.

Of course there are and most politicians and powerful rich people are crooked, most people In the so-called law-abiding majority are or have been criminals. Then there are the Saxe-Coburg-Gotha-Windsor trillionaire scroungers and inheritors of dodgy wealth who the mainstream media suck up to. Aside from the rights and wrongs of Lester Piggott's case, knighthoods are overrated and misleading as a sign of worth

The Real reason the Triple Crown maybe won't be done again is because most horses are bred to be ten furlong horse who might just get ten furlongs? It's more about speed than stamina now.
