Thanks for the straightforward instructions and super quick delivery of my new door seal. Managed to get it installed tonight, and won serious brownie points with my wife who now thinks I'm a washing machine engineer! Result!
Matthew Turner Well done Matthew, to earn extra brownie points check out another couple of videos to help the machine in the future: ruclips.net/video/ifWK9df1qgg/видео.html and ruclips.net/video/uKBy-9NEF5A/видео.html
Did this today. Putting the retaining clips was the trickiest part. Saved me calling out an engineer or buying a new machine. The old seal was nasty, smelled horrid and was rank. I'm so pleased I was able to do this myself. Peace.
Brilliant, I dislodged the seal the other day while cleaning it and my husband and I just followed your video on a similar Bosch model. First time I have done anything like this! Well pleased we didn't have to call anyone out.
Hi Norma, glad to hear we helped you with your problem. The seal can be easily disturbed if you are unloading a heavy load (towels for example) and pull them over the seal, to avoid disturbing or even ripping the seal take care when unloading heavy items by lifting them out. Now you have found how useful our videos can be may we recommend another video that will help you keep your machine in good condition: How to Cure a Smelly Washing Machine
Thank you for this video. It gave me confidence to have a go but I found it really difficult. Getting the retaining spring back on was so awkward, I ended up wedging a shoe in on one side while I pulled and held the other side down with my foot. The job took me over 2hrs, but I did it in the end & am praying the leak is fixed. If you're not fully agile, if you have fingernails that you value, back problems, or any arthritis in your fingers, then personally, I'd get the washing machine man in!
Thanks eSpares, got the new seal, and is now firmly installed in our washing machine. A few points though - the kick panel has a screw to remove under the drainage pipe, and also when taking front of washing machine off remove the door first, it makes it a lot more lighter to manoeuvre, and finally watch the wires on the door switch as they are connected to the front panel with a plastic clip even when two screws are removed.
Hi, Thanks for the video. Helped me change the door seal on my Bosch Exxcel 1600 express yesterday!! The most difficult bit was actually getting the retaining spring band around the new seal once that had been seated. I found that the easiest way to do this was to put the band on from the bottom and then use a big screwdriverr to just put tension on the top part of the spring and then slide it into place. This prevents the door seal rubber from coming off while trying to get the spring band on!!
Hi, This is without doubt one of the trickier spares fixes but glad you gave it a good go. Nice tip about the Shoe and foot technique utilised! We could add that to another video maybe? Thanks!
Thanks a lot. My Bosch Maxx7 door seal was crack. I found easy replacement in Cyprus for 16 euro and with your video help i replace it in a half hour. Very easy and only 6-7 screws and some clips. Thanks a lot again. Familiar disassembly like your washing machine.
Hi, thanks so much for your comment here. It is great to hear that our video has helped you to replace the seal yourself to keep your washing machine going!
Brilliant video, I changed the seal on a similar dryer in not much more than an hour even without all the best tools. Three tips though. Use a flat bladed screwdriver to lever off the retaining springs. Get a friend to help you put back these springs, three hands are much easier than two for this job. Finally, get your new seal from eSpares, great value and service.
Hi Steve, thanks so much for your comment. We are really pleased to hear that you are happy with our service, and it's great to see that our video has helped you to repair your appliance yourself!
We fully advise always going for the genuine article always. More expensive yes but will fit better, last longer and saves minor disappointments or having to re-do. Thanks.
The whole front assembly is then loose, but take care as the the door interlock wiring is still attached, HENCE WHY THE SAFETY ADVICE AT THE START OF THE VIDEO IS SO IMPORTANT...but the whole facia can then be moved to get access to the inner seal.... Great video, couldn't have done this without it
Thanks Matt for the excellent clear instructions. I am no handyman but my son and I could follow you one step at a time. Really quite enjoyed doing it together.
Excellent video and the only one on youtube that really shows what to do. My Bosch (a logixx 8) had slightly different screws and fixings etc. that had to be removed to get at the seal, but the video showed me near enough what to do. The actual replacing of the seal was exactly as shown. Very satisfying and no more mouldy rubber! Many thanks
+Rob Martin Thanks for the comments and glad you managed the repair. Most people don't understand why the seal goes mouldy in the first place. For information on this and another common problem see : ruclips.net/video/ifWK9df1qgg/видео.html and ruclips.net/video/uKBy-9NEF5A/видео.html
+eSpares I forgot to say that I did buy the door seal from eSpares :) A compatible make - less than half the price of a Bosch original and perfect for the job. Rapidly delivered so overall eSpares is definitely in my good books!
Most useful to have a full set of visual instructions, thanks. It's also worth mentioning that these seals can be destroyed by wire supports in bras, despite them being washed in a net bag. The symptom being that you get a lot of granular rubber all over the clothes and it's quite difficult to remove. Although the seal probably won't leak at first, once it's damaged like that it will eventually fail, so it's worth replacing it as soon as the damage is discovered.
Thank you so much, with your help I was able to get everything done perfectly. I struggled a lot at getting the retaining spring, but that had to do with my lack of strength. I have no mechanical training but I was able to fix the washing machine easily, it took me only 40 minutes. Thank you
Thank you, I watched the video before ordering a gasket from you - just to make sure I could tackle the job in the first place. Apart from a few small differences with my model the instruction was bob on and the after-market part is a good fit. Cheers.
Hi, thanks so much for your comment. It's great to hear that our video gave you the confidence to tackle the replacement yourself, well done for keeping your washing machine going!
Thank you very much for this video. It saved my day. I have watched many german videos and I always made the same mistakes. Then I found your video and suddenly it works. Very well explained and well shown.
Thanks worked great! My Bosch WFL2060 is stacked, so I did not remove the dashboard. I did remove the soap dish, toe panel and front panel. For front panel, remove two screws at bottom and two in door lock, then loosen only the bottom-right screw in soap opening (couldn't get out, just loosened). Removed two rings and cleaned everything with bleach and hot water. Put dish soap on rings before re-installing - found the rings pretty easy to get on. Saved my manicure with thin rubber gloves! :-)
Great instructions! I just finished doing this job and it was a piece of cake. These instructions provided everything I needed to accomplish the repair.
Best video on this and definitely was right to take the front off my Classixx machine (unlike some other videos). Only two screws holding front at the bottom; needed to slide front upwards to engage plastic tags near top when refitting. Second pair of hands briefly made it easier replace inner retaining spring band. Good advice - thanks.
Um...about that retaining spring restoration at the end. Devilishly hard. We cannot do it. Gonna call the repair guy in the morning. That was some artful editing you put in there, to put it as charitably as one possibly may.
Top video, well done. I replaced my element and did the door seal at the same time, all in about 1.5h. Just have to trace a small leak somewhere now...in any case the video was excellent.
Great Video, many thanks, saved me around £100 for a engineer visit. Screws in slightly different locations on the front panel on my Bosch, 4 at the bottom but still a great video. many thanks
Thank you Matt from eSpares, the video you uploaded was very helpful. Although it took me a little longer with persistence and patience I successfully completed this task. ;) Cheers to you!
This video saved my 15 year old machine which might have been scrapped if I'd had to pay someone over £100 for call out, parts and labour but the video meant labour was free... The only slight difference was the kicker plate on my Bosch had 1 screw. Also agree with people recomending bicycle tyre levers. If you can get someone to hold the spring bands on as you push them back too, that is also helpful. My last tip is to label each screw on a sheet of paper as you take them off so you can put them back in the correct place, there were 3 or 4 slightly different types of screw for my machine as well as the stainless steel ones, mentioned in the video!
Bang on explanation! It took me less time than watching the video. Mine washing machine is a Kenwood, but it was pretty much the same as this. Thank you.
Thanks a lot for this pretty direct and detailed information on how to exchange the door seal - it has been the very first repair to a washing machine in my life and it took me about 1/2 an hour to exchange the seal ... :-)
I already clicked the "like" button :-) All you need to get it fixed that fast is patience and it helped a lot to see how to removed and installed the seal - thx again.
thanks a alot worked a treat first time ever tried doing anything like this and did it ina hour mine was a little diff but basically the same thanks again
I have been amazed by the easy 'no problem' cut away's .... it helps to slightly lubricate the seal before fitting (WD40) so the rubber slips over the metal gutter. Plus fitting the outer ring retainer is, or can be a ball buster! (Good cut away in the vid)
+songfuzz Thanks for the comments. Some new seals are supplied with the fitting lip lightly greased to help it slip into place. On most of our other door seal videos we actually advise an old engineers trick of using liquid dish soap to smear on the gap of the seal to help this.
I just did mine. I used washing up liquid on the seal to make it slip on easier - just a bit on your index finger and smear it inside. I also covered to spring that holds the seal in place internally in fairy as well, it means if it slips off it doesn't take the whole seal off with it, so you can have a lot of goes without the rubber seal coming off too. Anyone who can do it first time is a god!
Thanks a lot. Your video helped me change the door seal of my Bosch Maxx WFO 2462. The hardest for me was to get the hairdryer down and back on top of the washing machine alone! (the springs were also a bit of a pain)
Wow you made re-fitting those springs look easy on my WF 1201 I had a nightmare with the outer one, mind I've got to say the one on your machine looked much thinner. Brilliant video BTW nice and concise no waffling like so many do. Cheers
Terrific video. It made the job very easy for me - without it, I would have taken hours. Our machine is a Bosch Maxxi Classic. The most difficult part was removing the skirting panel which is different to the one in the video. One screw has to be removed then the panel has to be slid about 6mm to the right to allow a set of plastic locating tags to slide out. And there are no screws in the door latch location - just a couple of plastic blanks where the screws might have been.
Hi mitchellboomphi, glad we helped. if your old seal had black staining to prevent it reoccurring on your new one check out another one of our videos: ruclips.net/video/ifWK9df1qgg/видео.html
Thanks for the comments Jill, the screws around the soap drawer opening can rust if not cleaned due to the detergent. May be worth watching this other video especially if there was a build up of mould on your old seal: ruclips.net/video/ifWK9df1qgg/видео.html
Thats the idea Gerry, when people see how easy it can be they may try and repair instead of replacing appliances that may have many useful years life left. Good luck if you are attempting and give us a 'shout' if we can help further.
Thanks for this video! After watching it I was successfully able to swap out the seal in about an hour. Probably more than an expert would take, but not bad for an amateur :P
Thanks so much for this video. It really helped me to change the seal on my Bosch Varioperfect 6. A slightly different routine, but your video helped me through!
Great video, second door seal I've fitted on this machine now, last one has been fitted for a couple of years but started spitting and leaking. Different supplier for this one so hope it last a little longer.
Hi Roy, we can supply the manufacturer's original seals for most machines if they are still available. To help extend the life of the seal see another video: ruclips.net/video/ifWK9df1qgg/видео.html
Did this on a Bosch Excell 8 ... Different screws etc to get to the seal so that was fine but it was an absolute nightmare trying to get the seals clipped in round it ... I had an official Bosch seal maybe it’s made from different rubber but it was a nightmare to try and get it sealed ... the wires didn’t go round anywhere near as easy as your one and I had to get the wife to help me stop it pulling everything out as they clamped on it ... Its not done yet after an hour and a half and a bunch of bruised thumbs ... this is labour intensive wi5 my machine ..yours looked so much simpler... I’d never do again .. well Done to those who succeeded ...
This is my first attempt at fixing an appliance and so far two trips to Bunnings to get the right screw head. Now I find out I need an even smaller one for the inner screws. Wish me luck
Great informative vid. Due to months of washing heavily soiled workshop clothes, the seal has accumulated black mouldy looking resin. Have you got any suggestions for cleaning the seal instead of replacing it? Thanks
Thanks e spares - getting the retaining rings on was trixy and it took two of us with a bit of brute force but better than having to wait in for someone to come and fix it
Hi Rikki, yes those retaining rings have to be tight to try and keep the seals in place. Glad you sorted your problem and to keep it in good order controling bacteria and mould see our video: ruclips.net/video/ifWK9df1qgg/видео.html
Thanks, excellent video, helped me figure out how to put door seal back on classixx 7 vario perfect. As you mentioned there were a few minor differences on my model from the one in the video but nothing major. BTW I struggled for ages before realising I wa trying to fit the seal back to front, despite the missus trying to point this out to me early on in the proceedings. Never ignore the onlookers!
I just fitted a seal to a very similar Bosch model. I was able to do it without moving the machine by .... Undoing the front retaining wire hoop and removing the seal from off the lip.... then undoing the screws at the front and the one on the side (as per the video) (It is the low screw of the two in the middle which helps holds the front facia up).... remove the plastic bottom cover...
Thanks for posting this video! I've tried to open the filter in the bottom of the front panel? but it was blocked by something. After this video i've opened front panel and removed pump with the filter. Inside it i've found 4 needles. Now everything works properly. (Sorry for my English, i'm Russian)
Hi Peter, thanks for your comment here, it's nice to hear that our video has helped you to replace the door seal on your Bosch washing machine. Well done on completing the fix yourself!
Perfect.Easy job. Found the seal gets ripped when dragging clothes out of the machine after a wash...in a solid ball, rather than the rubber material deteriorating.
Often the case seals get damaged like this Sven. Always worth carefully lifting heavy items over the door seal. For other useful tips watch this video: ruclips.net/video/0AnLPqcQAmA/видео.html&list=PLZopaZU-UQSFFqqyMbnBvXILEUn82lB70&index=3
Ok Ive just changed mine on a Bosch Maxx 5 (1200) I couldnt get the front off as the video but I did get the contol panel off. Here is what helped me: When you are trying to put the back spring on , bend the hoop ends on the spring to close the gap otherwise the spring keeps coming apart. If the washer is on the floor, then tip the washer back to 45 degrees to allow better access. Maybe fit a block of wood between the concrete block and frame to give a better gap to get your hands in. Finally, the outer part of the seal keeps getting in the way when fitting the spring. This was eliminated by tucking in the rubber into drum by inserting a scatter cushion into hole, just enough to hold the rubber back. (After trying 3/4 hour to get spring on , this worked first time)
+Ricardo Intelligencia Thanks for the comments Ricardo and your description. We fit a seal through the door in another of our videos (not Bosch) but the process is similar to how you described. If you find a repair is not exactly the same as your machine search again for the repair (door seal replacement) on our homepage and other videos may show different methods.
El mejor vídeo que he visto sobre este tema de la marca Bosch. Gracias.
The best video I've seen on this Bosch brand. Thank you.

Hi mitchellboomphi, glad we helped. if your old seal had black staining to prevent it reoccurring on your new one check out another one of our videos:

Good clear short video. Need to find tutorial for changing seal on an LG washing machine now
+Joe Walshe :-)
Brilliant stuff! So helpful! Very clear instruction. It's like getting a new washing machine. Well done, eSpares!
Hi Patrick, glad we helped and by the sound of it all went well. :-)
Absolutely fantastic help. Thanks a million. Mind you, one of the 'stainless steel' screws on my old Bosch machine was rusty!!
Thanks for the comments Jill, the screws around the soap drawer opening can rust if not cleaned due to the detergent. May be worth watching this other video especially if there was a build up of mould on your old seal:

I checked it out last night and looks easy to do, thx for the reply
tom carver :-)
thank you my friend.I replaced mine just today with help from your video
Ελπίζουμε ότι όλα πήγαν καλά.
(Hope it all went well).
Thanks for that. Made it so much easier after watching that. The spring bit was the hardest. Oh and drilling out the rusted screw! 😄
Hi Rodeoback56, glad we could help and well done for sorting it out.
Great video. Wouldn't have had a clue where to start without it. Job done even though it took me quite a lot longer.
Great video, I was never gonna do it without your help, thanx a million!!!
Excellent friend. Even I could replace the seal after your instructions.
Thats the idea Gerry, when people see how easy it can be they may try and repair instead of replacing appliances that may have many useful years life left.
Good luck if you are attempting and give us a 'shout' if we can help further.
You're very welcome, glad we could help.
Thankyou for this incredibly helpful video, I'll never ask a man again.
Great video and great company. Not many times do I say this! Thanks.
My machine was a little different, but this video helped a lot! Thanks!
Hi Joris, thank you for the post and glad the video helped a little bit.
You're very welcome from the UK!!
Thank you for a great video. Didn't take long at all following your steps. Leak free washing machine now!
Hi Lisa, well done for fixing it and glad the video helped, remember to like the video and subscribe for even more useful videos.
Thank you for you fantastic video from Spain!. Fantastic explanation.
Thanks a lot for the great video. It was a great help changing my Bosch door seal!
Dude you saved me over $100. Thank You!
Hi Gordon, well done for your perseverance and not giving up. We're glad to hear you solved the issue.
eSpares you rock, thank you for teaching me how to fix the seal on my washing machine! :-D
This is my first attempt at fixing an appliance and so far two trips to Bunnings to get the right screw head. Now I find out I need an even smaller one for the inner screws. Wish me luck
Good luck, let us know how it went.
Great informative vid. Due to months of washing heavily soiled workshop clothes, the seal has accumulated black mouldy looking resin. Have you got any suggestions for cleaning the seal instead of replacing it? Thanks
Thank you! Great instructional video. It saved me today... Greetings from Portugal
Thanks e spares - getting the retaining rings on was trixy and it took two of us with a bit of brute force but better than having to wait in for someone to come and fix it
Hi Rikki, yes those retaining rings have to be tight to try and keep the seals in place.
Glad you sorted your problem and to keep it in good order controling bacteria and mould see our video: ruclips.net/video/ifWK9df1qgg/видео.html
great video!
helped me disassemble my siemens washing machine to check the water pump
(and put it back in one piece)
You're very welcome, Liz - well done!
Hi Nginmu, thank you for your post and nice job and you are right we are always open to people giving there say.
Incredibly helpful, fantastic advice
+Tafara Moyo Thanks, Hope all goes well.
Thanks matey - my dad conquered it today haha
+Charlene Apaapa Glad all went well. :-)
hey just finished replacing mine. Thanks you made it dead easy!
Extremely useful video! Would have been a disaster without this. Thank you very much!
Brilliant! Thank you from Australia for a very useful video.
Thanks for posting this video! I've tried to open the filter in the bottom of the front panel? but it was blocked by something. After this video i've opened front panel and removed pump with the filter. Inside it i've found 4 needles.
Now everything works properly. (Sorry for my English, i'm Russian)
Brilliant video, made it look easy, and it was. Just had to get my wife to help putting on the inside spring! Thanks
Hi Co Winter, yes that spring can be like fighting with an octopus. Glad all went well. :-)
Thanks a lot. Worked great for my Bosch Logixx 8. Had problems putting back the ring with spring on the outside. Had to loosen the spring a bit.
Hi Peter, thanks for your comment here, it's nice to hear that our video has helped you to replace the door seal on your Bosch washing machine. Well done on completing the fix yourself!
Lovely job!
Glad we could help.
Thanks! This helped so much! Sick of water spilling everywhere! Not anymore!
+Matthew Robson Hope all went well Matthew.
Perfect.Easy job. Found the seal gets ripped when dragging clothes out of the machine after a wash...in a solid ball, rather than the rubber material deteriorating.
Often the case seals get damaged like this Sven. Always worth carefully lifting heavy items over the door seal. For other useful tips watch this video:

Thanks for posting. Made the job easy Cheers from Australia
Thanks for your comments Simon. Glad all went well.
Cheers mate saved me 30 minutes of working it out for myself.
Hi Inane Observations, no problem anytime we can help and we have loads of videos to save you working it out☺
Very good explained, I saved 100 EUR. Thank you. The Video is usable as well for Model Maxx6
Ok Ive just changed mine on a Bosch Maxx 5 (1200)
I couldnt get the front off as the video but I did get the contol panel off.
Here is what helped me:
When you are trying to put the back spring on , bend the hoop ends on the spring to close the gap otherwise the spring keeps coming apart.
