I love how they include possibly the most intelligent member in all Hololive with possibly the 2 most pon members. Like they knew how funny the contrast between Botan and Mel/Robocco would be. Though even Botan had some struggles here.

The fact that native Japanese speakers struggle so much with kanji shows just how difficult and complicated they are. This isn’t even getting into the fact that multiple kanji can share the same pronunciation and that a single kanji can have multiple pronunciations. Seriously, English is hard to learn for many non-native speakers due to the fact that letters and letter combinations can often have multiple pronunciations (“ough” being particularly infamous), but at least we only have 26 letters (which, when factoring in case, gives 52 characters for the alphabet, and all of them are pretty easy to write), 24-ish consonant sounds (3 or 4 of which are semivowels), and a number of vowel sounds (somewhere around 9-14 or 11-25-ish, depending on accent, dialect, and how you choose to count them). Although Japanese has fewer consonant and vowel sounds, it has thousands of kanji, and most kanji are very complex characters to write.
Yeah in terms of learning to speak/read the worst thing about Kanji is that if you dont recognize one you cant even attempt to incorrectly pronounce it. And even if you have more advanced Kanji knowledge such that you ARE able to guess, as this video shows, if you put in situation like this where you are forced to guess, missing/interpreting even a single stroke wrong will COMPLETELY screw up the pronunciation. I cant help but notice how often times the correct answer to the ones they got wrong dont even begin with the same letter when spelled phonetically.
Matsuri talked about having a kanji quiz to see who's the smartest and the most scatter brain. She mentioned btih Mel and Botan. God really saw this coming

If you know Mandarin, there's a chance it can help you recognize characters and that may help you in improving kanji..

I passed N1 in JLPT, yet I can't read most of the kanjis in the quiz.
There is still a lot to learn.
This test is from kanji kentei lvl 1-2 it's different from JLPT
these kanjis were taken from 漢検準1級 which is one level down from the highest difficulty which is 漢検1級
