Been on this medication for over a month. My blood pressure has been through the roof. I gain a pound daily. Went from 209 lbs to 225 lbs within a month. I pray my breathing become stable enough to stay off of this drug. Overall this drug did save my life!!! 🙏

I woke up one day (Dec 01, 2021) and couldn't move. My Sed rate was 129. They prescribed heavy doses of prednisone while they performed numerous blood tests to determine the cause. Jan. 13th, I had severe pain in my lower stomach/groin area. A CT revealed a large abscess in my colon. I have end-stage pulm fibrosis and end stage copd, and although surgery was recommended, it was determined I wouldn't do well, or maybe not wake up. It was too deep for the radiologist to try and go in without surgery. The doctors gave me strong antibiotics and "hoped they worked". I was told that I had diverticula (which I never knew) and the prednisone was the cause of the abscess. I made it through and was ok after 10 days. I was finally diagnosed with RA and polymyalgia rheumatica. I now take methotrexate. The RA also helped my pulm. doctors to pinpoint a possible cause for my fibrosis, which had been idiopathic. The prednisone worked wonders and until the abscess, I was able to move without the pain. Thank you for the wonderful videos and your expertise.
Hey Jay! Thanks for the comment! On May 1st I went to urgent care because I had some soreness and pain in my biceps, shoulders, and chest that seemed to come from nowhere. I thought I might be having a heart attack. Turns out I'm really healthy except my Sed Rate is 66. Since then the pain has traveled to my right hip joint and I'm limping. The UC Dr. diagnosed me as having polymyalgia rheumatica and prescribed Prednisone. But I'm afraid to take it. It sounds like it solves one problem but causes 10 more. I've got an appointment with a rheumatologist in a few weeks but it sounds like all they do is prescribe Prednisone.
@@jimsullivanyoutube Hi Jim. Even though I'm on Methotrexate (10mg once a week), I'm back taking 5mg prednisone twice a day. Methotrexate just doesn't work now. It was great for about a year, then just stopped helping. My doctor reluctantly prescribed enough prednisone to last me until I see a Rheumatologist (for first time ever!! They're so hard to get in and see. Booked out a year or not accepting new patients). I can't wait to see her. I know people who've taken prednisone for 10+ years with no problems. I've been back on it for 4-5 weeks and so far so good. I flinch every time I feel ANYTHING in the gut area!! It helps with inflammation better than anything I've ever taken. Also helps with my breathing issues. O2 stays around 98-99 all of the time . Vision is a little blurry sometimes (another prednisone side effect). Good luck with your PR.
Hi, my mother due to issues with sleep went from 2mg to 1mg Prednisone for a long time and then stopped completely recently but has been experiencing a complete loss of appetite. She also suffers from hypothyroidism and I noticed that her TSH levels have dropped around 30% as currently 1.78 but her usual levels are usually in the 1.20s yet has remained on the same dose of 75mg levothyroxine. I just wish to know if this is common?

check with your doctor and discuss other alternatives. do not stop taking it unless advised. normally your doctor won’t prescribe corticosteroids unless you absolutely need it.
@@deannsmith8903 was given 20mg dexamethasone sodium phosphate over a period of 5 days, the side effects were horrible, swelling, anxiety , panic attacks, unable to sleep, .
A month ago im diagnosed with kidney and heart failure. Dr put me on 60mg 3 days later im going crazy. I couldn't sleep and was energetic. After a few days later i crashed than my legs and hand was getting bigger. I was retaining lots of water. Now im on 10mg and the swelling is going down. I feel soooo many aches and low energy. Maybe it could be from other medicine and my chemotherapy.
Hello Doc , im from the Philippines , male 66 yrs. I take 1 mg DEXAMETHASONE for my gout on my fingers amd it woukd disappear within the day and would continue it for 6days . The gout would appear again in 6 months again

Prednisone makes me sick. What can i USE pls help

I am having difficulty with it and it’s only my fourth day. I cannot sleep at night & my anxiety is through the roof in which I already have an issue.
I used pregabaline/lyrica , but was to strong sideeffects for me, always felt drunk....
