      @@ctsteve1967 Really? I took the Ground Course to obtain my pilot's license for nothing while in CAP. I couldn't afford the air time and then Vietnam entered my life, if you know what I mean. Granted that was a long time ago. So you're telling me they've stopped that? I remember getting to fly a Cessna 172 about 1/2 way from Westchester County Airport, NY to New Hampshire landing at Grenier Air Force Base (now closed). I had a great time in CAP.

Why,,,, because it's ten times harder and more dangerous to fly that close to the ground, Dam , he flew under trees. Thank you for this video , It shows what this machine can do.

    • @Accumulator1
      @Accumulator1 6 лет назад +5

      It would seem that the helicopter has more maneuverability being that low to a grassy surface because the downward airflow compresses as it has something below to push against. I was wondering if at a higher altitude the pilot would have the same control, response and lift.

    • @robinborkowski5598
      @robinborkowski5598 6 лет назад +18

      @@Accumulator1 what your describing is known as ground effect. I am not a helicopter pilot, but I am a fixed wing pilot, I am quite familiar with this aircraft , I want one. I think I've seen almost all the videos made about it, this aircraft has amazing performance. The climb rate on the turbine model is around 3000 feet per minute, less in the piston model. The power that it has would allow it to have the same performance at 4000 feet as the performance you witnessed in this video. with helicopters performance dose decline with altitude but unless you live in the Rockies , you would never notice it.

  • @deeubs09

    PS. The end of 2020 will be my year to finally attain one. I have followed this and the Helicycle since their inceptions! This engine was originally designed for a single seat US Army contract that didn’t go through, so they put it in a power cart to recoup the R&D. I’m greatful for the T62 and the people who have made this possible! This machine will burn almost any type of well filtered 3rd world country fuel from what I understand. A Powerplant that can do that makes all these light helicopters more useful to more people worldwide. Turbines are sexy and the haters cant take that away from us, ha! Please put the turbine conversion into the new Swift! I cant wait to see that one! Wish someone would do a 3 seat helicopter kit. Great show Mike!
