It would seem that the helicopter has more maneuverability being that low to a grassy surface because the downward airflow compresses as it has something below to push against. I was wondering if at a higher altitude the pilot would have the same control, response and lift.
@@Accumulator1 what your describing is known as ground effect. I am not a helicopter pilot, but I am a fixed wing pilot, I am quite familiar with this aircraft , I want one. I think I've seen almost all the videos made about it, this aircraft has amazing performance. The climb rate on the turbine model is around 3000 feet per minute, less in the piston model. The power that it has would allow it to have the same performance at 4000 feet as the performance you witnessed in this video. with helicopters performance dose decline with altitude but unless you live in the Rockies , you would never notice it.
The aircraft was in such a good control by the Pilot. I am amazed by the helicopter capabilities. Seems like a RC model, I dreamed of having a miniature aircraft this exactly looks like it. Good piece of engineering. Thanks 😁
PS. The end of 2020 will be my year to finally attain one. I have followed this and the Helicycle since their inceptions! This engine was originally designed for a single seat US Army contract that didn’t go through, so they put it in a power cart to recoup the R&D. I’m greatful for the T62 and the people who have made this possible! This machine will burn almost any type of well filtered 3rd world country fuel from what I understand. A Powerplant that can do that makes all these light helicopters more useful to more people worldwide. Turbines are sexy and the haters cant take that away from us, ha! Please put the turbine conversion into the new Swift! I cant wait to see that one! Wish someone would do a 3 seat helicopter kit. Great show Mike!

I think you should show this to the Aussies, they have thousands of small helicopters in the outback, by memory mostly Robinsons, this would suit them down to the ground!
How does the torque control on these things? Im surprised no training is required for these since blade stalls, torque, and ground affect are all things you need at least some experience with.

I honestly don't know. Keep in mind that insurance on any civil aviation aircraft is an option. You're not legally obligated to have one, although it makes all the sense in the world to always insure your aircraft.

Worked for 4 god damn years and I didn't earn even 1/3 of what is needed to build it and that is the price of when i finish the prototype and make it a functional model. Don't get me started on prototyping and how much money THAT exhausts.
Does it rotate clockwise? Never saw it banking right. Is the pilot "lefty"? Should be harder to fly at low heights because of ground effect. Great skills.

Composite FX only builds the Ultralight, the other models are kits.
why cant they modernize the flight controls? Is there some laws prohibiting making this fly by wire and full computer control?

From what i get, the stick on the left controls the elevation. Up for higher, down for lower. No buttons.
