Awesome video! Takes me back to the days when I was 13 years old when I would help my grandpa on the farm. I can still hear the sound of it when I was out in the field cutting hay.
A great find BTP. It is noteworthy to mention that there are more black stripe 66 series tractors running around that what left the factory in 1976. A lot of guys who have repainted/restored these beasts put the black stripe decal kit on them. They are damn good series of tractors any way you turn it. We've had a black stripe 966, a 1066, and a 1566 in the family throughout the years.
+ih1206 you are right. I was tempted to mention how to tell the different years of 66 series apart and how to tell if it's a real black stripe. Maybe I will in a future video.
bigtractorpower that's a great idea. To be honest with you, as much as I know about IH tractors, I probably don't know all the differences. Great video though. Love the old red iron. I just help my cousins haul home a 5288 with FWA. She's a beast, the biggest we own in our family.
My uncle had 1066 and 1466 white stripe tractors. He also had a Ford 5000 tractor. We had a JD 40 which was traded for a Ford 3000 and we later bought a JD 2840 a MF 1155.
As a kid, I saw lots of IH tractors of this type (couldn't begin to say what exact models) working in the fields around home, when these tractors were still new.
I love the classic look of the black stripes and would love to have a true 66 series black stripe, but I am sucker for Turbo decals on the white stripe models. 66 series look great regardless, the best looking tractors ever made in my opinion
Used a 1066 as our main tractor for years. Pulled on and off the duals for planting and other stuff. Now we mainly use it as a hobby tractor (or something that just does augers)
I ran an early 70' 1466 in the early 90'. Used mainly on a disk and liquid manure spreader. The spreader was 3K gallon (roughly 14 ton loaded). It had been turned up to roughly 200hp (down from 220+). It handled the weight fine ( high 3 through the quarry ). Speed on the road was great ( for the time ). My only complaint was the transmission. I loved IH for power and handling but the transmission was always the problem. ( The 86 series ground the gears (after picking rocks ) and the 66 Series would lock between gears/range ). My only other thought was the weight on the nose. One farm I worked at had a 1086 (IH) and a 4020 (JD). The 4020 rescued the 1086 several times ( but never the other way around ). Ironically the fuel tank of the 20 series is at the nose and the 86 series is at the back.
They are real screamers. I once worked for a farmer who had one pushing 225 HP. We pulled a 28ft IH 490 harrow and a 6 row KMC ripper bedder with it. It was turning around 2800 rpm on the dyno. He ran it that way for years. He later bought a 1566 but it wasn't the tractor that 1466 was.
I'm an old school IH guy from growing up on a farm where my grandpa started out an Allis-Chalmers man, but by the time I was around was running all IH. I know this is "Big" tractor power, but if you ever get a chance to showcase a 504, 706, or 806, I'd love to see it, as I spent thousands of hours on those models. I know they're not big tractor power, but they're a history. :D
Thank you for sharing. I grew up around IH tractors. I will film every tractor I can find working. A 706, 806 etc... would be great to film. I shared a video on an 856 about two months ago.
Buenas tarde amigos no se de dónde se han tengo u tractor internacional igual al del vídeo es un poco más chico 786 me faltan algunas piezas me las podían conseguir namás que ustedes ablan en inglés yo a lo español soy de Tabasco mexico
Like John Deere found out when they went from the 4320 and 4620 to the 4430 and 4630 the jerk of the power shift puts a jolt to the rear ends they were not prepared for. Same thing for Case and Allis Chalmers. The old story a chain will pull a lot if you don't jerk it!
What a classic. These were true workhorses and bring back fond memories. Thank you BTP
Brought by memories for. I used to run one when I was 15 years old, and I thougrouly enjoyed it. The tractor was brand new and ran like a dream.
The 66 series were well built tractors built to last a life time. Big power when they were new.
Thanks for posting. I really enjoy seeing old beast like that working in the fields. Stay safe.
That looks like an international model 20 offset disk. Tough as nails, like the tractor!
Awesome video! Takes me back to the days when I was 13 years old when I would help my grandpa on the farm. I can still hear the sound of it when I was out in the field cutting hay.
I always enjoy seeing these classics getting put to work!
P
please keep up these kind of videos really enjoy seeing the old iron at work also enjoy the small history lesson as well
Great job on your videos as always! It's nice to see a old school IH tractor STILL on the job earning it's keep!
Grew up in a Farmall farm. Love seeing antique red power doing the job. Great video!
I am an IH fan too. Thank you for watching.
It has some power, love that sound
Beautiful machine. Would love to see a 554 at work!

That's the prettiest music......

Very cool. The 76’ 1066 is one of my all time favorites.
@@bigtractorpower We still got it, and it's running strong. I don't think we can kill it if we freakin' tried

This is my favorite IH tractor
😁👍👍
The Case 1370 was introduced in 1972 at 140hp.And was boosted to the same hp as the 7050
That's a beast ! and a good driver !..........
Really enjoyed this video BTP

Great history.

es una arrastra muy pesada con un tractor fuerte es una buena profundidad un buen trabajo
Wow great videos I love watching your channel
Thank you for watching.
that was a super tractor!
I put a number of years in on ours. My dad had the pump turned up just "a bit" and we all fought to the one to run this tractor.
Very cool.
Great work!
Thank you for watching. I have a 76 1066 video on the way.
bigtractorpower Great! I just made this if my uncle's 1206 ruclips.net/video/qlfQMCnjWFY/видео.html
I would like to see more videos of old tractors and equipment at work. Thanks.
We are always on the look out for classics.
bigtractorpower when is the planting vid of corn from garnett farms coming out

Very nice tractor indeed
great video, what brand of tires does that 1466 have?
As we say in German: Power to the Bauer 😄
I grew up driving this tractor (we had 2 1466 tractors) with dual tires pulling plows and field cultivators
Very cool.
Was that disc doing anything ?
What kind of offset disk is that?
Awsome tractor! I'm a big fan of the old tractors. Is this tractor in Ky?
+Farmer 1/64th yes near Henderson, KY
It ain't that's a bad boy right there
Great video, where is that at?
Henderson, Kentucky
Nice
My family always argued which was better , International or John Deere .
They are both great tractor builders. I own one of each brand.
Damn
Buenas tarde amigos no se de dónde se han tengo u tractor internacional igual al del vídeo es un poco más chico 786 me faltan algunas piezas me las podían conseguir namás que ustedes ablan en inglés yo a lo español soy de Tabasco mexico
don't see many of the white stripe edition. at least i dont i see a bunch of the black
That's not enough harrow
I've got this same 1466 international in farming simulator 22 and it's a great tractor I hope to own one in real life someday
The 76 1466 is a stand out tractor. 👍👍
Good engines but terrible rear ends
Like John Deere found out when they went from the 4320 and 4620 to the 4430 and 4630 the jerk of the power shift puts a jolt to the rear ends they were not prepared for. Same thing for Case and Allis Chalmers. The old story a chain will pull a lot if you don't jerk it!
He turns tractor to wrong side with this discs..If he turns other side then there is no need to lift the discs
No matter the disc always lift it at the ends unless replacing bearings is your thing
Timless
Need to replace them worn out disc😂😂😂
This disk was just being used to break up new ground. Not a big job. Just a few acres.
I’d say it did pretty good in new ground
