I lost my MOM Jan.19,2015 we buried her Jan.26,2015 i just happen to listen to this song a week before we lost her, and when we lost my mom this was the first song i thought of sang by yall. Absolutely beautiful i don't care if the guitar is tuned down half a step. I hope when i go into my next transition in life and received in heaven and i see my mom i hope she knows my name and holds my hand and helps me stay. Its not really easy to ease the pain specially everything you feel is all about him. But even though it hurts, I have to live and learned that my life still working without him. I lost my husband in an accident almost a month ago, so this song hits my heart pretty hard right now. He introduced me to Boyce Avenue over 2 years ago, and I have been a fan ever since. We played 2 of their songs at our wedding (one for the walk down the aisle, the other was our first dance). And this cover is great. Keep up the great work, guys.

I lost my dad a year ago today to cancer and my sister Feb 2nd 2010 also to cancer. The other night I was singing along to this song and when I closed my eyes as I sang it I could see my dad and my sister holding hands coming to the bottom of this beautiful stair case made of marble and gold railings. It was like they came down from the stairs of heaven to let me know they are okay and happy. This song has come to have soo much meaning to me after that happened.

God, any version of this song always gets to me, but the sheer melancholy and world-weariness in his voice is breathtaking. I had to actually stop what I was doing and just listen.
My 72 year old grandpa was diagnosed with rectal cancer last June now the cancer has already metastasized to the other organs everyday his health is deteriorating with our last resort having him intubated. My dad lost his battle to Cancer and played the original version of this song when I was a little boy growing up in the 90's for me as he drove me around in his beloved Pontiac Fiero. He was my step-dad, but he loved me like I was his real son at times. The toughest love I ever received was from him growing up. I grew out of my own resent and learned to forgive; using what I had been through to positively impact the Broken around me in kids and adults through martial arts now. Yesterday marks his 55th birthday, Happy Birthday Dad. Your 5 beautiful daughters (my sisters) are flourishing into such strong independent women. When I started driving, mom would take me to the cenetery where my dad was to practice. (He died suddenly, 9 days before i turned 3). The first few times we did this, this song started as soon as we got near dads grave. We took it as him letting us know he was with us. Good cover, but no one can sing it better than Clapton. Not because he has a beautiful voice or is superior on guitar, but because the song itself will never mean as much to anyone else but him. For those who don't know Eric Clapton dedicated this song to Conner his 4 year old son who died when he fell from the 47th floor of an apartment building. This cover doesn't do the original justice because the pain and suffering Clapton went through until he was finally able to write the song can't be matched by another person covering it for views on RUclips.

I bet people won't be saying this if they didn't know about Clapton's story. IMO, they both sang it perfectly. You don't need to have the exact same situation to happen to you for you to be able to feel sadness. As if Eric Clapton is the only one in the world who experienced a similar degree of sadness.

My Mother in law passed away during this pandemic, we lived away from them before she died we are planning for my inlaws to attend our son's baptismal this March 2021 she was very excited because after almost 3 years of battling to PCOs i was able to bear a child..she didn't even had a chance to hold our son...life is very tragic....rest in peace my dear Mother in Law..
I'm so very sorry for your loss❤. I know exactly how you feel. I lost my father due to this pandemic as well back in November. I'm graduating high school this year and I was hoping my dad would be able to see me walk the stage. I hope they're all resting easy.

my hearts with you. i came here to this song, because of my father. He passed, it will be one year in may already. not a day goes by i dont think about him. He had cancer for 3 long years, and it was such a tough fight. I still cant think about him without crying. Time can help, but cant heal what your missing. Just know, you arent alone in your sadness.

Oh man this song hits home.. A few days ago on October 7th I lost a very good friend of mine. He was hit by a car at 9:18pm while crossing a bouldevard and suffered a traumatic head injury that resulted in death. Words cannot express how much I miss and love him, I never got to tell him that I loved him but I'm sure he knew because my actions showed it. He was only in my life for 2 months but meeting him was the best chance encounter I've ever experienced. We met on the train one morning when I was heading to work and I noticed he kept looking at me, we exchanged smiles but something told me to get his number before he got off at his stop and so I did. His face turned so red when I asked him to put his number in my phone ha. As soon as i got to work i was texting him non stop and we just grew close to each other. We talked on the phone for hours every night until one of us fell asleep on the other. Last time we spoke on 9/20/15 I wasn't very kind to him because I wasn't having the best day and I took it out on him... I feel so terrible for doing that to him because now I can't apologize to him or hug him and tell him I didn't mean it. I'm trying to keep my sanity and be strong for him and his family but it's so hard and i've been a wreck for days. I've never lost someone close to me until now and it's the worst feeling in the world. He was a real life angel and I just feel so lucky to have known him and share memories with him. His viewing is today and I hope I can keep it together because I'm breaking down.. Please if you love someone tell them while you have the chance to and do not hold grudges it isn't worth it.
