  • I thought I will add to clarify the reason why the bailiffs were knocking on my door,
The electric company arranged a fixed payment plan of fixed monthly payments with me, I then realized that I was paying far too much money than I was using electricity, so the new arrangement of paying the bill as it comes and the monthly payments arrangement overlapped, I was one week in arrears, they then charged me £40 fine, I refused to pay this as a matter of principle, I will not allow any fucker to extort money from me for a none returned value or service, I can easily afford the £40 or the fucking bills for that matter, but I work hard for my money, so now you know.

That is how you deal with bailiffs, first they need to establish the identity of the person they are dealing with because of data protection.
If you don’t give them your name then then they can’t continue with their job. They can’t even tell you why they are there until they get permission from the person that they need to speak too. If you give them your name then you have entered into a verbal contract with them.

Demand to see the official warrant of execution only, with wet ink signatures from the judge, for reverse liability. The warrant must be court sealed or court stamped, if the bailiff cant produce the official warrants, dont accept their digital warrants on their handheld computers they are copies, with photocopy signatures they are fraudulent warrants, refuse them. Bailiffs cant force entry for civil matters, police by law cannot assist a bailiff for civil matters, always film them. Keep all doors and windows locked. Never give your name, ignore the idiots on here say pay your Bill's, people fall on hard times, it also exposes the corruption of the bailiffs and how they try and use fake fraudulent warrants to fool people.

The woman asked for him to confirm his address, not because she's unsure of the address, but because she wanted to get "Joinder" with him which means he is giving his consent to her being there to carry out anything she wants.

Usual thing in the comments, a couple of people saying pay your bills without even considering that the balliffs are chasing a vulnerable person who had been conned into signing something for someone else, or a former owner or tenant, or a former co-tenant who has ducked out on their part of the bills, or someone has out and out used the residents details for fraud, or a billing company (eg car parks trying to get over £150 for parking an inch out of the parking bay lines) and their shady "debt management" companies.

If you'd ever had any dealing with the plods you'd know that if you refuse to give your details you can be arrested and brought to a police station until they find out who you are. You might even get an obstruction charge thrown on for good measure. So if you do have dealings with them and have done no wrong then play the game

Like OP said in the description, it's a matter of principle. The issue is, I don't really have time to try and stand my ground and stand by my principle cause I'm too busy working and doing things that actually matter. Time is a lot more valuable than money and these companies have infinite money, which means they will keep spending tax payers money to keep sending these bailiffs around to every person's door that doesn't pay them what they're 'owed'.
I understand why people like the OP do this kind of stuff, but I'd rather pay the small fine and just get on with things that I care about. I think some people like OP do it because they enjoy it, they treat it like a hobby. More power to them, I say. Not my cup of tea, though. And it could turn out to be a very expensive hobby if you don't pay the small fine you started with (they might end up evicting you because you didn't pay a 10er a couple of years ago!).

Once you tell them to leave, or that you don't want them there, or that they are now trespassing they are then trespassing, civil offence, and they should immediately withdrawn by the shortest or most sensible route (eg if you were in a farmer's field and they tell you to get out you'd not take the shortest route if it meant damaging crops or scaring cattle). While that is a civil offence, if they continue to remain there, or damage anything while there, or cause a breach of the peace or harassment, then it's criminal trespass. However if you rang the police and said that there's a debt collector who was committing trespass, good luck getting any plod out to the property within a week!

You haven’t got rid of them, you’ve actually made your case worse. They’re debt collectors, not Bailiffs, by not paying the debt collectors you’re practically giving the company permission to take your writ to the high court and cause the Bailiffs to come around which then bumps up your debt due to court fees. Then when the bailiffs get there you simply cant shoo them away due to their high court powers. Debt collectors may be trespassing, but I can tell you. The bailiffs, by law, won’t be.
