      I agree with Shane! Keep up the good work! you'll have tons of followers in no time! Also if you could post the ungraded footage so we can Color Grade it along with you that would be amazing! Also at 4:15 could you go over how to select multiple points in the color warper at the same time? please and thank you

    Shooting with the fx3 do you lose quality or slog3 capability if you shoot with a slog 3 conversion lut baked into the footage?

    • @donovankean
      @donovankean Год назад

      Great question! I typically wouldn't recommend baking in a LUT. You may not loose overall quality, but you'll limit your options in post.

    Great post! question: why 709 2.6?

    • @donovankean
      @donovankean Год назад

      No particular reason really. I just chose what looked best on my monitor at the time. I've signed change how in grade this way too! I may upload more videos in the future about it.

    It would be useful to see how did you set up the color page in the project settings.

    nice tutorial but for theNikon Z9 it wil be totally different i think in the setup page.

    • @donovankean
      @donovankean 4 месяца назад +1

      Yes you'll want to make sure you have the right input color profile for sure! I'm not sure what that would be for Nikon.

    Hey, great video!
    How about when you have full wedding edit with 100 shots. Setup color space transform for each of the clip is a bit overkill. Would you prefer to use Resolve color management and automaticly setup the slog3 convert to all clips? I'm new to Resolve and I'm starting with new wedding project, and I'm bit confused with those automatic color management setup. Not sure how to start properly :D

      ok I think I just find a answer for me on your channel. The video The DaVinci Resolve Color Grading Feature That NO ONE Is Talking About... is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you very much! :)

    Is the tracking feature only in the studio version? I have the free version of davinci. How would you go about doing the same background grade without using that feature?

    • @donovankean
      @donovankean 2 года назад

      Great question! This specific feature is just available in the studio version. However in the free version, you can create a power window and trace around your subject creating a mask manually. The result isn't as easy or precise, but it'll get the job done. Similar rules apply with tracking forward and backward. Let me know if that helps!

    Hey man remenber if u manage exposure left side of the color space transform u will not get linear exposure u will get display exposure thats all ☺️

    • @donovankean
      @donovankean Год назад

      I haven't! I don't work with a lot of LUTs. I personally prefer using CST then just create a look according to the project.

      @@donovankean oh alright thanks for responding! I appreciate it! I’ll try this workflow since im new to davinci resolve 🤜🏽

    • @donovankean
      @donovankean Год назад

      @@filmwithlenon Of course! Yeah from what I can tell the best way to do it is use multiple color space transform nodes. The first to get into the resolve color space, then from there to whatever you're exporting to (like REC709)

    I did the same but for blackmagic with bm imput insteald of slog and it looks terrbile, extremly washed

    • @donovankean
      @donovankean Год назад

      I'm sorry to hear that! Yeah, this step by step guide will only work well with 10bit Sony slog3 footage. 8vwbnwver actually worked with BMR before, although I know lots of people swear by it.

    This is precious tutorial.. many thanks 🙏😇
    Just one question to gain more knowledge.. do you prefer to put CST on the first node rather than last node? I saw other doing oposite, or it is doesnt matter.. :)

    • @donovankean
      @donovankean 2 года назад

      Not sure what's best TBH, but I see nodes as layers from left to right. So anything that you feel should go onto a separate layer should probably go on a new node. That's just me though!

    • @maxone007
      @maxone007 2 года назад +1

      There is a huge difference between putting CST at the beginning or the end. Try the same node tree with the CST at the end and you will get a completely different result. You want to have as much information as possible before converting to rec709.
