You know, you make an excellent point about the comparison of Vegeta and Metal Sonic. They are truly identical in more ways than I originally believed.
It’s true Metal Sonic literally pushes himself to the brink of destruction just for that small small chance of defeating Sonic. Not kill him, not cheat, but to truly destroy what Sonic’s all about. The reason why he has this drive is because, if he can beat Sonic, he’ll no longer have to face about how wrong he is about being the REAL Sonic and how powerless he really can be. Like if you really think about it, the ultimate sad truth about Metal Sonic is he is forever in a race he can never win. In other words, he was born to lose and that’s a very harsh truth to deal with when you believe you’re made in the image, a better image, of someone else and don’t take the time to look at your own flaws, hence ego is the result.
This is sad truth because Metal Sonic can win, he just has to follow his own way, but he’s too blinded and prideful by his ego to do that and just can’t let go

    • @AcBlu1
      @AcBlu1 27 дней назад +1

I like this idea. It's also good because eggman made him to beat sonic but he let his OWN ego into metal Sonic's creation. The reason eggman doesn't make stuff unwinnable is because he wants to feel like he truly triumphed over sonic with his intellect. He made sonic, but with the ego of eggman, and that's what stops metal sonic from winning I think

I just really felt connected with here, and wanted to share a bit.
Growing up I didn't think I had an ego, but as you put it in your video, "I'm worthless" is an ego statement itself. I went through my first 20 years or so letting myself get pushed around, and anytime I would lose at something I would get really depressed and tell myself that it only made sense and that I just wasn't as good as anybody else. There were always reasons I tried to find for why I was made somehow defective or was damaged growing up to be that way.
Then things really switched. I was getting pushed around at my job, started getting angry with it, and finally decided that enough was enough. It was time I stood my ground. It was liberating. For the first time in a very long time the sun shone brighter on me than it ever had; I felt like my potential was limitless and had finally cast down that stormcloud of self-doubt.
The cost, I was soon to discover, was that I actually did have an ego. It was once telling me I wasn't enough, but now it had a new idea: that I was deserving of everything anybody else had. The worst part was that I didn't think I had an ego, so I thought the times where I lashed out over doing poorly in a jiu jitsu or chess match were just harmless instances of me being hard on myself. Dramatic and annoying, maybe, but harmless.
Then I, out of envy I had yet to understand, turned my venom on one of my closest friends. I couldn't stand the success he was gaining, and it destroyed our friendship. I repented, but the damage was done. Never before had I felt so ashamed, and I haven't felt so since.
After that, I really started to explore the effects of the ego. I put a name to it, and took a stand to reject both sides of that awful coin. I haven't been perfect, I've had some awful instances of it rearing its ugly head once more, but I've been able to see the person I believe God made me to be.
I guess what I'm saying through all of this is that until I recognized what was going on, and accepted that although part of me those things didn't need to rule me, I was the hopeless victim of a nameless evil. When I turned my attention toward the negative energy of my ego and fought back, ironically suddenly everything I had fought so hard for in the name of ego was beginning to blossom for me. I stopped fighting so hard to become what I thought I deserved to be, and instead I've grown in ways more incredible than I had hoped.
Sorry for the long post, but thank you for the video. I can truly say that nothing is more important than keeping your ego in balance.

this conversation about ego in sonic games got me thinking about frontiers for the first time since i originally played it. specifically sage and what makes her different from metal, maybe more like shadow. (quick clarification i have NOT played the free dlc yet, i lost my save when i switched systems and i’ll replay the game…eventually. this may have changed in the dlc idk) she’s a VERY ego driven character at first, almost everything she does is to impress eggman and to feed her ego in the process. it isn’t until the final act of the game where she gradually abandons her ego in favor of genuine connection and she makes one final act completely in favor of what she believes in. she sees sonic fight through rhea island (commonly criticized part of the game but i personally loved it! it’s ouranos island that dragged on way too much imo) and she’s inspired by him. she did what she did because for once she cared about other people, her father just as much as everyone else.
i’ll update this once i play that dlc, assuming the writing stays as good as it is in the base game i’ll probably have a lot more to say about that comparison aha

There's a Rush song called The Enemy Within that is part of their overarching fear trilogy that stretches over 3 separate albums that were released in reverse order (pretty cool stuff). Every song of the trilogy focuses on how fears can impact decision making in different ways and between different relationships. I bring up "The Enemy Within" because it's topic is internal fears and how they can hold you back and keep you from being the best version of yourself, which makes the ego the true final boss like you said. Doc ock had to overcome his ego of being the one to discover and invent this new energy system. Luke Skywalker had to overcome his internal feelings of hate to beat the emperor, and Walter White... never overcame his own ego, but it's the thought that counts lol

Honestly, in my youtube career I still think my nemesis isn't really my own ego, since I'm finally letting go of that obsession over sub and view counts, but instead, it's just that I'm being too ambitious for my own good.
I've had a poll on my channel a few months ago (sorta), asking exactly that, then I waited and the most picked answer was along the lines of "yes, you're being too ambitious for your own good". And to be blunt, they are right. If I can allow myself a tiny metaphor, I feel like I'm the GameFreak of myself: I have the ideas, but lack the time to apply them fully and make a good execution. Which, if you snoop around the channel, you can definitely notice in a bunch of my videos. I had to delay the release of a series' prologue video, mainly because I was at a good progress and thought I could finish it by the end of a month, which obviously, in the end I didn't do. But to this day, I'd say it's one of my videos with the "best" animation, granted, with a few flaws

If you looked at my comments on these videos, you probably noticed I explain a lot, and it's because of one detail about my channel that's pretty much what constantly stops me from letting my work speak for itself: I run a Gacha animation channel.
I never mentioned it not to cause "harm" for myself, but mainly to do a favor for someone with an outside perspective and to Neat himself. Seeing hate replies on a comment like mine because of that one detail is not what I want to see on a motivational channel like this. And it's definitely not what others would want to see either.

Definitely needed this video, i always say a warrior's most important battle is with themselves. this is/was my relationship with doom eternal, i bought it a year ago and loved it so much that i actually got into doom and the metal genre. 10 months ago my mother passed away, it put me in the worst mindset that i could possibly be in considering im already a pretty negative person. once i felt like i could pick up a controller i got obsessed with eternal all over again, but for all the wrong reasons. Instead of it being something i did for fun, like all games, it became something i did out of anger & hate, to drain out the voices, to drain out my own. It changed me psychologically, changed the way i played, the way i thought, it made me feel like i was avenging my mother somehow & that's what i used to justify being addicted to it and feeling that way.
I became the best, developed that ego, and that ego manifested into the final boss & into the motto that i live by. Unfortunately, i only reached the final phase of the dark lord, i didn't finish job because it's time for me to truly fight myself, not on a controller & not infront of a screen. I only have 1 demon left to kill, and to anyone who's still fighting their's, Rip 'n Tear, until it is done.

This is so refreshing. We went through a similar arc, in that we used to derive something useful from JP, JRE types. And tbh, I'll be forever grateful to them for that, as I think it did yield some positive results, despite the "toxic positivity" you speak of. And I agree, we probably both accrued many negative characteristics while looking up to these types. But perhaps it was necessary to arrive where we are now, with more clarity. You sound like JRE type motivation, if it was nice. Pleasant. Warm. Comfy. It feels like there is much less of a problematic ego that positions itself higher than others. Anyways, your videos align with where my own journey is at so I've subbed a eagerly await more. Also, I too have become disgusted by the word "content", and yet I still use it. It weirds me out when I see people using it, and you can tell they aren't at all disturbed by it. That person then seems more like an AI just churning out stuff because beep bloop beep bloop. I’m just starting my RUclips journey and I have a couple of videos and I unfortunately know I’m the type that if a video doesn’t do well I’m gonna take that as a reflection of my person even though that’s not the case so I’m trying hard to just enjoy the experience of making these videos and hopefully teaching someone something in the process

What makes me stuck in place is when other stuff plays part in the whole thing, like the environment, family, work, etc.
All these makes how I look at myself different every single time and my mood is defferent. Sometimes I could be happy for no reason, suddenly I'm just crying.
I don't really know where lies the line that seperates the inner factors from the outside ones, I don't know who exactly is me anymore.

@@NeatOnTheRocks you are right, they are all me but none of them are the true me, which is the one I need to find.
It is a long and hard journey that no one can help me with and no one can guide me with, its a thing even I don't know if I'm capable of doing or if it will take me anywhere I need, everything gives me more questions than answers.

@@maxios-7613 what helped me understand who i am is understanding that I am the person I choose to be.
Others may have hurt me but I choose to normally shows forgiveness rather than aggression.
I try to judge rightiously in every situation the best i can. Sometimes things don't work out how i imagined but knowing that tried to do what is right, even when i fall short won't burden my conscience.
This is a matter of spirit, not body or soul. Look at your life and the experiences you had, look at the things that caught your interest, ask yourself what it all means and when you start to see meaning in it, keep search and you will eventually find your answer.
I pray this helps. (And yes, being a human is complicated😅)
