    Canada as long been America's lapdog following orders by America protecting an EV industry that doesn't even exist in Canada against a "threat" of Chinese EVs that doesn't even exist Canada. If the rationale of the banning of Chinese EVs applies uniformly, then the Canadians shouldn't bail out farmers with taxpayer subsidies and farmer shouldn't rely on foreign export of the oversupply of canola and just sell all the canola just to Canadians.

      If Canadian farmers only grown and sold to Canadians, then more than half the canola farmers would go bust.

      Canada population of 38 million people, slightly more than Chongqing city population of 32 million people.
      Canada population can't absorb industial scale canola production.

    I like how the guy can say "rule based trade" while keeping a straight face just after Canada imposes 100% tariffs.

  • @rebym
    @rebym Месяц назад +37

    Yes, this might severely damage our agriculture industry, but look on the bright side, at least we'll be able to buy poorly built Canadian/American EVs at premium prices and the government will actually force you to do so by 2035.

    I am not even Canadian, if Canadians are smart, should play both side. Why put 100% steak on one side? Seems pretty dumb to me.... Your politicians are crooks.

      Just the fact that China could do this, itself is proof that Canada was over producing Canola.

    When you can't compete with them, you kidnap the founder's daughter. When you can't kidnap the founder's daughter, you impose a 100% tariff on their products. And on top of that, you accuse them of not playing by the rules?

    The entire Canada population 38 millions people is comparable to population of a city in China, Chongqing 32 millions people, and Trudeau think Canada market is holy grail for China EV market.

    I assume Canada government will bail out the canola farmers. China likely has an alternative supplier. I don’t see angry Canola farmers, they must be supportive on Trudeau strategy. Don’t talk about rule based trade, it is about tit for tat strategy.

    Some asks where China will get canola from. Simple answer. Chinese people can definitely stop using canola. More so it could even be viewed as being patriotic. I live in SEA. I am 70+. I never used canola. I am as healthy as anyone could be, consuming canola or not. Coconut oil, poison oil, olive oil, even peanut oil are as healthy, and may be much cheaper.

    4:13 Canada supports rule based trade for 100 % tariff on Chinese ev when Canada doesn't have an ev industry, when I have yet to see a Chinese ev brand on the street in Canada

    Don't worry the canola oils are very best oils out there we used canola as deep fry oils and its very easy to cleaning, because its not stick to the deep fryer its also good for the bio-diesel too

    Canada ought to stop following orders from (or falling in line with ) other countries, and do what is best for all Canadians. Let China come in and build EV factories here and create Canadian jobs. Sure our labour costs will jack up EV prices, but its still a win-win. Scrap tariffs.

      If export is lower than domestic market, it's called dumping.

    Canada is part of US hegemony, like UK; But UK is part of the US congressional military complex, Canada is not. So when US starts a conflict somewhere, Canada rarely gain anything But would follow behind through spreading of US propaganda. USD is collapsing soon, If Canada by That time is still tied to US would mean That US will feed on Canada and by sharing its' inflation and recession. Turkey and Bolgaria are joining BRICS, Greece and Hungary also interested, EU will like dissolve after BRICS payment system roll out.
