WENY-TV 36 Sign-On 1991

The ABC affiliate in Elmira, New York begins it's broadcast schedule for the day. The WENY-TV 36 green picture seen here was seen during sign-off hours instead of the test pattern playing soft rock music from Easy 93. Notice the scrambled picture recorded from the antenna.

This is so random! I grew up in Elmira, NY in the 1970's and actually remember seeing and hearing this. I haven't heard that announcer's voice in 50 years, but I recognized it immediately. He did all the voice-overs for WENY.

@TheJstewart2010 his name is Steve Christy. Not only he did voiceover at WENY Ch 36, he was the weatherman on the 6:00 news from 1969-2008 until he retired and was a morning DJ at WENY radio. His birth name was Steve Grabijas. He died from cancer on July 29, 2010 just 5 days after his 75th birthday.
