Same case for me as well. Game is oozing with personality from its theme, The maps, the ost to its characters. So i'm really not shttin on any of the ones showed so far but for now no character made me feel like "I want them". I guess it is what it is, Will still try it tho.

The game is positively overflowing with it's own unique vibe, and all of the character designs are unique and fun, and almost all of them I would rate as at least being cool/likeable -- but also none of the characters have truly gripped me as someone I really want to get and main, either. Some do look more interesting than others for sure, but there haven't been any Arlecchinos (or whoever you like most in other gacha games) that make me want to invest a ton into making them super powerful so that I can play them a lot.

Imma be honest the whole "optimal f2p investment" thing is so cringe to me especially when applied to new games like TRY TO ENJOY THE GAME FIRST before minmaxxing your investment. Just play/pull for whoever you like. That way you won't burn out in 3weeks like certain someone.
Optimal investment is how many people will end up enjoying the game long term. Look at how many people in the HSR community complain about not being able to clear endgame content, partly a result of constantly trying to pull the newest characters instead of investing in specific teams.
We are in the golden age of gacha games, HSR, ZZZ, WuWa. It's kind of odd that Genshin kickstarted the modern big budget gacha age yet has failed to keep up with its predecessors, and barely any big content creators play Genshin.

From a start of game POV, Ellen is 100% better for f2p over Zhu Yuan. On the other hand, once we get more Ether and Police Force characters Zhu Yuan will get better, so she could age better.

Ellen is pretty good and her dmg is veryyyy good but she peaked literally at the start of the game, no more Victoria housekeepers coming (most likely) and ice characters will come but the only person who can be replaced in Ellen premium team is soukaku(not "only" but you get the point) ZhuYuan is the only character of her faction on release and she is one of the only 2 either characters, she will only get better from now while future ice dps can potentially replace Ellen, miyabi is said to be an ice character and attack (idk if true or not) so she can just replace Ellen. + Everyone (except grace ) got buffs in preload so she and Nicole got even better I myself am an f2p(who got Grace today) and going to save for M0W1 ZhuYuan, hopefully I get M6 Nicole too since ZhuYuan M0W1 + M6 Nicole= free 60% crit rate. And that shit is busted

Plus, she’s will be very valuable as an Ether DPS cuz we don’t have those yet. Then planning to pull for Miyabi and I think Lycaon should be good for her
Actually if you’re running Ellen with lycaeon you don’t want another ice unit like soukaku because of the disorder mechanic where if you combine two anomalies to make a disorder which does a lot more damage. So the premium Ellen team would not be with soukaku, but Ellen, rina, and lycaeon because lycaeon and Ellen are ice and rina is a separate element which causes disorder.
Ellen seems much more interesting to me now. I also don't really like Nicole's playstyle. And I eventually get Grace anyway, sinse she's so similar with Zhu yan.

It's just how the conversation regarding these games has become. If you don't get the perfect zero tier units then your account is bricked. They really should just start balancing these games more closely so there aren't units like Yanqing that are considered useless.

I'm sometimes, is so spoiled with character being OP from the start that it's like an addiction. All characters should have the feels and satisfaction of the progression option without dumping insane amount of cash. Personally, i really have to disagree with this video between the future characters we know are coming, the buffs Zhu Yuan just got prior to 1.0 (that we're not in CBT3) I think Zhu Yuan is the better future proof character. If your plan is to only play in 1.0 and never touch the game again then sure Ellen is great, but I think for F2P players they need to look at filling holes in their account and picking characters that have the longest term usage. With an A-star ice attacker on the horizon, and Zhu-Yuans entire team and more ether characters coming, I think she is the better option That being said, people should probably just pull on who they like more as both of them can clear everything quite well with the teams that are in 1.0

If I didn’t enjoy his content and funny comments I wouldn’t be watching his channel all the time I actually am so sick of gatcha games nobody can just make a game that gives you all the content add the catch element to costumes or pets or something unimportant but not skills features and things that make your character fundamentally different

Best this, best that... When will our mentality toward gaming change?... I used to enjoy games differently. Now it's all about sweating... Constantly searching for the best of the best and forgetting the gaming aspect at it core. I don't know anymore, maybe I'm very delusional now aday. 😕. Get burned out, move on, and the cycle repeat.
It's just how the conversation regarding these games has become. If you don't get the perfect zero tier units then your account is bricked. They really should just start balancing these games more closely so there aren't units like Yanqing that are considered useless.
@xorphz My thought is exactly on Yangqing, too. In my opinion, balance with the many options to grow unit gradually is fun. I'm sometimes, is so spoiled with character being OP from the start that it's like an addiction. All characters should have the feels and satisfaction of the progression option without dumping insane amount of cash. Then again, it's a gacha game, and my understanding toward it is that it's a gacha, so I can't expect much... 😑... negative 200iq for saying this...
Personally, i really have to disagree with this video between the future characters we know are coming, the buffs Zhu Yuan just got prior to 1.0 (that we're not in CBT3) I think Zhu Yuan is the better future proof character. If your plan is to only play in 1.0 and never touch the game again then sure Ellen is great, but I think for F2P players they need to look at filling holes in their account and picking characters that have the longest term usage.
With an A-star ice attacker on the horizon, and Zhu-Yuans entire team and more ether characters coming, I think she is the better option
That being said, people should probably just pull on who they like more as both of them can clear everything quite well with the teams that are in 1.0
