Excellent since I just started painting with watercolors and I wondered if I could add my wax over it! Super! Love it

You can use cold wax over your watercolors Dorland's Wax Medium or Gambling cold wax medium. You can get it at artist supplies store and I think Amazon. Makes a good finish for your paintings and you don't have to use heat

@@suemitchell3064 Yes, Thanks Sue cold wax does give a great look too ! They both will produce a slightly different finish. The one difference and advantage to using encaustic I would say is the ability to buff it to a really high shine which is what I do with mine. If you desire a soft luster or matte finish then both work Weil.

Shari - this is just beautiful ! Thank you so much for sharing your process . I just adore ALL your encaustic paintings - and this one - incorporating watercolour - is just so soft and dreamy . Kind regards - Judi - Australia

Hi Judi! Thank you so much , incorporating other mediums into encaustic is always a fun process especially with watercolor. Hope you have a lot of fun with it !

I like to use bfk rives for the same technique, I know it’s a print making paper but it works for me.

do you seal the watercolor painting before adding encaustic

Hi Gwen encaustic requires an absorbent surface so it is applied directly to the watercolor and absorbed into the paper.
