    Also, to enter Taiwan you will need a PCR test that is done within 72hours (I think it's been updated to 48 hours), and not two calendar days? For example if my flight is on Wed at 4pm, I can't go get my PCR test on Monday 10 AM?

    I have a question about the LINE app. I already use LINE to communicate with family members, and my LINE account is tied to my US mobile number. If I buy a SIM card at the Taiwan airport, will my existing LINE account just detect the new Taiwan number? The reason I ask is because I have heard that LINE doesn't actually let you switch phone numbers like that. Specifically, I have read that they don't let you switch regions (e.g. from US to Taiwan). Does that mean I have to delete the app, redownload it, and boot it up with the Taiwan SIM card inside the phone and then start a whole new account? But then I would lose all my contact capabilities with my family since I no longer have access to my old LINE account? Or is there a way to easily toggle between 2 accounts?

    • @Justin_Leah
      @Justin_Leah 2 года назад

      The line app is a difficult app to manage and it is definitely a challenge to switch between one sim card and another you must follow the instructions explicitly and be sure to do a backup of all of your chats, I think it recommends using Google drive as your backup. I would encourage you to make sure your line app has the sign in option of using your email address and login works for the desktop app. We have lost a lot of conversations and important information swapping between SIM cards and using the line app. We are not big fans of it but it is a very popular tool here. There is a help article on the line app web page I suggest following it to the letter to make sure that you are easily able to Port your account over to a new number. Good luck! Be sure to screenshot any necessary info you have in there in case the backup doesn't work. ~Justin

      @@Justin_Leah Thank you for your response. If my LINE app is set to US number and my SIM is a TW number, does LINE still work or will it complain and stop working? If it still works, then is there even really a reason to do the technical procedures to set my LINE app to the TW number? Also, I know the TW government sends SMS daily texts asking about symptoms. But apparently they also ask you to add them on LINE, too? How do you add them to your LINE? And I know the SMS texts are mandatory to respond to, but is LINE communication with them also mandatory?

    • @Justin_Leah
      @Justin_Leah 2 года назад

      First let us recommend that you always respond to any communication that they send you whether it is by SMS or through the line app. I can assure you that putting in a new SIM card into your phone will indeed have a negative impact on your usability of the line app. Unfortunately I recommend going through the convoluted steps to secure your account history and to make sure you can Port your number over. One other option is to use an old phone and open up a new account all together if you're fortunate enough to have an old phone. But eventually when you get a full time TW SIM card you will need to eventually take those steps to Port it to the Taiwanese number.

    1) Does that 72 hour count also your connecting flight? Like if I fly from Denver on a Wednesday to San Francisco and then to Taipei. But land in Taipei on that Friday or something? Or is it from the first flight (Denver)?
    2) Can you write your passport number on your PCT test?
    3) Will I be able to go to the currency exchange or ATM before going to my hotel?

    Thank you so much.

    • @Justin_Leah
      @Justin_Leah 2 года назад +1

      Hi Miranda! There's no such thing as a dumb question so please ask away. If we can help, we will. :-) (1) You may want to have a look at our updated video as the requirements to enter Taiwan are now 48 hours. Your originating city is how your 48 hour window will be calculated. So if you connect into a city (or country) in a different time zone, you should be okay. (2) I would suggest leaving your PCR paperwork in its original format. The suggestion of having your number on your results was only to make the check-in and verification process easier. (3) You will not be able to visit the currency exchange in the Taiwan airport after your arrival but you have a few options 1. Arriving early at your departure airport to see if maybe they can exchange for you before arriving to TW or going to a local currency exchange in your city. My bank (in the states) does my currency exchange at a great rate. (4) I think this varies. My hotel had a space to communicate any special requests but I don't know if all hotels have this option when booking. If you know where you're staying, you may be able to look up contact information and send a direct request to the front desk. Information is always changing and being updated so make sure you check the links in our newest video that has communication directly from the Taiwanese government. I hope this helps - Leah
