I really want one of these...but why does the customer need to test their own pcb before assembly? Is this not done beforehand? I've never used VIA before and I'm kinda new to this level of keyboard.
Yes they are tested before hand to my knowledge, but it’s still good practice to test the PCB because mistakes and shipping damage can happen. It can be very disappointing to you find out a few keys aren’t working after you just finished your brand new build, knowing you have to take everything apart and ask for a replacement.
My Sonnet arrives this week!! I can't wait, thank you for this excellent build guide!

When will the copper bottom be back in stock?

Always check a pcb in case things happen why build when it could be having issues and have to disassemble again
Where's the link for the page to test the PCB???
need to sell my QK boards to get this full black sonnet
Yes, but when will you release a southpaw full size? That is the ultime keyboard for both work and gaming.
If Mode made literally any layout with a numpad it'd be an instant buy for me. Even a separate number/macro pad would be great.
Mode would make a steno and 40% ortho with arrows before any numpad including keyboard
