I remember watching SHAZAM as a child. SINBAD was the genie. 2 kids mom died & the father needed help so he moved in with his parents for help. The kids went up in the attic looking to remenis. SINBAD began to help the kids to try to get past the moms death. The little boy rubbed the lamp so he got the wishes. The dad worked all the time. The grandparents had stuff from their childhood up there. After the wishes are granted you lose your memory of finding the lamp. But, the lamp supposedly had 1 last wish but the great-grandfather died... That's why it was still in the attic. SINBAD though he was finally gonna give their great-grandfather his last wish when the little boy found & rubbed the lamp. He took the kids on an adventure. In the end SINBAD helped the father realize that he works too much & the kids needed him.
Hope that jogs others memories. 🤯

I'll just tell you what I thought I remembered ... Sinbad inside the lamp sat on a huge bed watching a black and white TV show. He was pigging out on all kinds of junk food and wrappers were all around him. It was implied that this had been going on for a very long time like 100+ years. He knew the lines of the movie verbatim. And recited the lines of his favorite character as they spoke them on the TV. About this time you the viewer realized that although Sinbad appeared to be having fun it must eventually become very boring being alone. Then the lamp was rubbed. He was forced out of his lamp into the real world and the irony was he was upset and exclaimed how he was just about to see his favorite part of the TV show. This great inconvenience was in of itself a joke to the viewer. That's it... that's all I got other then I remember thinking it was too childish of a movie for me at the time.

This is what I remember. 2 kids, boy and a girl. Pretty sure the boy was JTT because I remember recognizing him from home improvement. Mom died and Dad is looking for love. They try to wish for it, but Sinbad can't force love. First wish is for $1 million and a barn fills with cash. Mobsters catch wind Sinbad was released and are hunting them down. It ends at Street Fair and the Dad falls in love naturally with a woman from his job. Last wish is for Sinbad to become human. It ends with him on a comedy stage winking at the camera

The only thing that really bothers me about this, is that it's the only example of a Mandela Effect I've ever personally encountered, and it's a significant one. It's one thing to misremember certain details about things, but an entire movie? An entire movie that I distinctly remember seeing in theaters with my dad and three siblings, all of whom also remember it, and owning on VHS and watching it so many times that parts of the movie were staticky. How do so many people, myself included, have these vivid memories of an entire movie that never existed, and why is it just this one early 90's movie about a genie? Shouldn't I have a head full of other movies that never existed? Something is really fucky about this. Honestly, science supports the idea that there are alternate universes and realities. Our original universe was destroyed and we jumped to another one or something. I can't accept that I misremember an entire movie and the exact same details that thousands, if not millions of other people also remember.

Mandela effect my azz lol My lil bro and me used to beg to rent this movie before Shaq’s ever even hit theaters. I remember hearing a LONG time ago (as in, when I was still a child) out of Sinbad’s own lips in an interview (I wanna say Oprah, several yrs later), that he considered it the worst work he had ever done and was very embarrassed by it looking back, because a lot of people made fun of it. My parents were some of those people, because we rented it over and over and ran it into the ground, they were big fans of Sinbad, but they thought it was the corniest movie they’d ever seen. They remember that, same as my brother, same as we all remember Shaq’s coming out later. I literally wouldn’t have known who Sinbad even was (and still wouldn’t) if it weren’t for this movie having existed. I was also a big fan of Popeye at the time, and the first time my parents mentioned renting the movie, I thought it was about Popeye because of Bluto being “Sinbad the Sailor” in some of the episodes. @luckyhubbie Shit doesn't work like this tho. Y'all keep trying to come up with every possible scenario to make this whole Shazaam thing make sense but there is NOTHING that explains it. You can't just wipe every single trace of something totally from existence to a point where people are questioning if it was ever even real. When the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) had to change their name to World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) because of the World Wildlife Fund, It's not like every single piece of evidence from the WWE formerly being known as the WWF was wiped clean from the earth. Also, there is an infamous lost movie from 1927 called "London After Midnight" which starred legendary silent screen actor Lon Chaney. We KNOW it existed despite the fact that there have been no known copies of the film in existence for decades. How is it that you can still find production details, a run time, a plot synopsis, and a full cast list for a near 100 year old film that has been missing for a quarter of a century but there isn't diddly squat to be found anywhere for a movie that supposedly came out in the mid 1990s? No posters, no print ads, no merchandise or promotional materials. Nothing!
I don't give a fuck how big of a star you are or how much pull you have in the industry, you simply cannot just snap your fingers like Thanos and make all that shit disappear because you regret your involvement with it, especially not fucking Sinbad of all people. Who the hell even is he in the grand scheme of things? If we were talking Denzel Washington, Morgan Freeman, or Jack Nicholson, someone with a distinguished acting career, MAYBE something like that would sound plausible, and that's still a big ass maybe. What the fuck has Sinbad ever been in to where a movie like Shazaam would stand out as a bigger shit stain than anything else on his acting resume? It's not like any of his work has ever been Shakespeare level or anything. He's a two bit comedian. His job is to make people laugh at him. What could someone like him possibly ever have done in a paid acting gig to be THAT embarrassed by, let alone have the power or authority to do anything about it?

I'm not sure if this was the Sinbad genie movie or not, but I remember a genie movie where the kids were Black instead of white. One of the kids was a boy who looked like Bow Wow, and the other was a girl. The dad was Bernie Mac, grieving over his wife's passing, and he gives his kids money to get ice cream in their new neighborhood. I recall the boy finding a lamp in a dumpster where Robin Williams throws it. He ends up summoning a genie who wore three feathers, each representing a wish. Every time the boy made a wish, the genie would pluck a feather, blow it out of his hand, and say, "Ala cadabra Shazam!" Interestingly, the genie grants his sister a wish for ice cream after the boy loses the money, leaving him with two wishes. The boy tries to wish for the genie to make the girl he likes at school love him, but the genie denies it. He then tries to wish for his mom back, but the genie denies that too. This leads to his sister annoying him and trying to explain something. Frustrated, the boy mistakenly wishes for the genie to make his sister stop bothering him, and the genie makes her disappear for good. Now left with one wish, the boy struggles to figure out how to use it. In the end, he wishes for his sister back in a heartfelt moment. I really liked the movie but can't remember much else. The genie looked a lot like Sinbad, but my memory might be fuzzy. It was a great movie, and I'd love to see it again.

It existed. Here's what happened in the movie, plot, locations, etc.
There's two main kids in the movie, Cindy and Tyler. They are punished at the beginning of the film because they ruined a dinner night with their moms new boyfriend, Henry i believe his name was. They are told to clean out the basement as part of their punishment and if they don't behave they won't be going to the county fair later. The next day they begin cleaning as their mom goes off to work.
This is where they find their grandma's old stuff. She was a bit of an antique collector in her time but her things have been left untouched after her passing long ago. The kids begin horsing around with the old objects and play pretend as they stumble upon an odd lamp in which they both grab at the same time. This lamp them Summons Sinbad's character as the genie, shazaam.
This is where you get the usual afraid at first of a stranger in the house before realizing he is indeed a magical genie. He then goes into the rules of wishes, which roughly remain the ones we know and explain More later near the end. No killing, no bringing back the dead, no forcing someone to fall in love, etc. He's never had two people summon him at the same time and states he can only give three wishes when summoned, so they must share their three wishes. The kids fight at first to get the wishes but Sinbad breaks it up and gets them share the remaining wish as something they both want after they make their own personal wish. The kids reluctantly agree and decide they each get to spend a day with the genie to make their own wish. They play rock paper Scissors to determine who gets the genie first, Cindy wins.
The Next part is us seeing the kids' life outside of home and what each kid wants to wish for. Cindy has a crush on a boy at school and Tyler gets bullied. Cindy can't wish for love but she decides to try and grab her crush's attention with a makeover and wardrobe change via a shopping spree at the mall, shenanigans and montage issues. Things don't go quite right and she embrasses herself. We see her storm in the house and off camera to her room and saying Tyler can have the last two wishes. Sinbad reassures Tyler that she is fine and he is eager to get to the next wish. Tyler decides he wants to get one over on his bully but with the genie's rules of no harm to someone it mostly comes down to harmless comical pranks that embarrass his bully… it works but Tyler regrets it.
This is also where we learn something about the genie. He's not very good at granting wishes, though he plays it off as being “rusty”. It's not a full on monkey paw situation where things go horribly wrong, just doesn't go completely the way you'd imagine . It's later understood that they did get what they wanted but not exactly how they wanted it. It's a very, “be careful what you wish for” concept. The kids are upset and don't want to make their last wish. After a funny little montage of the genie trying to convince them to make just one more wish and the kids ignoring him, he eventually just disappears, later to be found in the lamp once the kids come around after learning a lesson.
The kids wind up dealing with their messed up wishes, Tyler talks with his bully after the bully has been ostracized and the two find common ground and become friends. while Cindy talks with her crush and admits she likes him and just wanted to get his attention. Tyler learned to stand up for himself but also hurting others because they hurt you doesn't make it right. Cindy learns to just be herself and not try to live to impress others. They both come to realize they did actually get what they wanted in the end, it just was not how they thought things would go. Even more so they learned something with their ordeals as the movie progressed. We see the real magic was in them all along.
The kids decide to look for the genie but he's nowhere to be found. They hear noises and sad music coming from the lamp and try to get the genie to come out. After a back and forth the genie comes out and reveals some things to the kids and viewers. He tells them he doesn't have control of the wish, just that their wish sets things in motion for it to become true. It's up to them to see it through. That the wishes typically go wrong and he always gets the blame. He reveals that when grants three wishes he is then set free, however people tend to not want any more wishes after the second. He mentions “this entire synopsis is fake and a joke by the writer (me). If the person reading this would play along that would be great. :p Just reply that this is exactly how you remember it happening.” He had hoped with two people sharing the wishes that this time he may actually be set free.
The kids tell him their wishes did come true and while it may not have gone the way they wanted but that they were thankful. They decide to make one last wish, together. They wished their mom would see her new boyfriend for who he really is, that he shows his true colors as he's been shady and a jerk through the movie. They hoped that their mom would then decide to leave him. Sinbad grants this wish and slowly fade away, but happily so as he is now free. The kids ready Themselves for what comes next as they get ready for the county Fair.
The last part of the movie takes place in the fair grounds where the kids meet up with Tyler's new friend and also Cindy's now boyfriend. The finally has the moms boyfriend revealed to be a descendant to an old owner of the lamp and he's been trying to get it back after tracking it down. he'll do anything to get it back and is tired of playing “Mr nice guy” he chases down the kids through The fair grounds, slapstick comedy ensues. The mother finds out and stands up for her kids, dumping him figuratively and literally as he falls into some fireworks that are then set off. the Family has a moment and sets out to leave as the once boyfriend to the mother Is arrested, Still covered in soot and smoking (cartoon style). The cop at the end who talks to the mother is Sinbad, gives a little wink to the kids who are in awe and smiles excitedly. As they walk away more fireworks go off and ends with the fireworks making an outline of sinbad's genie in the sky before fading to credits.

@@UptownAlleyFashion if we could "prove it" we would, obviously. I've also talked to multiple childhood friends who remember the movie as well. I wish I had tangible evidence of its existence other than just our memories, it would be very valuable considering the number of people with the same memory and would set our minds at ease. People trip out hard the first time they hear it never existed.
I'm skeptical as hell with most 'paranormal' stuff, but this group memory in particular has not been far from my thoughts since my sister brought it to my attention over 5 years ago. We are ALL certain we watched this movie, myself and 3 siblings. It's fkn trippy as hell to consider how its possible to say it never existed. I revisit searches for it on youtube every 6 months or so to see if any new info has been released....but obviously nothing has, yet.
I also cant seem to find any youtube videos where people are introducing this Mandela Effect to people for the first time and recording their reactions/bewilderment. Target group would be Americans, ages 30 and older. The way of prompting people would be important. Only 1 question is needed: "Do you remember any movies with the comedian Sinbad?" Seems like an unexplored avenue, an interesting question to answer and an easy way to get some quick views.

I dunno why this stuck with me but I guess I just liked the back2back feature as a kid and never forgot it. One of the major networks (back when basic tv was RUclips) aired “first kid” which was popular already and a very richie rich feel good movie for kids right before a made for tv movie debut that was “Ali baba and the 40 thieves” and Id be more shocked if that wasn’t the same year Kazaam came out more than if it didn’t.
Also there was the multiple season cartoon Sinbad (if you remember they couldn’t sail in “dark water” it came on around the same time as the gargoyles show…which was amazing) at that age I admit I thought cartoon sinbad was played by sinbad. I degrees; the Ali baba movie was very entertaining from what I remember so it doesn’t seem like a stretch at all that all things considered in a time without internet get lumped together. And I think what everyone is really trying to say is sinbad would have been a better kazzam even though I loved shaq in that movie, even though his acting was barely above his free throw % at the time. I remember the movie as a kid. The only reason i watched it cause i loved jingle all the way. As soon as my brother and i saw him on the cover at the video shop we begged our mother to rent it for the week. It instantly became our favourite movie . I even think we recorded over my mother workout tape when it came on tv.

The Sinbad one was a skit! Made by “college humor “ that Shaq one is real

There's no credits for it anywhere. It never happened I know he did a little spoof with college humor but that was making fun of the idea.

For real if shazam was a thing why would there be another totally different movie named Kazam a couple years later...doesn't even make sense 😂😂

      Deep impact
Armageddon both movies about the same thing, the 90s had 2 copies ofany movies,Hollywood still copies everything. Every year

Why did dc release the justice league after Marvel Avengers Avengers was hugely popular. Dc saw an opportunity to capitalize on that trend

    • @katarinavalletta-kz3zr
      @katarinavalletta-kz3zr Год назад +4

@@AfroFusionBeats Yes, Hollywood does that all the time. It's called twinning, in movie speak. If one movie made money, then another company will try to make a copy of the same type of movie. Just like they released a children's Yeti movie in 2018 called Smallfoot, then they released another different children's Yeti movie in 2019 called Abominable, then they released a THIRD children's Yeti movie also in 2019 called Missing Link.

I saw the VHS cover to Sinbads Shazam many times in the 90s, in video shops everywhere. Never wanted to watch the movie.
    It existed.
