So, since you asked, let me tell you the story of the first time I played Battle for Middle Earth. First I have to tell you about my relationship with Lord of the Rings in general. My father had set this rule that I couldn't watch LoTR until I was eleven. At the time I thought this was terribly unfair. All the kids in my class had already seen it, and sometimes ran out 'playing' lord of the rings. (You know the things kids do). So, the day after my eleventh birthday my dad warms up our TV room. (Yeah, we had our own TV room, although it was only used in the summer and on special occasions, as it was too cold to stay there in the winter.) So it's winter, and he warms up the TV room early in the morning, sets everything up and wakes me. My mom had made cinnamon rolls and milkshake. (My favorite snacks) And then me and my dad sit in front of the TV watching all three LoTR films extended edition. BEST DAY EVER! Then the world of Middle Earth opened for me. At an age I could somewhat understand and respect the work that went into it. I read the books, watched the movies again, played several games and reread the hobbit. It was in this period that I first played BfME, or rather BfME2. It was fifth or sixth grade, on a vacation to the US (I live in Europe). I was just learning english well enough to be able to read it by myself without any help. So I saw this game with these amazing pictures on the back, and interesting descriptions. To that day I had only played two RTS to any significant degree. Age of Empires and Age of Mythology. (Two very similar games) So I bought this game, and I was allowed to play it on my dad's laptop. I somehow got around the region restrictions (don't ask me how) and booted this sucker up. I played the the two tutorials and started on the campaign. All of which I really liked. Then I played my first skirmish match. It was on Rhun, the 6 player map with all kinds of stuff everywhere. I set up a battle royale with every faction in the game, everyone set to medium. I was men. Unfortunately for me, or fortunately, depending on how you look at it, I put myself in the middle of two other factions. It was a very intense match, with me doing everything I could to stay in the game. I started eventually spamming heroes, as they progressed even if they died. So, guess which hero was my first to level 10? Yup, Gandalf. Gandalf had saved me again and again throughout the match, and I was already in love. Then he hits level 10 right in the middle of a threeway battle with a ridiculous amount of enemies and just a few battalions of my own. (This was the first time any hero of mine had gotten to level 10) Then I hit World of Power. From then on, I could not put the game down. I played it extensively for the next few years. It was one of the only games I didn't stop playing. And haven't stopped playing until this very day. For some reason I can't get Game Ranger to work, but other than that I have loved every minute of it. I am now 19 years old and just finished high school. God I love this game.
And yea BF ME2 was mind blowing especially after I played the first part for like a decade -- The thing that really got me is the " you can build wherever you want " after being used to the first one
I first played BFME1 and it was awesome, but when I saw BFME2 at a gamestop with that badass cover of Gimli and Glorfindel I needed to buy it, and now it's one of my favourite RTS games. And I loved the fact that each of the already existing factions had more units than before and that there were 3 new factions with so many units (including a dragon, which was probably what I was most anxious about the game) And also I learned a lot about what happened in the north during the Lord of the Rings, which I did not know about (I haven't read the books, except for like half of the Silmarillion) Also, my first map was Minas Morgul cause i was so psyched we could play siege maps in Skirmish, but was kinda disappointed that basic units (like Gondor Soldiers) could damage a gate, instead of actually needing siege.
I remember I always used to play Helm's Deep and Minas Tirith when I first started playing, because I could actually win on these maps haha, and I still think this game holds up extremely well for its age, especially with the Edain Mod. And don't worry about your channel, all us LOTR fans love every single BFME upload :D For me personally you're in my top 3 favorite channels and I easily spend more time watching your videos than anyone else's on Yt. Thanks for providing this awesome content :)
I think your doing a great job at youtube, Ross :D I'm not the type of guy to choose favorites, but i do enjoy your videos more than any other youtuber's :3 Keep up the great work, duud!
Ruud, don't worry about what you upload or when you upload. Your videos have always been funny and entertaining and I will watch whatever you upload. You do what I wish I could do and you are my go-to guy for BFME and LOTR in general. Keep doing what you do coz I will continue to watch you no matter what. From one of your biggest fans. :)
You're doing a great job RuudDevil! Take your time and put out videos you feel are great! Your personality alone makes your videos awesome! Good luck and I am looking forward to more of your content!
when i first played bfme 2 i was really surprised because i was used to the battle system from bfme 1 and when i first played 2 i was really surprised i was like: ERRRMAAGERRD YOU CAN BUILD EVERYWHERE YOU WANT!!!!!!
Thanks for all the videos ! Haven't noticed that your videos have low quality - Did you ever try Minas morgul as mordor ( while playing in the castle) you get new powers and stuff - pretty cool Also the map / I believe it's called erandils fun - is pretty fun ( u dOnt have to activate any enemies it's like a how many waves can u survive kinda thing
Hey Ruud, DON'T be hard on yourself mate, you've done a great job and I'm sure I speak for all of your subs, we are happy as and when you upload because we love your content and the quality in my opinion is amazing! Also just a tip for you, you can actually render videos to upload on different dates, you "schedule" them so you could say record a video tomorrow, then schedule it to go live say next Friday, so you'll technically have an upload schedule. But honestly bud you're absolutely amazing with your videos and I'd love to collab with you at some point, I think you've checked my RUclips channel from when I was in th 4v4 subs matches. All I can say is just keep going and don't be harsh on yourself! Keep up the amazing videos man! :)
well I was a young when I played bfme 2 on Xbox, and I just thought it was so frigin cool, I had no clue what I was doing and I spent about 2 hours as dwarves on the outside of erabor building walls around and into the town, with no enemy cause I forgot
Theres a pretty cool custom map on this edain version where like you run around as Gandalf kinda like an rpg thing not sure if youve played it and I didnt finish it but it seemed pretty fun
How do you download the edain because whenever I go on DB mods or whatever it's called it says 4.0 demo edain mod and then when I start installing it it says that I need the English patch 2.01 but I don't know how to do that and it's really starting to frustrate me because I don't want to fuck on my computer but I want to play the game at the same time
I have a question for you Ruud , I know is not the best time but I need help , I play BFME2 with a friend of mine and he always wins when he plays with Mordor , the most annoying thing is the Witch-King ( + the other 8 Nazgul ) . He always kills my armies and runs away if I manage to harm him just a bit . Could you please give me some advice ? Tips ? Startegys ? Anything that can help me win a match against Mordor . I really like your videos and all your content . And don't be so harsh on yourself , you do amazing videos .
Btw, for future BFME content, I would suggest more streaming or another 4v4 event (which would've been better during the summer, but I just thought about it xD). And for the videos you make, try to make videos about stuff you actually enjoy. Cause I've seen youtubers who upload content just for the sake of uploading videos with new content, and sometimes they just whine about how they don't like the game their playing and how they're just making the video cause they were asked to by the fans, which can be annoying and not fun to watch at all.
