First of all many thanks and many duas for your well being in every sense for teaching so nicely. Secondly, I have a query. You said We would require to re-write the code for Platform dependent language if we want to run in different OS/Platform. My question is "to re-write code", did you mean source code or something else like intermediate code? I am getting confused as by using data types in our code, memory is assigned automatically as per OS.
What I understand high level language(source code) is same irrespective of platform? Please throw some light to cater this doubt.

Python is platform independent because of its PVM not because of same memory space for its data types across the platforms..
Same goes for Java as well. Because of JVM it is platform independent.
