  • Waking up in the African bush is a bigger privilege than anyone who does it often could ever realise. Often we take these moments for granted. I hope the next time you are in the bush you realise how very lucky you are!
After a busy couple of days, this relaxed day in the bush was exactly what the doctor ordered. Lots of biring, chatting to new friends, and a fire going throughout the day. Thank you Bayala Nyala, Keighley, your family and staff for such an amazing time.

Hi Stacy & Rikus, So glad for your latest video. We have been following the two of you on your adventures and love your channel..
We love the way that you show and identify the birds as we are new to bird watching and struggling to identify the various birds.. especially the LBJ's..
Love the interaction between the two of you, you are certainly an inspiration and example to all...

Thank you for taking us along on all of your birding adventures. I watch and follow all of your videos.
If you dont mind me saying, the bird that you identified as a Neddicky might instead be a red-faced Cisticola. You can clearly hear its call during the time of its recording. Have a look and decide for yourselves.
Thanks again for a super fun video. Keep 'em coming.

Another great video. As usual our birding knowledge is expanding. How did you get the giraffes to pose like that😁

And the ‘Neddicky’ at the beginning is actually a Red-faced Cisticola 😊
notice the reddish cheeks and the rufous wash to the chest and flanks.
This bird also has all brown wings, with no rufous wing panel (Neddicky usually have a rufous wing panel)
The bird in the video also has some distinctive markings under the tail, and the tail tips are white. The wing tips also don’t seem to contrast with the mantle.
These are all features of Red-faced Cisticola.

Another great video! Just check the Thick-knees, the line on the wings remind me of a water line, therefore probably Water Thick-knees and not Spotted.

I’m sorry to break it to you, but the bird at 9:43 is actually just an Ashy Flycatcher 😕
Grey Tit-flycatcher have a black tail, with white outer tail feathers - unlike this Ashy Flycatcher, which has an all grey tail.

    Love the video!
What kind of app do you use for the bird sightings?
