What you meant to say is, “as an ICE vehicle enthusiast…”. Just because people like you don’t like EVs, doesn’t mean car enthusiasts only like ICE vehicles. Plenty of enthusiasts who like both ICE and EV. The irony is, that if you outright discount performance EVs because they’re not ICE, you likely aren’t a real car enthusiast (you’re an ICE enthusiast).
Interestung what you don‘t get in the US version: - Back seats blinds - Head up display - Digital rear mirror We (Europe) got all that features. I wonder why - do you know?
I would say most reviewers mention the manual seats because it's an easy nitpick if you are looking for something negative to say with the price and all that. In practice, I would argue most performance cars are single driver cars and you set your seat once and barely ever touch it again. Same things with the 'complicated' menus. They only seem complicated because most reviewers have 15 minutes or an hour to figure out the car and drive it before it's passed on to the next press guy. Anyone who owns the car figures that out within the first week, because the people getting this car are these type of people. It's just the nature of the beast. You have to balance out videos with a bit of criticism but make no mistakes, the hype is real. This car is phenomenal.
Spot on. Once the perfect seat position is found you barely move it, also with this type of car I prefer it manual, you can quickly adjust compared to electric adjustments. The settings are a breeze, since you don't need them all, and most can be saved on your N-mode buttons, so you rarely think about it unless there are special conditions on the track. There is nothing overwhelming about it as a user.
I've watched a lot of Ioniq 5 N review videos, and I think you guys are the only ones who talked about being able to disable the pops/burbles for the Ignition sound. Excellent level of detail!
Hi. Love the IONIQ 5N! The Soultronic Orange color is awesome!! Any paint quality issues? I have seen on some IONIQ5 forums that paint is bad and that it can get easily chipped/damage by road debris.
there was some fine swirl scratches in the clear coat since these media cars don't go through touchless washes and get waxed often enough - but i didnt notice any deeper chips or anything getting through to the paint
power seats are also pretty slow for a sports car and quick adjustments. After some distance you know your seat position just by the sound it makes. and you only have to know 2 - relaxed and track mode
Totally agree with you. The fact is Hyundai EV technology is way more advanced than Tesla. Besides South Korea has the world’s best EV battery companies such as LG Energy Solution, Samsung SDI and SK On.
What a great video, well done 👏 . The first thing I live about Hyundai ionic 5n is how they kept the hardware, indicator, cluster, gear shift (though I wish they put it down unlike normal cars and shift on gear lever ) the infotainment, ac control. Makes it easy switch from any other car. Big round steering wheel, then the sound. Unlike tesla they don't care about user struggles , the main issue with ev is the adaptation. It's not what we are use to. The more familiar you make it the easier for people to switch. The Hyundai has better look , tesla look too boring and no design change and it clearly look ev but Hyundai made this car look like gasoline car and the fact the bonnet looks like it has engine makes it even more choice. Tesla is top in terms of software , battery management and instant acceleration but Hyundai put a lot to beat them hands down in top speed acceleration, from 100km and above that it beat m3p hands down in roll race. But my main downside of Hyundai ionic 5n is pricing, especially been new in this market. I expected it to be cheaper but to my surprise in Australia tesla m3p start at 80k and Hyundai ionic 5n is at 110k , 😮😢 it's a lot look pass , in daily drive and practicality m3p beat it in every way. Cos instant acceleration, longer range, faster charging, and 30k cheaper . Only die hard car enthusiasts will close eyes and buy Hyundai. Great car they made but pricing is the only issue.
I've had this car for a few weeks and can't say enough good things. It's so fast, easy to drive around town or in a track-mode (haven't had it on track yet), and while I ma still learning the menus and settings, that's nothing to be put off by. It's like any technology that's new to the user; just need some time with it and it will be second nature. I put some 15 mm spacers on it to widen out the stance and fill the wheel wells while I wait for more aftermarker wheel options to come available. I sold my 2021 RS6 and this is a worthy replacement with comparable performance and very little compromise on features but at half the cost. And for my purposes, mostly city driving, the fuel economy is a welcome improvement.
I very much *hope* this is the inflection point in the EV market. I want every EV manufacturer to play cool loud-as-I-want sounds. My worry is that the marketing execs will somehow continue to think this an undesirable thing, and to equate the EV experience with mostly silence. I really truly do not care how insanely fast an EV is. Without sound, it's a soulless zombie. And yes, I want sound and shift feel packs for *every* type of ICE car.
You mean every type of EV? They already got them in your mind ;) Dunno, for most people, cars are transportion devices so they don't need this... We'll see where this ends and what consumers actually buy...
There are other evs that do have an "engine" sound, mach e and charger ev, even the audi etron ones to an extent. But Ill be the first to say just having some simulated engine drone is annoying as hell for normal daily drives. Its the simulated shifting that makes it all work together.
@@sungbaek3526 This works here because you don't notice the sounds as that fake when you are driving in a spirited fashion. They work when you are in the moment. The second you hit cruise speed on the highway and you are just going point A to B and the sound becomes too monotone, you can turn it all off with a single button. See something exciting coming up? Boop! You're back on. I love this car.
For the european viewers, you do get shaders in the back here, and (pretty cool) sunroof is optional, also some extra LED options inside and a tow hook? optional. I myself like all the options and tweaks available, but sure I can imagine some like it more simple. Love the idea of this car and ordered one.
The 2025 EV6-GT is getting upgraded with the exact same motors and overboost along with E-shift. I have a 2024 now. And got a sick deal, definitely changed my mind on performance evs. This thing is faster that my C8 and my amg-gt.
@dwnshft that truly is the one thing I really missed about the ice experience. The ability to import different engine sounds and E-shift would definitely permanents put me in a performance ev.
Hi guys! I’m in the middle of this car and a BMW i4 m50! My biggest concern is quality issues which it’s important for me! Which would be the best car for the money? If the ionic well put together overall?
I was going to get one of these... but Tesla (U.S. ver not the one that was delivered to Europe... unfortunately) came out with the 2024 M3P that blows this away for the price. I'm just buying for performance... period. I could care less about anything else. 2024 M3P @ 90% charge and warmed up battery = 10.7s. The improved handling and braking was a major plus too! As for price... you figure it out.
Like the video says, one sounds better on paper, but numbers aren't everything, especially when you can't repeat those numbers lap after lap. Model 3's are great for the occasional stoplight romp, but they aren't built for sustained track driving. Overheated brakes and batteries a few corners into a run is pretty much a no-go for a $50k "Performance" model.
The new (US) M3P is pretty decent on road and some red light activities, but you will have to spend money to get it track-ready. So if the aim is to have a tack-ready car, then 5N is cheaper and better.
I'd like to see 5N drivers put their favorite "recipes" online so that noobs can dial in their settings for certain outcomes. I'd also like to see Hyundai offer more than two custom drive modes. Three is the magic number, y'all. Tho maybe the default mode is the third (?) For the exterior sound: consider that those noises will be helpful in rural areas. Animals (deer!) need to hear cars and a silent EV is unlikely to register on their radar. Then, urban areas with strong cycling/walking populations need to hear an EV coming.
This car really begs the question, "what the hell is BMW thinking with the M5?"! The M5 still gets terrible fuel economy after the 25 miles of electric range is used up, and you're then looking at a much lower power to weight ratio with just the V8 powering it. At 4800lbs, the Ioniq 5 N is a full 600lbs lighter than the M5, and is an incredible 50k cheaper. It's nearly a half second faster to 60 mph. The only area the M5 beats the Hyundai as far as I can tell right now is range. BMW should have either stuck with the V8 and added mild hybrid, or they should have gone full EV. This in between approach, similar to the C63 just adds weight, complexity and actually reduces performance and handling. And the crazy part is you barely get any of the energy savings and reduced emissions of an EV, because once the battery is done you're now driving a much heavier car with a big V8. The worst of all worlds.
16:20 I dont understand the point of inserting static B-roll of the car every 10 sec while you two are talking. It's just braking the flow and is quite irritating to be honest. I would love to hear the editor's insight on this. The single cam conversation between you two would have been much more entertaining.
