  • Hello and welcome, or welcome back, to Orsa Knits. This March vlog is a little late because I've been celebrating my birthday and have felt very unproductive of late. In this episode, I'll show you some of my new design ideas and chat with you about why I'm thinking about going back to monogamous knitting. I'll also feature the gorgeous Chambray - a design by Emelie Luis.

I enjoyed this video even if you frogged many things, it helped you understand if you like the garment or not and this is also important because sometimes we finish pieces just because and then never wear it as opposed to frog it and rethink the entire thing!

I'm so glad you enjoyed it. I can sometimes feel so bad about frogging things, but it seems worse to waste the yarn. I'm currently contemplating another frogging frenzy with a top that I just haven't worn enough to justify the yarn.

Your not alone. Many of the channels I watch have made changes as they find it too difficult to manage with so many wips and living with the worlds challenges At the moment . If being a monogamous knitter is what makes you happy and aides your drive then do it. You have to find the balance that suits you. Have a lovely Easter holiday. Look forward to your next video. Thanks from Australia 🐨🦘

How interesting to hear that. The world certainly feels chaotic at the moment. I know I find a lot of peace in knitting if I take things a little bit slower, so want to try to capture that back. Thanks for your lovely comment! Happy Easter.

Hi Rosa. I agree....monogomous knitting works for me too. It is stressful to have too many projects. I love the sweater you found...Chambray. So feminine and yet simply classic. I immediately put it in my favorites. Happy Easter. 🌱🌺🐦🌿🐤🐝

Hi! Yes, it can be very stressful to have so many things on the go at once. And it seems silly to stress myself with knitting when it's something I find so relaxing most of the time. I also find I forget what I'm doing when I'm working so many different projects at once. Glad you like the Chambray sweater - I really love her designs because they are all so chic and pretty. Have a wonderful easter!

Hello I really enjoy the images of Italy in your vlogs 😊 All your designs are looking so beautiful I also like to work on one project at a time it gives me more pleasure at finishing one item than have 5 started.

I feel like although I sometimes have multiple works going, I never actually work on them all at once. If I am finding a project has lost its fun I will put it away for a while and do something else, but I don't flick back and forward repeatedly between multiple projects at the same time. On a separate note, I just noticed you are using the Lykke birch interchangeable needle set (I think). I have been eyeing that set off for a while, how do you find it?

I was doing that the same with flicking between projects, but have recently found myself overwhelmed and forgetting what I was doing when I put things down for too long. But I do like to have something mindless to knit alongside a more complicated project because some days I just want to switch of my brain and knit stockinette!
I really enjoy knitting with my Lykke set - all of the extra pieces make it perfect for any project. The feel of the case and needles is very high quality. I also find the connection between needle and cable very smooth and secure. I have had mine for quite some time now and think that they are getting quite a bit rougher to the touch. I might have to try treating them with some wood butter to get them smoother again. Overall, I'm really pleased with them. They aren't as slick as metal ones, but that's personal preference.
      Thanks for watching!

I come a bit late into this thread, but if you still see messages on old podcasts, monogamous knitting is fantastic. I find it a lot more productive, meditative and relaxing (just as knitting as a hobby is intending to be) than the scattered-brain style of having lots of knitting projects on the go and not finishing any… each tends to take a lot longer, languishing in the background and, eventually sometimes never finishing as one gets bored of them. Hence, it’s also less wasteful and knitting each piece becomes more intentional. I hope you manage to push away that silly pressure of producing podcasts full of FOs, WIPs, new buys (OMG, the acquisitions!!!) Go back to basics, remember why you started this journey… not just to become something or someone else. Those who enjoy your podcasts, like you the way you started, not to become another product of social media… Keep your purity of intention and do it to enjoy yourself and our shared hobby. I’m sure that way we’ll all enjoy accompanying you on your journey. Doesn’t matter how often you podcast, we’ll enjoy it if you enjoy making it and take your time knitting lovely things and producing it. “‘nough said,😅, ❤❤

Hi! I do check older podcast. Thank you for your thoughtful message. I was feeling so unproductive and awful this month because I just couldn’t seem to get anything done. Monogamous knitting really helped and I have since developed a two project rule: one thing that I have designed myself/ is more complex and one that is a simple easy knit. I’m just not quick or focused enough to have hundreds of projects on the go at once. The pressure to ‘produce’ for social media is always there, but it is nice to hear that viewers don’t mind a bit of wait - knitting is a slow hobby! Thank you again for your kind words 🧶❤️
