Sounds fuller to me! Nice choice, I always loved the rhythm on Behind the Crooked Cross, the tighness is on another level at 188bpm. Fun song to play too, the verse riff just jams for me
as much as I'm a fanboy for Dave Lombardo and a drummer myself - it is really nice to see Judson taking in the whole thing, much more focusing on notes and the overall arrangement. you two guys have something special about yourselves, it's a great fun watching your vids - keep it up!
I met a butterfly the other day. I was just hanging out in the backyard, about to mow the lawn, when a monarch butterfly flew over and landed on my finger. I asked him what he wanted. And he said: "Bring back 80's/90's speed metal" 😐👉🤘🦋
This is my fav Slayer song, and their best album IMO. It had the best dynamics and Lombardo's best drumming. Reign In Blood is a thrash classic but mostly all one flavor.
That was a beautiful piece you played at the beginning! I gonna check out that album you mentioned.. This was the the first Slayer song I ever learned to play on guitar.
New mics sound great. I honestly come more for your amazing song choices and his piano renditions than the reaction. All the songs you've shown him are exactly what I would want to show him (especially all the Pantera).
I love your restraint in this one Richard!! I myself was crazy ass air-drumming channelling my inner Lombardo 😅 That crisp snap of the snare on that track along with those insane drum fills and catchy riffs.. Good choice! 🤟🤟
Great reaction, guys! Slayer is fucking awesome! Unforgettable! The albums Show No Mercy (1983), Haunting the Chapel (1984 EP), Hell Awaits (1985), Reign in Blood (1986), South of Heaven (1988), Seasons in the Abyss (1990): masterpieces!!! Dave Lombardo (the drummer in these Slayer masterpieces): an extraterrestrial, the most absurd, the most impressive of his generation...
@@vorpalblades Gene Hoglan: another alien! What he recorded with Dark Angel (Darkness Descends, 1986 album, is a Thrash Metal classic, fucking awesome), with Death (Symbolic, 1995 album: masterful in every aspect, a spectacular Progressive Death Metal) , in addition to what he did in other bands. But even so, my favorite is still Dave Lombardo, considering his generation...
Sweet, hitting home runs, my favourite Slayer track! Slayer, before this album were getting some guitar instruction/lessons in theory to broaden their horizons, I love Jeff's solo in particular
Great reaction as usual! Everything sounds real good. Didn''t think Judson was gonna like that one. Oh and like the split screen with you Richard off in the corner, nice touch! Please react to Jaguar God - Mastodon...
The new mics👍. So much enjoyment watching you two enjoy some Slayer. Dave is a Beast is a Beast on the Drums his double bass straight epic. You need to do a reaction on Alien Weaponry these youngan are brutal.
I NEED to see you guys both react to the Careless Whisper/Seasons In The Abyss mashup. Wham and Slayer were definitely meant to go together. Look it up if you haven't! 😂
@Greatmeasures1 yes!! Its called Careless In The Abyss, plsplsplspls you gotta react to it! Sware since hearing it, I can't listen to Seasons without hearing Careless Whisper 😂🤣💀 its that good.

Great song and reaction as always! Would love to see a reaction to Amongst the Low and Empty by Signs of the Swarm. (That song gave me a concussion lol)
I'm not surprised they met each others in detox. I used to know a contrabassist who played jazz and had a professional gig in classical orchestra. Judson reminds me of him. We used to discuss philosophy, art, literature and music the whole night while consuming weed, good quality red wine and variety of cheese bread stick. Very good memories. I myself was more of an eccentric rocker with a lot of fascination for creativity, spirituality and psychology. For certain reasons, I had the attention of intellectual in the field of professional musicians and artists in general. These were the best years of my alien life, alien expressed as an outcast. Didn't changed much but solitude allows me to still experiment somehow. Otherwise, I might be dead by now. I'm surprised I made it this far.
great little backdrop info on Aleister Crowley more trivia: the name Aleister probably comes from Alistair, which is the scottish version the name i have, Alexander. i believe his real name was indeed Edward Alexander.
I’ve been listening to this since that video shot at the great pyramids rolled on MTV. This is the first time I’ve thought to myself that when Tom comes in on the first verse that “this sounds like old hardcore punk rock”. Weird.
Hey guys, love the videos. Have a suggestion of a band for you, try a Finnish band called Amorphis. Death of a King, Narrow Path, Sacrifice, Bad Blood, Wrong Direction & The Wanderer are some of my faves.
I think it's interesting the different postures Judson has while playing. Some of them he looks more relaxed and then on the Perfect Circle performance, I thought he was going to headbutt the keys.
Dave Lombardo's best album with Slayer. He formed the band Grip Inc. when he left Slayer in the 90s, they're more like a Groove Metal band than Thrash but definitely worth a listen. Ostracized has an infectious rhythm and beat. He also played for Suicidal Tendencies and is currently the drummer for Testament.
Pretty dang slick! I've got a request. Not sure how to submit this so I figure I'd try through the comments. I'd love to see BOTH of you listen/comment on a combination of 2, maybe 3 versions of the same classical song. Mussorgsky: Night on Bald Mountain (Justin's forte) and Joe Parrish version - full metal cover- (Richard's forte) and as a bonus for both the disco version from Night on DISCO mountain on the Saturday Night Fever sound track. It would be a long video, but I'd love it!
Can you guys please start pausing between sections in the songs so we can get a more in-depth perspective from Mr Piano Man. Love hearing what he has to say. Sorry for not remembering your names yet, I'm a fairly recent sub
Crowley was great poet, magic(k)ian and philosopher. He has some solid writings of both eastern and western esoteria/occult. Very classic but still fresh approach to magic(k) and psychology. Everyone should read Crowley. He's very much relevant still today.
What if he was built up to be the guy that he turned out to be, an initiated satanist who was into occult rituals and claiming to harvest energy of little boys by having sex with them?
If you guys wanna know more about Alesteir Crowley and whole 60’s occultism and new age era, here’s a book for you: Turn Off Your Mind: The Mystic Sixties and the Dark Side of the Age of Aquarius. Excellent piece of that time through popular culture.
Sometimes I listen to South Of Heaven just for the drums. That and Police's Regatta de Blanc are the greatest albums for incredible drumming. Lombardo is out on his own.
Absolutely correct about Mr Crowley. For a less intimidating look into him you can always listen to Ozzy’s song “Mr. Crowley” It’s a fair depiction of said man
11:55 yeah, that's what I always say, if I like the drums, that's already half the deal, especially with bands I don't know, on festivals. It seems you have no video with an Obituary song, maybe that would fit, always like their drumming.
We got new mics. Let us know how it sounds!

Might be *slightly* overmodulated on your mic, Richard, but otherwise, sounds good!
Oh man, you Slayered him?? He will never be the same..😮
Dave Lombardo just SMASHING them skins on that one...love It!
Dave Lombardo made this song and album MAGIC.
Dave Lombardo really shows off on this one.

Love to see a reaction to Death. Something from The sound of Perseverance maybe like Flesh and the Power it Holds or Spirit Crusher. Cheers
Reign in blood, South of heaven, Seasons in the abyss this is Slayer in their prime
Perfectly said!!! Fuck yeah!
Reign in blood, South of heaven, Seasons in the abyss AND Hell awaits is prime.
I agree hell awaits is a great album just going with the order I bought them
Hell Awaits is just as good as any of their Major Label releases!!!
RIP Jeff
This channel is underrated.
Lombardo is.. a.. beast !! Unbelievable drumming in this... even during the guitar solos, the drumming stood out even more for me ...😊
You guys are just the greatest. Thanks for the gorgeous snippet and the shout, I appreciate it. Excited to check out Rooster Blues now.
Loved hearing the rooster blues on the piano, i still jam that blue album all the time.

You guys are like the Rhett & Link of heavier music reactions. I love it.
Reaction videos are fake and staged. Duh
This is SOOOOOO fun to play on guitar
Agreed
It really is isn't it, everything fits nicely under the hand, there's no unsecessary movement, it's quick but not too fast, and it's got that groove
Dave Lombardo...the best

Been waiting for this one for months… it’s about time. 😝
