    I'm always happy when I catch the little ones. A good sign that the stream is healthy and reproducing. Very nice looking stretch. Thanks for taking us along. Fun!

    Loved that Davie.I've only fished the Doon a couple of times and that was over 50yrs ago. You've just reminded me what a lovely wee river it is. Ayrshire rivers from the Stinchar to the Irvine and Kilmarnock, the latter two were where I started fishing just over 70yrs ago . And I consider myself lucky to have fished them in their prime, when they had plenty of great brownies in them. And Salmon and Sea Trout runs were something to behold.
    So thanks for your videos, and commentaries, Davie they are a joy.. 😁

    Another day working from home, another day with this in front of my monitors. Not that it's distracting me, of course. Looks glorious down there today. My vice arrived yesterday. It's a lovely thing. Hudson & Coleman. Looks like steel and brass. I've got it set up on my desk just to look at it. I should probably get some materials and patterns ordered. Lovely video as ever, Davie. Cheers 🍺🍻

    Was out fishing for salmon myself yesterday,nothing stirring,tried prawn,worms etc,nothing happening.....then a hatch happened...the best rise i've seen on our river in about 3yrs....switched over to trout and landed a personal best of mine, a brown trout the length of my arm, it fought like a salmon and I though I had a salmon at first until it breached the surface twice with massive jumps then I knew it was a brownie....took about 20mins to safely land ....it made the whole day worth it.....

    Watched it at lunch today Davie. Lovley beat that. What's the dry you use when you switched to the trout rod. Fair holds up well in the rough water. Especially with tungsten hanging from it.

      Hi @dominiqueleblanc2193,
      The sea trout or any sea run fish tend to fight a lot harder though I've had many a struggle with a wild brown trout on the river and lochs..

    Do you tie the red devil with and without the badger hackle up front ??

    • @DavieMcPhail
      @DavieMcPhail  Год назад +1

      Hi Keith,
      I don't put a badger hackle on the front of the Red Devil though the fine badger like fibres you get from the jungle cock gives you the impression of having tyed one on..
      All the very best Davie

    You never use a bomber for salmon fishing? Trout will hit it too.
