This is a great review on the controller and it’s functions. I wish however, it was filmed from the players’ visual perspective, with close ups of the faders, fader buttons and pads. Being new to midi and a controller keyboard, the learning curve is a bit daunting, and the owners’ guide is a bit confusing. I own the LX 61, and it seems very functional, if I just knew the programming process. However, thanks for a great review.
Man I've got to tell you, I watched this tutorial in march 2020 when quarantine first hit and it was so good I bought the lx25+. I'm a professional DJ and I create remixes/mixes in Logic Pro X so I really only cared for the pads/keys and not the rest of control features since I don't really create my own songs, just remixes of already made songs - those two things were all I really needed. After I got the lx25+, I started to mess around with it and one thing led to another and I was actually producing my own songs too! I came back to watch this video today because I've decided I need to learn to play piano/guitar to create my own melodies and wanted to know how the bigger lx keyboard would work. Just wanted to say I will be buying the lx61+ now because of this tutorial. thanks man. have a good Sunday!
Thanks a lot John! This helped so much. I love my Nektar controller because it does integrate with Logic so well. I used an Axiom pro 61 before but could not get it to totally stay connected to Logic after manually learning all faders. Too much of a headache but this is on point! 👌🏾
Is this the nicer of the organ controllers you've tried? Can we split the keyboard to match the vintage Yamaha YC10/20 or a low bass of the Fender Rhodes?
I got the Nektar Impact LX88+ but no matter how loud I turn on my volume the sound is soft (my computer volume is on the loudest and so is the audio track, but when I play the keyboard the sound comes out to be soft). Is there a way where I can fix this problem where it can be louder?
I just purchased the LX88+ and I have garageband, would you have any clue if the same applies because i just cant seem to find a vid on it at all, everyone i see is geared to the 61 key nektar please help
Is it possible to adjust a knob to several different plugins? For example, sometimes I would like to use the knobs on a compressor, sometimes I would like to use them on a equalizer
In 2020 what is the best Logic Midi keyboard controllers 10.5 integration That easily maps to all the core functions within logic 10.5 as well third parties and then also you have the ability to manual map anything you want And features velocity curves gradually increasing in dynamics for finger drumming
@@Johnmike because the ones I thinking about are Arturia KeyLab mkII 49 49-key Keyboard Controller - White Or Arturia KeyLab Essential 49 49-key Keyboard Controller Are these really smooth logic integration where you have full control and can manually map any parameters within logic third-party plug-ins
Thanks for the vid, it was very helpful. I'm a bit of a Logic newb, is there a way to set the midi channel of the Pads? so that I can assign the keyboard to a piano track for example and the pads to a drum track?
I can't get the knobs to assign to any of the plugins.. it's basically just, in INST mode, press shift and wiggle the controls on the screen and they should automatically assign.. or is there something else needing done first?
@@HomieLos1234 For Logic, have in mind the Komplete Kontrol A61 too. It's $259 and it's awesome for the price range. I've had a couple of oxygens in the past , currently using the Impact LX 88+ and my bet is on the Nektar. I also bought the A25 Komplete Kontrol and it blew my mind, the keys are semi-weighted, it integrates easily with Logic Pro 10.4 especially if you use Kontakt libraries. The LX 88+ is more capable tho, more options faders, pads..etc.
Is it possible to disable the use of just the sample pads so that they don't work? weird question i know, but I was thinking of using DualGrip on that part of the keyboard to attach a laptop for live use and wouldn't want to accidentally trigger sounds when using the laptop! Thanks.
I had a few questions on how to use this controller inside Logic Pro X! So I shot this video to show how!
John Mike do you recommend this midi controller for piano playing?
Raynold Gustave no I don’t...the keybed isn’t made for it
Ok I’ll stick to my ypg 535 portable grand
Hey bro how did you auto map the keyboard to logic?
Thanks. I did have to watch it while standing on my head to get the right perspective!

Wow super dope!
The GB/logic hammond is FANTASTIC 😍
Excellent review, thanks John!
Nice info there, I bought a lx88+ to use it with Logic Pro, but can’t get it fully integrated, may you share the installer file?

I have an Axiom 25, and have had the same problems. It's a pity since I like the feel of it.
Wow, you've nailed it, bro , thanx so much! I really have to sit and read that manual p.a.t.i.e.n.t.l.y :)
Cheers man
can you cutomize teh knob layout for instruments ? Effects ? what about smart controls ?
Nice. I wonder if i need it since i have the ipad with logic remote? I buy tis one or the Doepfer, full weight
Great review, thank you. I just purchased one.
Wonderful review. Helps me a lot
Very well explained. Thanks!

My default configuration does not works like this way
Have you tried the Novation Keyboard with Logic?
Good Video, but i can‘t control the functions in Garage band or Logic Pro. What must i do? thx
I thrashed my mpk25 thinking this will be a solid upgrade in capabilities and key size
Very nice and informative
Hey wait now - in your previous video you said the keys were too clicky, but now you say they're okay? Was that because it was new at the time?
He said in this video towards the end that he likes the control the keyboard offers which makes up for the keys.
So it automatically mapped to Logic and does it have a roll feature?

I just got the 25 key one. I think you can set logic to midi to not be velocity sensitive

Hpw do control the keys on keyboard. Like save load. How its labels at top of them. I hit shift n still played sound?
That was awesome
I have no sound when using the nektar though i see a signal on the track list.
well you have to assign an instrument to the track...
I love your channel, it's my go-to for researching MIDI controllers :)
Question; would you recommend this or the Arturia Essential?
If I had a choice between those two...it would be the arturia
@@Johnmike Awesome, thanks for the quick reply :)
I just ordered the Arturia last night, I'm rather excited
@@glass4495 Does the Arturia work with Logic Pro. I have a Minilab Mk II and even after mapping it’s wobbly and totally unuseable. Any tips?

No pretty much it controls whatever’s on the screen
You may be able to learn it that way.
Thanks for video 👌🙏

Yes it’s in the keyboard menu...keys and pads can be on different channels
Ive unplugged and restarted my LX25+ over two dozen times and I still can't get or play the software that comes with the midi. Help ASAP

Can I control my mk sensation faders with this midi controller ¿
Yes
How do I go about it
I use MKSensation on my ipad
Read the manual, downloaded software, it didnt map to logic🤔
this or the m audio oxygen for logic?
Hard choice...but I like them both equally for control...but I like the keybed on the oxygen better

Nice review man! I have a question: When you open a project on logic, the faders knobs go automactly to the position where the volume are? thanks!
No it they stay where they are...and then “catch” when you move the fader

Yes you can either change the pads to send Midi CC or put the pads on a completely different midi channel in settings
would be more helpful if it wadnt upside down...

everything i needed to know!!! read the manual😂 thats why it aint work😂
