    Awesome advice Brian.
    Roofer here. I’m actually a BSc in mathematics so I was always helping my builders estimate plywood required using exactly that method of using the slope scaling factor.
    Google maps changed my life
    I could pretty much give people a rough estimate and not even leave my computer
    Sometimes the street view is limited. You’d still need to visit the site to get a good idea of ease of access for the trucks, lifts, and bins to the house
    But when google street view is good, it’s like being there

    Since I'm a geriatric roofer I've moved to my measuring using eagleview.

    I stopped chasing money years ago. I strive to offer the most excellent service I can for my costumers and sometimes you take a hit every now and again, but their satisfaction is my number two priority and like you said, the money comes.

    Great video. How much do you figure for waste?

    • @GrandRoofingInc
      @GrandRoofingInc  Год назад +1

      It really depends on the size and complexity of the job, usually in between 7 and 12 percent. The software I use has a really good algorithm for a recommended waste. It takes into account a lot of factors such as is it a large open run or are there a lot of valleys and hips.

      Many thanks. You have a very good RUclips channel and I've learned a lot from it.

    How many estimates do you do vs. the number of jobs you get in a given time?

    All fun and games until you have a 55sq 12/12 with 37 facets. These architects are losing their minds with roof designs.

    You should have cut siding away from roof on your 1st course.You went that far with installing flashing.. why not?If you don't nail flashing it always has a chance to lift. Disagree ..please use ladder standoffs or gutter inserts to protect gutters. Thats a no brainer. Its what Professionals do. Finally the reason the original flashing was installed like that is incompetence. ( 45yrs doing roofing) . Good work overall

    Like the content but serious advice.
    You need to look at the lens of the camera and not yourself.
    You always look at yourself and it makes it hard to watch you. Your eyes are always off to the right. I have to ignore your face to watch your videos.
